Justin Fuente fired at Va Tech

I’d be shocked if a P5 school touched freeze.
I've read the allegations leveled against Ole **** at that time.

The money involved in those alleged recruitments was a pittance, and is rendered even less relevant by NIL.

As far as "fixing" ACT scores goes, programs engage in all manner of chicanery to gain entrance and maintain eligibility for the academically disinclined.

Georgia has paid individual recruits more than the combined total of what Freeze was tarred with by the NCAA.

I don't regard his alleged violations as egregious or salacious, and I suspect a P5 program will at some point want to win badly enough to justify his hire.

He's a very good head coach, who could be had on the cheap. Eventually, he should get a call from a major program.

I disagree. I don’t really think there’s many coaches that can be successful there. It’s a school with no winning tradition in any sport (they’ve literally never won a national championship in any team sport, EVER).

It’s a tough place to recruit at and they’ve got a ceiling.

Btw if you don’t believe me on the national championship thing, take a look. Absolutely mind blowing that they haven’t won ONE in at least one random sport.

Beamer and Foster were plenty good...to say otherwise is being disingenuous...

And why wouldn't you?

"Yeah we're going to fire you at the end of the season, but we'd love you to see the season out with the team".

**** that.
I can see the logic, but it's, imo, weak.
You're getting paid, your contract is guaranteed, the players that are actually risking their bodies are always asked to not quit, to always give 100%, but the millionaire guy on the sidelines that preached them for years about coming together as a team a toughness is gonna dip like that?
I think itss pathetic, but like I said, I believe Fuentes was trying to leave VT for at least a couple of seasons

To be fair, the last 11 NC's have come from only two conferences. ACC with 3, SEC with 8. I mean sure, Clemson has carried the bulk of the load, but that is more than every other conference. Us getting back remotely close to what we used to be puts the conference up to Number 2 immediately.
To your point, us and VT get back, it is a **** good conference when you also have solid middle of the road teams like UNC, NC State, Pitt...........
Its what this conference should be at all times. Amazing VT, Miami, FSU decide to sht the bed right when TV contracts are being negotiated.

The problem with the DMV is it produces maybe 20 4-stars on any given year. Penn State and Ohio State will always pull 4 of those kids. Alabama, LSU, Clemson and Notre Dame will pull at least another 6. Then you will have other SEC and Big 10 schools poaching talent before you get to compete against Maryland and UVA.

Beamer won primarily by playing good defense and special teams. Foster is long gone and Beamer coached special teams. He was smart enough to work a system where he could recruit and win games. He was also at his best when Miami was mediocre.
Interesting that this year PSU has only one of the top 50 in VA. The VA killer is UNC with 4 of the top 5 and several more.

Ill throw DJ Durkin out there again.. (pearl clutching ensues). Note: he was cleared of wrong doing.

For the right price, there are competent coaches that would go to VT in a heartbeat.

Our posters massively overrate how much these coaches care about the city they coach in.

The best coaches are football first. They are looking for a program, not a retirement home.

Whomever is their next head coach needs to recapture what they can in the DELMARVA and mainly Tidewater/Hampton Roads area with recruiting.

Va Tech use to own these areas, now they are considered secondary option to kids recruited by your BIG10 programs.
