Joe Schad: Les Miles Could Be Fired By End of Today

This has to be the craziest year I can remember for coaching turnover. The contracts these guys are going to demand are going to skyrocket, we better be ready to pony up the cash.

True les hasn't been as good as the talent suggests he should be. But its one position you need to win a ship and that's the position he has yet to get to Lsu.... QB. he won't have that prob at UM. HE Would Kill shid here. Yall some idiots

This. I would take Butch over Les. Some convincing arguments as to why he wouldn't be as good here.

Yeah, the more I actually think about Les as a candidate, the more I see what Franchise and others are saying.
 
I wouldn't be mad with Les, but his recent lack of success with all of the resources at his disposal worries me. Since appearing in the national championship game his record is 35-14... his last two seasons even more concerning: 15-8.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be upset with Miles as our head coach, but I would be a bit concerned that he is declining. Sometimes guys just don't have fire in their bellies after they win a title or experience long-term success. I want a guy that is hungry to be the best in the business. This is why I would love Chip Kelly... he would want to create a dynasty here. I like Butch for a similar reason: he has unfinished business. Similar situation with guys like Patterson and Gundy: they're hungry to win.
 
Hasn't LSU always shelled out a ton of money for coordinators? Cam Cameron and Kevin Steele are both two of the highest paid in the SEC.

Miles strikes me as the CEO-type that doesn't really bring much in the way of innovation and needs very good coordinators to succeed.

If that's what we're stuck with, give me Butch over Les, and hopefully Butch is our floor for this coaching search.

Without those advantages, how would he do at "I wanna be Stanford of the south"?

It would come down to whether or not FSU is willing to pay more than the 5 mil a year they are currently paying for him. As well if LSU is willing to pay the 5 mil buyout for Fisher on top of the 15 mil buyout for Miles. LSU is in pretty **** good shape talent wise and Jimbo would do well there imo. He just needs a QB and he could sell that real easy to a good HS player.

You can get a hungrier better version of Les for half the price. His name is Butch Davis. This Les Miles **** has me scratching my dome.

I was all about taking Les Miles if he became available, but I think you guy are right now that I look at it. He's still better than a lot of candidates out there, but he's got question marks that are more severe than most. His offense does scare the **** out of me, and I don't think he could be successful here early because he needs a great OL and great lead RB, we have neither. I've never seen if he would be different with a good QB like Kaaya, I just know he's never had one (since like 07 anyway). Big risk there.

I'd take Butch over him. I think Miles is on the downhill, he seems burnt out, whereas I see Butch with that fire in him still and the desire to win before it's over. Butch may be a little older, but the least he would do is stabilize the program and put us in a better situation, while winning games, and raising money for football, until the next time to hire a coach roles around. I'm not going to rule out a NCG with Butch, it seems far fetched, but he could do it.

Also, what drew me to Les Miles was mainly Tommy Moffitt and a lot of his position coaches.. Wilson, Ed O, Corey Raymond, etc. If they are available I would like to make a run at all of them for next staff. Wouldn't care to pass up on Miles if it was for Butch, Herman, Patterson, Kelly etc. But if it's Mario... I'll be really ****ed

L$U makes does everything is can to remain relevant in the cfb world. Facility upgrades, High priced co-ordinators, I mean whatever Miles wanted, he got. And now you think he gonna do better with less??

We planned on keeping AG the entire year (knowing he would be gone by 2016) to save $. In a couple of hours, L$U found 15mil to buyout Miles !!! If you can win at a school like L$U, you aren't winning at UM. Keep that grass eating weirdo away!
