Been trying to tell y’all........
@Liberty City El too.
This kid is ABSURDLY good at exactly what our offensive coordinator does. It’s a perfect marriage. And the cherry on top is you don’t need a dominating, road grading OL to do it. Just some semblance of competency. And seeing as how every single kid who played a snap there last season is back, plus Rivers, plus Reed, plus Traore....it’s GOT to be at least a little better.
You can’t put the expectations for this kid high enough. He is a legit, proven Top 10 (at worst) college QB as of today, and I’m not sure you could’ve hired many OCs that would be better equipped to showcase him.
Kicking *should be* light years better than 2019, when it was probably our #1 Achilles heel. Punting *should* continue to be good to very good, as it was last year compared to 2018, when it was probably our #1 Achilles heel.
Defense *should* be plenty good enough to win this division, as it has indisputably been all 4 years Manny has been here.
Mr. Lashlee? You’ve got a Ferrari in the garage. This guy made Shane Buchele, who was average at best at Texas (with athletes Texas gets playing in the literal defense-less Big 12) into a kid who did this last season:
#6 nationally in YPG
#25 nationally in passer rating
#34 nationally in YPA
#6 nationally in passing TDs
#5 nationally in attempts, and 3 of the 4 guys ahead of him threw more picks. Only one that didn’t? Joe Burrow
And did I mention he did this while rushing for 8 yards per game? Eight. He can only beat you 1 way. Defenses knew it, and Lashlee had him putting up the numbers he did. Imagine with a kid who you have to defend his legs maybe even more than his arm? Pants. Off.
