Jordan Travis

UNC QB ran for 98 on us, expect Travis to gain at least that amount on the ground. Plus they have a couple really good rbs.
We will catch **** trying to contain their ground game, and they will catch **** trying to contain our passing game.

Expect another very close game fellas.

We outscore them simply because we can score quicker... our D is suspect but if we avoid offensive TOs... we should overwhelm them

Yes we definitely have more quick strike ability, but if we don't do a good job of containing their ground game to a degree, it will limit our opportunities on O. We will have to take advantage of our opportunities and make them play catch up.

He will play Sat. Bet your life on it.

The guy is terrible but really elusive as a runner. The best plays he has ever made have been when he appears to be sacked for big losses and makes someone miss. Once the pass rush is upfield of him he is very dangerous in space. We need to spy him and it can’t be Cory Flagg (too slow).
You really didn't need to include the parenthesis for Flagg :ROFLMAO:

We're more than likely going to see both Qb's Saturday. They're probably going to try and use Travis to spread us out with his legs and bring in Milton to carve us up underneath to keep Manny guessing. Should be a high scoring game the Canes SHOULD win.
Guess Manolo will have to game plan for two different QB's, which means he will still be blitzing from the parking lot, and leaving the middle wide open :

Lol y'all making this kid out to be Mike Vike or Lamar Jackson. Very good athlete but remember just last year he couldn't out run Nesta in the backfield and limped off the field to never return. He will make some plays with his legs no doubt but y'all need to calm down.
every qb we played looks like Lamar Jackson against our D :

I expect Travis to make some plays running the ball.

But I am somewhat optimistic b/c I thought the staff/D did a decent job keeping Sims in check. Sims this season had run for 34, 128, 38, 55, 65, and 60. Against us, 11 for -8. We did a really good job against him this past week. I think Travis will look to run more than Sims did so I don't believe we're going to recreate that statistical performance, but the D should be prepared to see Travis following Sims.

I suspect Manny can put a lot of bodies on Travis and see if Travis and FSU's WRs can win one on one battles vs. our DBs.

FSU's total offense ranks 86th in the country while averaging 378 yards per game. They do some things that our defense has trouble with but I dont understand all this talk about how dangerous that offense is in general. They are trash and have nobody on offense that even has a chance at being drafted in the first few rounds.

What a ridiculous series of posts lol

"During his limited time he was doing well until he did the worst thing a QB could do" lol got it, great. The guy is elite because only one of his small number of plays was catastrophic.

Travis is a very good runner but there have been many guys in college football who are just as good. Adding to the other poster's list...DKing (the kid returned a KO for a TD as a freshmen). Tyrod Taylor. Denard Robinson. RG3. A number of Oregon QBs before the Taggart era. A couple of Auburn QBs earlier this decade. ****, the QB we just faced is about as good a runner as Travis.

Not knocking Travis - he's clearly a good runner - but if he were as talented a runner as you say, FSU would be a much better team.
They ARE a much better team when he plays

You never take your opponent lightly and always prepare for legitimate competition. That said, the idea Jordan Travis is some sort of all-time, elite running QB is unfounded and unsupportable. Dude has three career games with over 100 yards rushing. And regardless, he has two career games throwing over 200 yards (last season... career high 210).

Is he an athletic QB? Absolutely. Will he scramble around and make something out of nothing a few times in the game? Yes, without a doubt. Will he also make several boneheaded plays and potentially turn the ball over? Yes, without a doubt. Is he even an average passer? No. Is he more likely than the average QB to get dinged up and knocked out of a game due to taking hits? Yes, because he's light and plays reckless football.

I hate watch a lot of Forfeit State football, and I see a one-dimensional running QB who is at his best when he is improvising outside the pocket, but is a danger to himself and his team when he inevitably tries to force the football (despite lack of legit arm strength) and/or relies too much on his athleticism in bad situations (doing things like turning his back to the defense and running sideline to sideline or away from the LOS).

Wasn't Hendon Hooker supposed to be an unstoppable force on the ground last year too?

Looking forward to seeing their star quarterback after Nesta gets to him again.

LOL at comparing King to Travis athletically 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
King has 2000 rushing yards (4.9 per carry), 500 receiving yards, and a KO TD in his career. King is/was a great athlete. That is not up for discussion.

Is he a better athlete than Travis? Idk, he's at least similar.

But the point isn't that one is better than the other. I don't really care about that. Maybe Travis is more athletic, idk. Doesn't matter.

The point is that you made an insane claim about Travis being a historically great athlete at the QB position. Clearly he is not historically great lol. There are tons of other guys in his same category as an athlete at QB.

I am getting a kick out of these posters making like Travis is the next coming of Michael Vick. If we get beat it won’t be because Travis ran a muck. It will be because we turned the ball over like we did last week.

A poster in another thread brought up the "running QB" myth and I agreed. When is the last time our D in the last few years let a QB just run rampant on us? I dont think thats an issue with a Manny Diaz defense. (even though his defense has ALOT of issues, that aint one of them)

We played Travis last year with virtually the same LB corp and had no issue with him running. In fact, we almost killed the kid. Not sure why this "we need to be worried about him running on us" narrative is being created.
I agree man
Travis won’t beat us
The only way we lose is if tvd lays an egg
It’s comes down to their d vs our o
Their offense and our defense is both trash

Think some of you are underestimating what Milton can do to us inside the hashes. Since we don't really play much defense in there, and he's accurate, their crosses, slants and in-breaking routes should be there for good percentages.
Exactly this is the game Milton would carve up the middle of the field
In many ways Milton is a worse matchup for manny
Our weakness is the middle of the field
All Travis big plays come throwing to guys running down the sideline
He doesnt throw between the hashes consistently
Just spy him with Avantae and we’re good

Serious question: what does FSU do better on offense (with Travis) than GT does?

Total Offense
GT - 68
FSU - 86

Rush Offense
FSU - 41
GT - 55

This it? This is what we’re afraid of?

Those numbers have some Milton games mixed in there. Especially last week, when they averaged 3.82 YPP, which is as embarrassing as it gets. I don't think they're great on offense, but they're better with Travis than those numbers show, and they're certainly better with him than with Milton, who is absolutely awful.
