JoJo Trader… (not hurt)

He specifically mentioned snatching someone's #1, not jags, which I agree with.

However I appreciate the sentiment with your post. I agree we've recruited well & need to actually develope & give them the opportunity to do so. If we had Emory starting or brought in a guy like Mendoza then I'd say just roll with what we've got because the offensive ceiling is probably limited from jump.

Bringing in Beck who has shown he needs A1 talent to be the best version of himself but also shown that he can compete at the highest level means you can't afford to risk his 1 season on an entire room of inexperienced guys. To put those kind of expectations on freshman is probably not putting them in the best position as well because some take longer than others to be their best self.

I'm in favor of develpment. I love development.

But we paid a lot of money for Carson Beck and he's got 10 months left on the clock. We can't wait for WRs to be amazing in 2026.

We lost our top 4 WRs from 2024. We've taken 1 transfer thus far, though I don't know where he will shake out in the mix. Taking a solid/proven #1 from another team is not going to keep younger guys off the field if they are ready to perform.

I'd prefer not to roll out a cast of true freshmen and sophomores for Beck to throw to. Mix in some veterans.

Beck is going to be 5x better this year with us on personnel and coaching alone. Our current weapons and o line lap Uga and Dawson is light years ahead of bobo

Makes zero sense to poach a guy to take away reps from jojo and other talented young guys just to bring in a jag at the position. Which is what the majority of guys entering in the spring window are. Look how long it took to click for Sam brown last season with no spring. Play the guys we have we aren’t getting anyone more talented than the 24 class guys in the spring window .

Respectfully, I really don't think you understand how this goes now or what I am saying here.

I am not advocating shopping for the desperate bargain bin dregs that "enter the portal". I am advocating for big boy recruiting quality starters currently on other teams if it makes your team better. Because, for better or worse, that is the state of college football in 2025.

I

My point is there aren’t number 1 wide receivers just hopping in the portal

Miami got ****ed in the winter portal because none of those WRs in the portal wanted to play with Emory Williams

“Kirby Smart on new WR transfers Noah Thomas and Zachariah Branch: "They're high-caliber athletes, but they're high-caliber people."

Those are just two WRs we missed out on

I’ve heard Zachariah Branch came in like Cam Ward did for us last year and just kicked the door down as an alpha leader at Georgia, he’s needed no adjustment period at all

Carson Beck in 2023 was throwing to two 1st rounders and his offensive line was a Joe Moore Finalist (Top 4)

If we can surround him with added necessary pieces in the spring portal he could exceed 2023 based off the experience and being in his 6th year of college now

That is the repercussion for penny-pinching HS recruiting at the position.
