Ivins Update 6-17-20

We have a good amount of first and second year tackles on the roster: Walker, Rivers, Nelson, Campbell, Washington, El Gamal, McLaughlin once he gets in. Nothing wrong with beefing up the interior.
Rivers has been playing guard, McLaughlin need 2 years at least to develop, El gammal has not been looking that good according to some reports, which leaves us with Campbell, Nelson, and Walker. We were just complaining about how the tackle position has been so bad, now we get a grad transfer and one solid recruit at that position and all of the sudden we are good. Nah, they need to somehow get an elite tackle in this class.

He didn't say they were good, he said numbers wise we got a good amount which is true. Your opinion of there talent is irrelevant.

Just thinking that we are so tight on numbers and with us getting walker and Williams and Williams counting forward already and we have an OL full of guards on the roster already let’s go after an elite tackle

There is still plenty of dead weight this program can and will shed if we continue stockpiling talent.

Easier said than done. Rivers will be an OT, or at least get every chance to compete for one of the spots in a year or 2. It isn't uncommon for young OTs to start their college careers at OG when possible.

Jaden Alexis really likes Texas but Miami isn't out of it. Breshard is very much in okay obviously.
Ok if a kid is into Texas I am going to say the kid would not like Miami. I don't know the kid of course but does the kid understand the culture of Texas? It isfor country kids. Miami is City. a guy fits into one or the other

23 for 21.

@Canes Legacy 24 spots are available for 2021 if Miami can convince 2021 DE Jabari Ishmael to come as a preferred walkon using his father's UM employee dependent free tuition benefits his dad Victor has been an asst S&C coach for I believe 15+ yrs, an after 10yrs of service employees dependents can attend UM for free). Then set the young man up as a priority for name and likeness opportunities to help cover his housing expenses. Or Ishmael can commute for a year and pocket the money from the marketing gigs. Then after his 1st year at UM award him a full scholarship in after spring oF 2022 and Ishmael will only count against the 85 man cap and not the 25 initial counter.

Randy Shannon's son Xavier came to Miami as a grad transfer olinemen year ago from FIU when Randy was the Head Coach in similar manner only it was for 1 year.

Go Canes
