It’s not a Miami vs Georgia or vs Oregon thing. It’s a Mirable and Mario vs UGA and Oregon thing. Mirable and Mario are clearly better. By the way, Mario constructed the Oregon line that you talk about. Kirby Smart knows nothing about Oline compared to Mario
to be fair, UGA had 3 OL drafted in the most recent draft (1 second and 2 thirds).

It's a down year for OL, and they didn't want to compete with the 5* we signed 4 years ago.
**** the 5 star we signed 4 years ago can’t even get on the field

#OLFactory

All jokes aside I said somewhere else Mauigoa was better than both these guys at this point but we gotta land one though after all this. We’ve got no LT left after we lose the entire line on Day 1 of the draft

Let’s not forget Tyler Booker as Mario at one point coached Bama’s OL too…

Gonna be in the portal for at least 2 starting Oline jobs next year unfortunately

Injuries were a major factor to their OL last year

They had guys miss two and three games but literally every team has injuries. Our starting left tackle missed half the season. Our starting LG got hurt in week one and missed the rest of the year.

All we got left is Samson and Kinsler from 2023

2024 was a terrible recruiting cycle at OL with Plazz as the top rated guy we got other than Bell

SJ and more projects in 2025

I think the portal is a good option for any position but some of these guys gotta make the two deep legit

I agree with the ‘24 class, but that’s what happen when you go all in the previous year, take a bunch of low cost projects you hope can get one of them on the field from coaching/S&C.

I really like SJ and Buchanan for the future IOL, though the latter might need an extra year of development.

As much as I’m hopeful for Samson being able to put it all together, idk how I feel about just giving him the role because there’s no one else. He should get some burn this year. Same with Kinsler.

It’s perplexing how many projects get recruited at OL when you are a OL based coach

It should be like how Ohio State recruits WRs

Georgia was a Joe Moore finalist in 2022 and 2023 - those same lineman that just got drafted

Miami was only a Joe Moore Midseason finalist last year - Top 23

I’m probably in the minority here but I don’t look at much that has happened in college football before 2023

2022-2023 when NIL really took over has changed everything. Pre that gets an asterisk (why I don’t even bother with the Manny > Mario portal stuff either so it’s not just an anti Mario thing)

Do I default to thinking we will get the job done? I do. Just gonna need to see how this next year or two plays out

Why didn't he go to Miami with other Oregon commits then?

You going to give Mario credit for Kelvin Banks too because he was commited there before he left for Maimi

Seriously?

Recruits don't sign lifetime contracts with a coach. Once the coach has recruited them to a school, the players begin to make friends with their teammates and classmates. Coaching changes happen all the time, that doesn't mean players transfer and follow a coach anywhere he goes.

If Mario recruited the player to Oregon, he gets credit. If Mario also developed that player, he gets additional credit.

That is all.

Ideally, I’d want 5 star players at every position but in reality, you need to take occasional project players. I always prefer taking projects at OL because that position has the most room for growth. A freshman WR who’s 6’3” and runs 4.3 can contribute right away with very little development required. Linemen, outside of very rare cases almost always require a few years of college strength training and nutrition to reach their peak performance. You can mold 3 star guys with certain size and athletic traits into star linemen. They’re rarely plug and play players. Francis Mauigoa is a unicorn. Even this Cantwell kid likely won’t be getting reps as a freshman.

Didnt Mario say he wasnt going to actively recruit any of the kids who committed to him while at Oregon when he got hired?

Not defending him or hating on him. I thought I remember him saying that...which is the right thing to do. I used to tell kids "I expect to be here, but life throws you curveballs. So I should be a part of your decision but not the final piece. Pick this school because of the degree you will get, picture walking around campus if baseball isnt there...do you like it socially? The baseball piece is the easy part, I know you want to do that."

Now that is D2/D3/NAIA...and most people think D1 has 100% NFL draftees. But most kids actually do need the degree and the right fit socially

Cantwell is plug and play

Just look to the draft and see all the 5 star or top 100 OL that got drafted in the first round. It translates

Will Campbell- 40th overall - 3 year starter
Armound Membou- 4 star - 3 year starter
Kelvin Banks- 5 star- 3 year starter
Tyler Booker- 5 star- 3 year starter
Donovan Jackson- 5 star- 4 year starter

I don’t think he is that’s why I said for the bag he will get I don’t care if we land him or not

Mauigoa was the weak link on our line as a freshman

What does Mario/Miami get credit for?

Such weird hills to die on. I even see posters saying Mario and company have had nothing to do with Ward.

Baffling stuff. So Mario and Mirabel aren't OL guys?
The guy isnt the best coach on gamedays by any stretch of the imagination but tryna discredit his strengths (OLine play)/(Talent Acquisition) is very weird behavior to me..

Cantwell is much more Proctor than Francis. He’ll be a force in the run game day 1 but pass protection is going to be a challenge. I have zero doubt, as long as he stays healthy he’s at minimum a day 2 pick down the line
