Honestly what difference does it make what they or anyone spends their money on? Do you think all programmers and engineers are maxing out their 401ks and donating their surplus to charities??

I can agree with you it’s a dumb use of their funds but that has no bearing on whether they should get paid or not.

I agree. I’m just saying that’s maybe why football players and basketball players get brought up more than others. I’m all for them getting paid 100%
 
Just like the NFL, college teams need to evaluate their investment before dropping a ton of money for a player. Not Flowe's fault someone decided to pay him a ton of money. Same thing happens in the pros too - get the bag and lose your motivation (IE Haynesworth). Difference is, no one bemoans how much NFL players make when that happens and it actually has a much more significant impact on the team due to the cap. I'd much rather the money from CFB be in the players hands than in the pockets of clowns like Emmert. And institutions are making hand over fist on college football, so I am not losing sleep on them having to shell out for talent.

Do we demand that business executives or Wall Street hedge fund managers stay broke their entire life to maintain that “hunger”? It’s weird that people assume an athlete will get lazy if he has money but completely ignore that most billionaire businessmen have been wealthy their entire lives.

Nil is negotiated yearly in case you're not aware. The kid was hurt as a freshman. Nil started his second year. Your statement seems to assume because he signed the year prior to nil that it means he didn't factor in for this. If that's what you're thinking, you and buddy who mentioned it are horribly incorrect. On top of the fact although it was the year prior when he signed, schools were already more than aware what was coming down the line.

Some of the analogies y'all come up with really are bat ****... You just used as a comparison people who's proffesion is entirely about money and it's acquisition. Money is entirely what motivated them. I don't need to toot my own horn. But after an entire life in sports and the majority of the people I know in this world being athletes, I know what most of us had as atleast some form of motivation was the money we would eventually be able to make from busting our *** to love out our dreams. I know **** well if you would've gave us that money before we achieved our goals plenty of us would've said why the **** am I doing all of this when I already got millions in my accounts. You lose the big picture once things get taken out of that equation. I don't know what y'all have done in your life's. But every day 5am work outs, followed by 7am study sessions, on average some version of 4 hrs in a day of school work, followed by more work outs, film, weights etc. **** near every day is 5am through 11pm give or take an hr. If you think as a kid you're anywhere near as willing to do that as a millionaire you're flat out wrong more often than not. Not even in the NFL do we have the same grind that we have in college. College is far harder to balance everyday. Add money into that and plenty of people will change up how they approach it. Don't get how y'all don't realize this if y'all have lived any version of life that isn't provided for you.

Honestly I didn't see him as a sure fire like DJ but I definitely thought kid was gonna be **** good. I think his issues are a mixture of the toll steroids takes on the body over time and nil entitlement. I had a conversation with a coach of his previously where they said his routine & it was impressive. I think he just really needed someone like lavaar who's so hands on in his life. Guidance as you know goes a long way. Oh well.

I think you're pushing for a comparison to another career field and there's not really a fair comparison. I'm sure somethng like this exists, but I'm not aware of BigTechProgrammersInSight or Doctorsport or ON3WallStreet.com. Those "players" aren't being talked about, scrutinized, worshipped and JUDGED (isn't that the real issue here?) like these teenaged football players are. When the term "y'all" gets thrown out there, many people (myself included) don't like it because they aren't part of y'all. Hence you get push back. I actually think most of the folks on CiS actually do want the players paid; they simply want something for a structure in place. As I mentioned earlier, I want structure for fairness within the entirety of the sport. I don't GAF if Nico got paid $2M, $4m or no M. I didn't write the check(s). If he wants to blow it on depreciating assets like sports cars, have at it. If he prefers to invest into a SEP IRA, more power to him. Either way, it is his choise and has NOTHING to do with the issue of whether or not these guys should be paid.
