Jordan Travis

FSU’s offense is terrible & Jordan Travis is legitimately one of the worst QB’s in the ACC...

He’s only had ONE game the entire season with more than 15 completions & hasn’t thrown for over 200 yards once the entire season... Let me say that again, he hasn’t had a single game the entire year where he’s thrown for more than 200yds, actually he hasn’t even had a game where he’s thrown for more than 180 yards, that’s how bad he is.

But here’s the kicker, Miami’s Defense is equally just as horrendous as FSU’s offense is & what no one should ever assume (especially if you’ve watched this Defense play at all this season) is that they’re going to come out there & actually perform at an adequate level to where they’ve gained the benefit of the doubt or have earned the confidence of assumption from fans.

Therein lies the problem, Miami’s Defense is susceptible to be had for big plays because our alignments are off & on any given play we’ll have at least half the Defense out of place & clueless as to what their assignment is, then you tack on the fact we continue to trot out players who are as slow as a three-toed sloth that can’t make tackles in the open field & task them with defending the middle of the field, then you get the perfect recipe for a busted play that results in a TD.

Now, does that mean that FSU wins? No it doesn’t /shouldn’t, but the mistake yall cannot make is underestimate how bad our Defense is & yes we pummeled them last year & the year before, but the caveat was we had Rousseau in 2019 take over the game & last year we had Phillips & Roche, this year the DE’s of Johnson, McCloud & Harvey leave a lot to be desired & our overall DL this season is the worst that it’s been since 2016.

No one is saying FSU has Oklahoma’s offensive capability or that Jordan Travis is the second coming of Michael Vick, but the question is can this really bad Defense stem the tide & buck the trend it’s followed the entire season?

Miami should win in a blowout, but it’s not a 100% guarantee that we will. It is entirely possible we have another dogfight close win this game, because if you’ve payed attention to this team all year, that’s literally the tenor of our season. Even in games where our offensive output has been astronomical we’re barely beating the last 3 teams we’ve played.

This game would the perfect time for us to finally beat an opponent by more than 5 points, but it’s just a matter of if it will actually happen, because so far it hasn’t happened once all season vs any non FCS opponent.
People are really underestimating how bad our defense is. I said in another thread, I’d be SHOCKED (but happy) if we win in a blow out. Their DL vs our OL scares me. Their RBs vs our LBs scare me. How we leave the middle open, scares me. Manny’s defense against ANYONE scares me.

I don’t see this game being a blow out at all. I hope I’m wrong. Would like to finally have a stress free win. CCSU doesn’t count.

Unc made them look good and now yall spooked lmao fswho ain't scaring nobody with that offensive line lmao just contain run like wake and nc state did.. don't over pursue the run

Many's cute defense got all of us feeling uncomfortable but one thing for certain and 2 things for sure is you don't lose to that school in the north.. tylerVanDimes is gonna continue to roll he hasn't shown us different so far.. continue supporting..

Norvell is gonna try and get cute and gimmicky with his offense. Miami needs to contain the run and force the pass. Our corners are better than FSU WR… force Travis to pass which is his weakness.
This is always said then Manny’s D doesn’t do it… doesn’t even attempt to do it. We will play the same D as always then possibly make changes in the second half.

They absolutely suck. Travis was garbage against us last year. Expecting a tighter score but a game where the result isn’t in question.

FSU - 20
Miami - 38

Well we as fans say it yea because it’s evident… can’t control what the coach or coaches are gonna do but just hope they realize the guy beats you with his feet not his arm

Beast two offenses in the ACC in UVA and Pitt put up 30 and 31 but somehow FSU is going to light us up to high heavens

I never said that. Our poor defense is what I’m nervous about. Believe it or not, they actually have some good players on their team. If our OL can’t protect TVD or give Rooster space to run, it will not be a 52-10 type game. Forgive me for not being confident in our defense. I can admit that our OL has done better as of late. But I can see the other Johnson (the one we should’ve taken) causing havoc.

Once again the two best offenses in the ACC scored 30 and 31

FSU is ranked 86th so why exactly are you worried

Their offense sucks

Here's the thing. As bad as our defense has played this year, they're actually much better against the run than they were a year ago. They get burnt in the passing game because they can't cover anyone but have been generally decent against the run. The defensive line isn't nearly as undisciplined and while they don't get the pass rush pressure you always want, they aren't rushing blindly into the backfield and overrunning plays as much either. If FSU is going to even be in this game, they're going to have to throw the ball better than they have in any game this season. They don't have a player with even 20 receptions on the season. Their leading receiver is a running back who has 19 catches for 90 yards.

2020 rush defense 174.5 ypg 4.5 ypc
2021 rush defense 135.4 ypg 4.0 ypc.

IF FSU runs for 135 yards and 4.0 YPC, we're going to kill them.

However, I think you have the high school game in those numbers.

Against FBS teams, we're giving up 148.75 YPG on the ground, and 4.38 YPC. Not too much better than last year.

Travis doesn’t need to be Vick to do damage to us on the ground.

All they have to do is some zone-read and designed QB runs and you’ll see our DE’s lose contain and our LB’s going the wrong direction.

This would be the perfect week to stack the box and actually play press man with our corners.

You're right. Those numbers include the CCSU game but even without that game, we're talking about a 30 ypg difference from last year to this year. Not to mention, we had a lot more sacks last year which are counted as rushing plays. I mean, if you take away the sacks, last year's team would probably be over 200 ypg allowed.

Both fair points.

The run D point is one reason I’m more confident than most weeks. I still see a shootout.

There’s so many easy throws against our d and big windows i don’t see why anyone would try to run. Drag routes stay open as well as most short / intermediate routes.

FSU will have to score 40+ on us to win. I just don't see that happening. Yes, they do have some talent on D, but they are still mistake prone. TVD carves them up like a Thanksgiving turkey. Meanwhile, our D does enough to put them away, possibly early.
