You have no idea what it takes to be the face of a P5 program.

Developing players - We need someone to take elite talent and put it up against other elite talent. This guy takes 2-stars and beats 2-stars and bad opposing coaching.

Being able to win - Winning at some level doesn't mean you can win at any level. Otherwise, let's bring in Bill Castle.

Limited resources - He is playing against other teams that have limited resources as well. He's not trying to outrecruit and outcoach Clemson and Florida.

Is there a coach who is winning their conference and competing for National Championships who would be willing to come here for $4million a year? If not, by your logic we are sunk.

No, there is not, and yes, we are sunk. Haven't argued either one of those points.

2000 Bowling Green was 2-9
2001 Bowling Green was 8-3 with Meyer
2002 Utah was 5-6
2003 Utah was 10-2 with Meyer

Florida went from 7-5 to 9-3 under Meyer
Ohio State went from 6-7 to 12-0 under Meyer

I'll buy the talent argument at Florida & Ohio State, but come on... 2-9 Bowling Green and 5-6 Utah had talent for that big of a turn around?

Plus even though OSU & Florida had talent, theres a huge gap between talented and dominant, which happened almost instantly at both stops.

Not to crap on Meyer, he's an elite HC, but OSU tanked the season between Tressell leaving and Urban arriving. Tressell was 23-3 his last two seasons, before he was forced out in a scandal. 66-11 the six seasons prior to his ouster. Meyer did not resurrect a talentless roster.

That was a season in limbo for them no doubt, but to immediately go 12-0? Credit to him.

If the requirement is a proven winner, hire Les Miles away from Kansas. He won at NC at LSU. His salary at KU is $2.76M (per Wikipedia FWIW). Buy him out and pay him Richt's salary of $4M. He certainly knows people and should be able to hire a staff with more than MAC credentials.
