People are really underestimating how bad our defense is. I said in another thread, I’d be SHOCKED (but happy) if we win in a blow out. Their DL vs our OL scares me. Their RBs vs our LBs scare me. How we leave the middle open, scares me. Manny’s defense against ANYONE scares me.FSU’s offense is terrible & Jordan Travis is legitimately one of the worst QB’s in the ACC...
He’s only had ONE game the entire season with more than 15 completions & hasn’t thrown for over 200 yards once the entire season... Let me say that again, he hasn’t had a single game the entire year where he’s thrown for more than 200yds, actually he hasn’t even had a game where he’s thrown for more than 180 yards, that’s how bad he is.
But here’s the kicker, Miami’s Defense is equally just as horrendous as FSU’s offense is & what no one should ever assume (especially if you’ve watched this Defense play at all this season) is that they’re going to come out there & actually perform at an adequate level to where they’ve gained the benefit of the doubt or have earned the confidence of assumption from fans.
Therein lies the problem, Miami’s Defense is susceptible to be had for big plays because our alignments are off & on any given play we’ll have at least half the Defense out of place & clueless as to what their assignment is, then you tack on the fact we continue to trot out players who are as slow as a three-toed sloth that can’t make tackles in the open field & task them with defending the middle of the field, then you get the perfect recipe for a busted play that results in a TD.
Now, does that mean that FSU wins? No it doesn’t /shouldn’t, but the mistake yall cannot make is underestimate how bad our Defense is & yes we pummeled them last year & the year before, but the caveat was we had Rousseau in 2019 take over the game & last year we had Phillips & Roche, this year the DE’s of Johnson, McCloud & Harvey leave a lot to be desired & our overall DL this season is the worst that it’s been since 2016.
No one is saying FSU has Oklahoma’s offensive capability or that Jordan Travis is the second coming of Michael Vick, but the question is can this really bad Defense stem the tide & buck the trend it’s followed the entire season?
Miami should win in a blowout, but it’s not a 100% guarantee that we will. It is entirely possible we have another dogfight close win this game, because if you’ve payed attention to this team all year, that’s literally the tenor of our season. Even in games where our offensive output has been astronomical we’re barely beating the last 3 teams we’ve played.
This game would the perfect time for us to finally beat an opponent by more than 5 points, but it’s just a matter of if it will actually happen, because so far it hasn’t happened once all season vs any non FCS opponent.
I don’t see this game being a blow out at all. I hope I’m wrong. Would like to finally have a stress free win. CCSU doesn’t count.
