In 2011, Grooms, Kinard and Gadbois didnt enroll that cycle (Gadbois did next cycle).

In 2012, AJL and probably Witt never became initial counters, and not sure V. Davis did as he left before school started but did suit up in camp.

In 2013, Bond, Griffin and Lockley didn’t enroll to the best of my recollection.

1. The IC rules were instituted in mid-2011, so Golden's first Signing Class in 2011 doesn't even count. Thus, Grooms/Kinard/Gadbois do not count as ICs, because the IC rule didn't exist. I listed 2011 in case that explained why we exceeded 25 in 2012. Regardless, Grooms/Kinard/Gadbois never were ICs for 2011. The IC rules applied to the 2012 Signing Class. Gadbois is on the 2012 list, thus he counts as an IC for 2012.

2. In 2012, Antonio Jean-Louis failed to qualify (pre-2018-rule-change), so I'll give you that one. However, Josh Witt was an early enrollee. Yes, he suffered a medical issue in the summertime, but he WAS an Initial Counter. "When doing some more digging, it appears concussions did in the freshman linebacker before his Miami years officially began. Witt, an early enrollee who has been practicing with the Canes, will never play football again. His dream ended before it even began." As for Vernon Davis, yes, he enrolled at Miami and then nearly immediately transferred, thus he counts as an IC as well. "Vernon Davis grew up dreaming of playing for the Miami Hurricanes. But that dream apparently died after a few weeks of training camp. The freshman cornerback from Miami Coral Reef received his release from scholarship Tuesday and according to his former high school coach will be headed to West Virginia on Wednesday morning."

3. In 2013, Devante Bond did not enroll at Miami, he was a JuCo who fell one course short of being able to transfer. Derrick Griffin also did not qualify. Ryheem Lockley also did not qualify.

4. You completely misunderstand my point about signee/enrollee numbers. YES, under pre-2018 rules, the signees DID count as ICs if they enrolled. You fundamentally misunderstand the IC rules. If they enroll, they are ICs. The 2018 rules didn't change that. I wasn't giving year-by-year numbers, which MIGHT be impacted by grayshirting/blueshirting (which Miami did not do). With the exception of the FOUR non-enrollees in 2012-2013, everyone else enrolled.

5. I said we didn't have any academic non-qualifiers, and I was wrong. We had three high school non-qualifiers from 2012-13 (Jean-Louis, Griffin, and Lockley) and one JuCo who didn't finish his AA degree requirements.

6. I said we didn't have any grayshirts/blueshirts, and I was correct.

7. So, from 2012-2019, we can revise the numbers to 197 signees (including 2019 portal transfers) for 200 IC slots. As you correctly pointed out, we had 4 non-qualifiers, so that number goes down to 193 enrollees for 200 IC slots, though I have only included 4 transfers that I could think of for the 2012-2018 years (I included the 8 transfers in 2019). So we are still looking at 24 ICs per year for 8 years, and I haven't even done much research on the transfers and late signees for 2012-2018. So, yeah, probably closer to 25 per year than the "20 or 21" that some posters would have us believe.

Again, this should end the myth of "Golden and Richt intentionally undersigned for eight consecutive years" nonsense.

Per Derek's post, and assuming everything to be correct, he is saying:

In 2014, we had 4 IC countbacks to 2013. All spots filled in.
In 2017, we had 3 IC countbacks to 2016. All spots filled in.
In 2018, we had 3 IC countbacks to 2017. All spots filled in.
In 2019, we had 2 IC countbacks to 2018. All spots filled in.

Seems reasonable. Seems like Golden and Richt were using every scholarship available under the IC rules.

I'm just pointing out when the rules began, in 2012. Thus, the concept of countbacks before that time did not apply. I'm not sure if they gave us a "free five countback" in 2012 if you did not sign 25 in 2011. Seems like that would be a reasonable transition rule.

Also, there is the mid-year graduation replacement rule exception. I would imagine that in 8 years, we have had a few of those. At the same time, we might not have everyone on the list, such as Vincent Testaverde. While he was a walk-on at Texas Tech, the rules in place at the time would have required him to be at UM for 2 years prior to getting a scholarship to NOT count as an IC. If we gave him a scholarship sooner, he WOULD count as an IC. I don't claim to know all of his details, I'm just pointing it out.

I give you full credit, you have probably come closer than anyone else to proving that we have used all of our available IC slots.

Jaelan Phllips and Asa Martin enrolled, and should be counted as ICs.

Crispian Atkins came to UM in 2016 and was given a scholarship by Golden in 2017, so under the old rules, he counted as an IC for 2017.

I do not believe Clay James has a scholarship yet, so he should not count as an IC.

3. In 2013, Devante Bond did not enroll at Miami, he was a JuCo who fell one course short of being able to transfer. Derrick Griffin also did not qualify. Ryheem Lockley also did not qualify.

4. You completely misunderstand my point about signee/enrollee numbers. YES, under pre-2018 rules, the signees DID count as ICs if they enrolled. You fundamentally misunderstand the IC rules. If they enroll, they are ICs. The 2018 rules didn't change that. I wasn't giving year-by-year numbers, which MIGHT be impacted by grayshirting/blueshirting (which Miami did not do). With the exception of the FOUR non-enrollees in 2012-2013, everyone else enrolled.

5. I said we didn't have any academic non-qualifiers, and I was wrong. We had three high school non-qualifiers from 2012-13 (Jean-Louis, Griffin, and Lockley) and one JuCo who didn't finish his AA degree requirements.

6. I said we didn't have any grayshirts/blueshirts, and I was correct.

7. So, from 2012-2019, we can revise the numbers to 197 signees (including 2019 portal transfers) for 200 IC slots. As you correctly pointed out, we had 4 non-qualifiers, so that number goes down to 193 enrollees for 200 IC slots, though I have only included 4 transfers that I could think of for the 2012-2018 years (I included the 8 transfers in 2019). So we are still looking at 24 ICs per year for 8 years, and I haven't even done much research on the transfers and late signees for 2012-2018. So, yeah, probably closer to 25 per year than the "20 or 21" that some posters would have us believe.

Again, this should end the myth of "Golden and Richt intentionally undersigned for eight consecutive years" nonsense.

I pointed out the rules changed in ‘18. You asked what that meant. I explained.

i pointed out that prior to ‘18, it was enrollees not LOIs that mattered. You now agree.

i pointed to some kids who sgned LOIs pre ‘18 but didnt emroll.

I made clear I didn’t know whether Witt counted. Enrolled but never played because of injury. I believe the school can get the spot back against the 85 limit, not sure re 25 limit.

So it’s clear your list of LOI signees going back to Gluten era wasn’t an accurate way to measure initial counters year to year. It overstates it to the extent a kid didn’t enroll, but may miss some kids who did enroll but didn’t first sign an LOI.

Shrug.

I'm going with 27 including the portal
QB, 2RB, 4 WR (Emilen), 1 TE, 5OL (incl 1 portal), 2 DT, 3 DE, 4 LB (incl K.wash striker), 5 DB (Brown, Harrell, Francois)

- If they only bring 3 prep OL (1 less) OR don't bring in the 5th DB OR Tell K.Wash to walk, then DE Harrell/ portalkicker/4th pure lb/2nd TE (Washington/Alford??) are the subs...So basically, 5th OL/5th DB/K.Wash are the questionable spots
- If they keep the OL, and somehow land Flowe (not buying as of now), then I would expect Mathis (summer enrollee) to sign elsewhere if they can't fit 4 plus the striker (which is very possible)
- the sub for the striker spot imo if no K.Wash is Reaves from Edison (I like Reaves better, but jmo so means nada) or Gibson (also could be the 4th LB)
- the sub for Francois (if they take 5 without him), would be Bennett, Daemon Hill, or maybe even Gabe Taylor as a late surprise.

In addition to the question on whether our 2020 class is full now, or has 1 to 2 more to give, someone else said we could apply May grad transfers to 2021. Is that true?

Pretty sure we understand that to be false. May is the same academic year as January signings - 2020-21 academic year.
