Lyle started our 1st game last year - so he must be very talented.

As SJ Alofaituli's taught us this year - our starters are always talented and who Mario chooses to start should never be questioned.

@Salt - I'm not coming at you - just sarcastically pointing out the irony in the "he started so he must be good" theory

Agreed and I hope he balls out. This is the type of game to not only get the rust off, but to "eat snaps" like a middle reliever in a baseball blowout to make sure every one is as healthy as possible going into Clemson.

He is our best option is running back number two this year, especially with Brown out. So I would be really hoping he shines for us this year because we need him.

True. But he struggled against anyone he played against last year. You have to start somewhere. And if he doesn't start Saturday it's not happening.

The case for Lyle is - his On3 #1 RB recruiting ranking, how he allegedly looks in practice, and these 3 runs:

91 yd vs USF - 4th Quarter up 28 with 3 min left
61 yd vs Wake - 4th Quarter up 21 with 3 min left
17 yd vs Stanford - 4th Quarter up 21 with 9 min left

33% of his career yds are on those 3 runs. He's averaged 3.9 ypc overall & 3.2 ypc vs P4 (outside of these 3 runs)

I sincerely hope Lyle plays well this year and I'm wrong about him. Time will tell.

Call me crazy but maybe our best RB in the regular season last yr and our by far best receiving threat would be our best number 2 RBs and the lightning to Fletchers thunder.

But hey, just a thought....

I'd rather not think about it....but I'd put the chances of our #2 RB vs Clemson at:

50% Lyle
30% Mallory
20% Pringle

I agree with you about Pringle & I'm still bullish on him despite a little bit of a rough start. Hopefully he gets back on track.

No offense taken. But they could had let him walk when he wanted to portal. They could have cut their losses when he got in trouble. Do you think they do the same with SJ if situation was reversed? Not so sure. He’s been evaluated for 3 years now so they must see something in him.
 
Lyle has a golden opportunity here…

He was the starter last year against ND before his injury and was getting good reviews by all this offseason before his suspension

Now he’s got an opportunity to pick up the slack and run with it. He’s got the talent and he’s had his issues but everyone always wanting that 2nd or 3rd chance… well here it is go prove people wrong
