Hypocrites tend to do this. It’s funny how this thread spiraled out of control just it’s thought Cantwell may go to another program. For the record, we need him to come here; and I won’t put anything past Mario’s relentless nature to recruit;

But, the stretch these cats r doing is Nick Wright-esq. lol

No doubt they do. They seem to be allergic to facts.

Regarding Cantwell, we ABSOLUTELY need him. Missing on Pepe already was a big loss. With all the resources we sunk into both Cantwell and Pepe, it would be a massive failure missing on both.

With that being said, the apologists will be out in full force if we do. I can already picture it.

"Man, how the **** did anyone expect us to land the #1 OL in the country from bum **** Mizzou. Ya'll were just unrealistic with that one. I mean, at least we were a finalist. Under Manny, he wouldn't even have considered us."

"Did you really expect to land a 5 star Samoan OL from Cali? Of course dude was going back home. You guys need to temper your expectations."

Those same people will also say.

"How did you expect us to land a 5 star WR from our backyard if Ohio State wanted him? Hartline owns SFL WRs. No way we are landing anyone he wants, even if they are from down here."

I mean, according to these apologists who can we expect this staff, who has top 7 NIL money, and a staff with more resources than anybody in the ACC and the most ever in program history, to land? We all know the answer. It's only those that actually choose to come to Miami, since we won those battles. But if we lose a battle, the excuses run rampant.

Did Richt walk into an admirable, productive situation? U wanna talk about a coach that inherited bull ****? That’s Mark Richt.

1. 3 yrs removed from probation.
2. Facilities in shambles
3. Taken over for a HC that alienated the fan base
4. Inheriting a team that suffered its worst home lost in history
5. A team w horrible S&C, using pizza & burgers as its bulking guide

Did that stop him from IMMEDIATELY turning the program around pre-NIL, pre-Portal, mind u? Richt had to work w what he had. Like what do ya’ll be talking about?

I am going to have to disagree there. Richt inherited a lot of quality players that weren’t in good shape or being used correctly. This is our roster for our 10 win season.

I count around 16–17 starters that are junior or seniors, meaning Golden recruits.

I’ve said it before and I haven’t changed my opinion- Golden was a better recruiter than Richt, while Richt was a better coach. Part of Diazs failure can be attributed to the dogsh!t roster on offense he inherited from Richt. And yet Diaz fixed that part of the roster (not his side of the ball!) in one season, basically by getting Deriq King and turning UM into a top 26 offense. He lost fewer games in a Covid season than his illustrious counterpart at Oregon and likely wins 10 games in year 2 if it had been a normal season (2 more cupcakes, no Clemson ). He likely gets close to that total again in year 3 with a healthy King, then it falls apart year 4 with TVD as his starter.

I believe it would have looked virtually identical to what we will see with Cristobal in year 4. Ward covered up a ton of flaws. Beck is talented but he’s not good enough to hide the problems. Miami is going to get blasted by the run because of the weak DL and LBs, which means can’t control TOP. That was the same issue we had last year but it didn’t get fixed.
We have a much better secondary so at the end of the season people will stand up and clap at the improvement in pass defense, but a big part of that will be that teams didn’t need to pass as they could just churn out yards on the ground and keep the ball out of Becks hands.

My friend, Many Díaz is a POS.

At least with Mario there's a faint/slight hope that he can build/recruit a roster Talented enough coupled with great coordinators to catch lightning in a bottle one season ED orgeron CEO style with a Talented QB...Manny on the other didn't do anything good enough Coaching or Recruiting wise to give us any hope of a Natty, a place like Duke is perfect for him as HC , not the U.

So the goals for Miami is catch lightning in a bottle once in a while for all these resources... how about win or GTFOH?

Well this certainly has gone to ****. Stay on topic ya greasy ********. The only thing that matters is pants down or nah?

They weren’t “quality” under Golden, that’s the point. Richt used what he had & used them properly. That’s called coaching; that’s what coaches do. Golden recruited well, but coached poorly, thus hindering development & progress. For God sake, we had Chad Thomas playing this weird “hold the edge” technique as a balloon, both he & Chick.

So my point was Richt didn’t walk into an ideal situation; in fact, out of his own mouth he asked “where’s the big guys at” b/c we didn’t look the part. Immediately we became contenders.

Once again…

There’s zero reason to be loud & wrong constantly on this board when there’s something called the internet available. I know this fan base has this propensity of speaking out of pocket b/c the only thing ya’ll know r sun shades that come in the colors Orange & Green, but here are the facts:

1. Did Mario have to scramble to complete Miami’s ‘22 class? Yes, & credit to him. In fact, I big upped him for this.

2. Did Dan Lanning walk in to an already, ready-made class of ‘22? Lmao; how do I say this politely: FCK. NO.

Mario half assed recruiting for Oregon b/c he had one foot out the door. Oregon’s class of ‘22 had ‘18 total commits. Do u know how many commits they had prior to Lanning accepting the job 12/11/2021? 7:

-4* Devon Jackson
-4* Ben Roberts (no longer on the team)
-4* Trejon Williams (no longer on the team)
-4* Jalil Tucker (no longer on the team)
-4* Harrison Taggart (no longer on the team)
-3* Sir Mells (no longer on the team)
-3* Michael Wooten (no longer on the team)

Lmao

-Conerly
-Lowe
-Kasper
-Florence
-Luli
-James
-Terrell
-Winston
-Rogers
-Jones
-Dune

ALL committed either after ESD or NSD to Lanning, & he had to attack the portal, as well.

So how’s that any different than Mario having his 7, in house commits prior to him taking the job? :

-4* Khamari Rogers
-4* Wesley Bissainthe
-4* Chris Graves
-4* Markeith Williams
-4* Jacurri Brown
-4* Isaiah Horton
-3* Jaden Harris

Mario had 7 guys in tow, & Lanning had 7 guys in tow; the only difference is at least Mario got some production out of Brown, Bissainthe, Williams, & Horton, & Harris b4 each hit the portal (sans Bissainthe & Williams); Lanning only got production out of Jackson…don’t believe me?

Trejon Williams: 0 stats
Jahlil Tuckers 2 assisted tackles
Ben Roberts: 4 assisted tackles & 1 tackle in 2 seasons
Harrison Taggart: 0 stats
Sir Mells: 0 stats
Michael Wooten: 0 stats

Now would u like for me to bring up Bissainthe, Horton, Harris, Brown, & Williams stats by comparison?

Like I said, stop these narratives. It’s OK to say Lanning did a good job on his own merit, that doesn’t make u a fan of his or a slurper of his. In fact, I went on wax & said I didn’t think Lanning would succeed at UO, & I was proven completely wrong b/c it’s OK to be wrong, believe it or not.

What Lanning is doing at UO has **** to do w Mario, just like what Mario is doing here has **** to do w Diaz. Each coach is responsible for their own program, not what their predecessors did or didn’t do. What’s incredibly frustrating about this fan base is that there’s empirical evidence to support this statement RIGHT HERE IN CORAL GABLES!

Did Richt walk into an admirable, productive situation? U wanna talk about a coach that inherited bull ****? That’s Mark Richt.

As stated numerous times by me, ya’ll have more excuses than a little bit, create bull **** narratives w/ no substance that can easily be debunked. This is the main reason y I cannot wait for the day until we start winning again to stop this board’s insanity.

Edit: & to put this Mario = Conerly bull **** to rest; Conerly didn’t even OV to UO until March 2022. Lol. So yeah, Lanning had to work his *** off to get him to commit b/c Conerly was “this close” to playing w Caleb & Lincoln at USC. Lmao. In fact, USC & Nat’l writers were certain he was committing to USC.

Facts Mario has to do what Lanning is doing at Oregon. And he is not in terms of recruiting IMO

It’s better than all previous coaches not named Butch but it’s still a big par below

we had that last year and we still couldn't beat GT and Syracuse

Every p4 team who spends like us goal is to go 15-0 every year bro, Im just laying out the most likely scenario to a chip with Mario as HC , he's not a X'Os guy, if we win a championship with him it will most likely be because we have an extremely talented roster.

He is more handicapped by being in the ACC than any prior coach in UM history. The momentum on the "P2" is huge ... Miami needs to be part of that soon.
