Jon Drummond and Chad Wilson....and a question for Pete.....

Please stop with the Death penalty... We wasn't going to get that... A few talking heads brought it up for attention

If by talking heads you mean Mark Emmert, NCAA president, then yes, he did in fact bring it up.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/6877907/ncaa-president-mark-emmert-says-death-penalty-option-punish-rule-breakers

http://nypost.com/2011/08/20/ncaa-president-says-death-penalty-on-table-for-miami/

He even stated that "if" the situation warranted it... Compare us to SMU? No compare us to OSU and USC... Our infractions doesn't compare... All he said was it exists... But the reality is wasn't getting a death penalty for free drinks, a boat ride and lap dances... Come on... That's all they punished us for... They couldn't find any of the allegations from 2002-04... So yes please stop with the Death Penalty...

You're clueless. Had the NCAA not screwed up and successfully made their case, our potential violations would have far exceeded USC and Ohio State. Will agree that the Death Penalty is a reach.

We can adapt and mend relationships, but begging/ kissing their *** is bull****. As a man, don't blame Al one bit for rustling their Jimmie and telling them to professionally **** off. Catch 22 though because yr after yr we'll lose these "Miami locks" in recruiting...

WTF are these guys "mentoring" them with?

Life generally. You'd have to have spent some time in the inner city to understand. When I mentored I did it with a group and to no surprise, most of the troubled youth in the programs played sports. Their parents basically used sports as a daycare while they worked mutliple jobs, sold drugs, or whatever. Most of those dudes have no or one parent in their lives and end up looking up to the mentors in the programs as their parents basically. We had a kid who ended up living with the counselor.

I'm sure its a similar situation in Miami for some kids, obviously not all. These poor cats are spending their youth around other people who are not their parents. Some of them are playing football since age 6 or 7 and these coaches, uncles, etc. become their mentors. So it carries on until they're older too.

Look at Luke and some of the players he's known since Optimist who all look to him and his opinions.
So...

1. Don't do drugs.
2. Don't hang with the wrong crowd.
3. Stay out of jail.
4. Do well in school.

Then why the **** are these guys involved in the recruiting process?

well it's more than that if it's a real mentor and not a ***ing handler. Mentor is actual trying to help you under the importance of recruiting/college as a life decision beyond football.

Take for example how cupid's handlers handled his recruitment. What was the biggest thing they had an issue about. "Scheme" and how it affects his on field development. You know because ignore the dozens of highly rated DT's LSU has brought in over the last decade and knowing that only a handful of them actually made it to the league. That's not something cupid has to fear because he's guaranteed not to be the next Chris Davenport of any of the other countless highly rated DT's LSU has had over the years. Atleast that's what his handler think.

So that's why you take a kid who ended up at their HS because he was already ***ing up in school so bad he almost missed his chance to even make it to college. A kid that needed to be somewhere that gave him a real structured/"dedicated" lesson plan and support system. You send him hundreds of miles away from his real support system (sorry some kats you just met a few weeks ago aren't you real support system) to a large public university that really can give two ***** about what you do in the classroom as long as you make the mins required to stay eligible. A school that isn't going to help you later in life if those NFL dreams don't come true. But hey their scheme is more DT friendly (until it isn't).

Mentor is the guy who sells a kid who needs real structure in his life about the things off the field that he needs to be concerned about(sorry if you already have to get shipped off to family in HS because your messing up in school it's safe to assume you aren't mature and self dedicated enough to be off on your own). Mentors let the friends and family and hangerons talk up NFL dreams because that what it is a **** dream and only a select few get to achieve it, they are focusing on real mfer life and what best for you in life. Worse part is when the dudes without a plan outside of football don't make the league they end up right back at they **** momma house and the "handler" is nowhere to be found.

No issues with real mentoring. None at all. Even from stab um in the back luke.

but that's not what we are talking here. This is not a big brothers of America example that most of us are referring to. People keep bringing it back to the good examples of true father figures or community leaders who help.

not fake school reppin', subscription sellin', cheap t-shirt makin', but really cash pocketing "mentors"

Death penalty was NEVER AVAILABLE because we were not on probation when the violations occurred. Shows you how dumb the media and Emmert are.

We are on probation now.....any ***** ups and they will throw the f**ing book at us.

So an administrator of this site thinks we should play ball with these shady characters? Interesting.

Adapt or die

Wow. Really? Did we just not go through a period of turmoil where the death penalty was being discussed and we got off easier than expected because the NCAA ****ed up?

Please stop with the Death penalty... We wasn't going to get that... A few talking heads brought it up for attention but it was never a reality... There will never be another Death Penalty... Both OSU and USC committed infractions that were worse than us and they never came close to a death penalty... Death Penalty also includes a tv ban and they don't do that anymore... Opposing schools say it hurts them as well...

Everyone isn't getting paid, our coaches have to just win... The coaches in the area has always behaved like this... We just need to win... No complaining about it... Although they have flaws what good is it to get rid of those guys then anger the youth in the community? Like it or not these players look up to those guys...

We had players signing with a sport agency owned by a UM booster for over 6 figures.. Free drinks wasn't the issue.

The point is that we are Miami, and we are getting more of a penalty than the average program for less of an offense. No doubt that the death penalty talk was probably over exaggerated, but that wouldn't even been in the conversation if anyone else was accused of the same thing.

I'll never say a good word about Chad Wilson.

Yesterday was proof he's a fraud.

I haven't sided with Golden on much lately, but I'll take his side when it comes to him versus the Egos, I mean Wilsons.

Their hand, palm facing the sky. You never hear of a "MENTOR" with a kid from SO FL who goes to say FIU or GA Southern, low end 1-A or high end 1-AA schools, who by the way are pretty solid players in their own right.

Who are the ones need mentoring to help them improve their recruiting chances!

If he cared about kid, your right, kid is still getting the opportunity to get an education and expand his chances of success in life.

Not true Yearby mentor (since Pete threw him out there) is also TY mentor. Along with a host of other kids that will never come close to a Miami offer. You won't hear about a mentor because this shiit ain't about him just the kids.

This. There are good people out there that legitimately want to help kids. The reason we don't hear about guys like this is they don't want any spotlight, they are there to help young people

Pete lumped other mentors in with Genron (who is a handler) because he continually tries to defend and prop up his boy Genron.

Wow....they co-opted Pete. This is sad.

You also wont hear people talking about Jon Drummond driving all these kids to schools like WKU Cincinnati & Akron but he does it in the summer. Chad Wislon taking Causey and Lammons on trips to UT & USC when he already knew Quincy was going to UF.
