Interview with N'Kosi Perry

This kid reminds me of Rakeem Cato with a much better arm...

High football IQ, terrific arm & accurate passer, he's been the best QB in the state since his Junior year.

He's not as out of the QB race as a lot of people may think, I go back & forth with who I think will be the starter, but I always hope Perry comes in & wins the job above all.

I think Rosier or Shireffs start the year, but I would love to be wrong and have this kid come in and take the job.
I think they do too... I just said I hope Perry wins it, apparently that's the same as saying he's going to win the Heisman as a Freshman & lead us to a National title lol

Never thought you were saying he was going to win the Heisman. The kid is the guy Richt wants to win the job and he will be given every chance.

It's better for us that its the QB Richt picked, he has trained the offense to Perry's strengths.

Rick picked a lot of ****** QBs at UGA. He's no miracle QB selector. Good thing Perry is going to hit the ground running and have no learning curve because Rick picked him.
If that's the case, then none of his selections should be trusted, Rosier, Perry, Shirreffs & Sitkow included.

Rick signed Rosier and Shirreffs? When it comes to the QB spot, I need to see them do it while the band is playing.

HS accolades are nice, and Perry is a great talent. But so was Kenny Kelly, and he struggled badly. And he didn't get forced into starting as a true freshmans. A far less talented Dorsey eventually stole his lunch money and made him a minor league baseball player.

This is a whole other level of football when it comes to playing QB. There is so much thinking and information processing that goes into playing QB for Rick that it's almost foolish to think that Perry will come in and win the job in a month. A lot of dudes on here set Allison up too. Now, he's a bum.
I don't actually think Perry will win the job, I just hope he does...

I'm just not convinced that Rosier or Shirreffs equals automatic 10+ win season either.

I get the best chance to win now argument, but it will become null & void if the upperclassmen don't beat FSU.

Day 1 starter. Kid is a dog. No way pretty boy Rosier or Sheriffs beat him out. This is his team now.

Maybe, but Richt is the one who keeps leaving the door open.

He said he wanted to see what Perry can do before he locked in anything.

Perry at the very least will get a fair shake. We'll see if he's ready.

What else do you expect him to say publicly? He's hoping Perry comes in and looks like a world beater. There's no way he's going to publicly state that Perry isn't in the race.

This whole "Richt picked some ****** QBs at UGA" thing is a little harsh IMO even though it's not exactly a false statement.

I mean how many NFL GMs make colossal mistakes on QBs every year? It's just a hard position to be right on all the time.

Richt is better than most, but not as good as some when it comes to QB evaluations.

N'kosi Perry hands down has the most talent and potential out of every qb on the roster.... perfectly fine with playing both Rosier and Perry then ride out with Perry the rest of the way.

Next years QB depth chart is going to look completely different...

N'Kosi Perry guaranteed starter

Evan Shirreffs as a quality back-up for the rest of his UM career.

Artur Sitkowski redshirting

Jack Allison and Cade Weldon gone.

Perry's not the guaranteed starter next year, nor is he this year...

Weldon's not transferring, his pops trusts Richt more than any other Coach in the country, he wants his son to play for Richt & just because Cade isn't playing as a Freshman doesn't mean he's just gonna up & leave next year.

Also, Rosier is a Red Junior, which means he'll still have a year of eligibility left & it's pretty clear he's not an NFL QB, so unless he just graduates and leaves I wouldn't be shocked to see him come back as a Senior as well.

Sitkowski could also also end up playing next year too if he shows he's better than everyone else...
I don't believe that will happen, but they'll be a lot of people calling for it if he shows up as an EE & looks good early on.

None of this stuff is written in stone is the point.

Richt is much better than most, to say some **** like "richt picked some ****** qbs at UGA" is something i would expect someone that drools when they talk to say.

**** i didnt realize Rosier was redshirted. I still think N'kosi Perry is the one out of the group thats next up to lead this team. He brings a different type of talent to the offense. Being a legit qb, can move in the pocket but also extend plays outside the pocket, and also be a dynamic run threat as well.

That's something UM hasnt had at all, and after the Brad Kaaya era i'm ready to go with a qb thats being compared to Charlie Ward.

Agree, but Richt mentioned him without any prompting.

I think he *wants* Perry to win the job because he's the most talented, but he's definitely not going to hand it to him.

The only thing I worry about is that Perry may get a special waiver and go directly to the NFL. You know know Belicheck can't wait to kick Brady to the curb.

After all the supposedly good-great QBs we had who haven't gotten us over the hump I think we are finally due for a
Game changer and for 1 of these guys to pan out.

You make a lot of sense. Leave it to Belichick to steal our sure fire Heisman winner away from under us

I don't think it's unrealistic to see Perry winning the job. Kaaya did pretty well as true FR summer enrollee. That kid at Texas did pretty well as well. It's not such a hard learning curve anymore if they pick up the speed of the game because high schools are running much of the same offenses as colleges are, with alot of shotgun and read plays from these formations. I mean even look at the job the staff did with the 3 LBs. My thinking is Perry seems to have a natural feel for the game, something you have or you don't. He already has the playbook. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the job, I expect him to.

Kayaa won 6 games his true freshman year.

Kid at Texas won 5.

Eason at UGA with 8 wins.

Not sure what you mean by "pretty well." None of those win totals are acceptable this year.

Mentioned elsewhere we could see a Kenny Kelly (Rosier/Shireffs)/Dorsey (Perry) '99 scenario. Will be surprised if Perry just gets here late and grabs the QB spot outright.
he

Gosh, I remember the KK day's like it was yesterday. If Perry has the football brains and determination not to lose, like Dorsey, we will be some happy folks the next few years.

If Rosier doesn't get starting job this yr he will leave next yr as a grad transfer. Thats about guaranteed.

I think Shirreffs will stay even as a backup. Its not like he was highly recruited or something. Maybe I could see him leaving in 2 yrs as a graduate transfer. But I think he'll stick around for the next 2 yrs as a solid backup option.

Weldon should get a RS this year, as he is basically out of the qb race already, but Perry should not, even if he doesn't win the starting job.

But if Allison wins the starting job, I really don't see anybody other than Rosier transferring. You only really see QBs transfer when it is someone in their year or someone younger than them that wins the starting job. Allison very well could start this year and in 2018, then declare early for the draft. Then Perry could get the starting job for 2019 and 2020, then Sitkowski the next 2 yrs if he had a RS, then whoever the next qb is and so on. But we definitely want to get into a position where we get 1 qb every class and we never start freshman.

I truly think some of you guys are out of your minds. We cannot waste a championship defense on Perry --a true freshman --that did not play in a sophisticated offense in HS. There is a zero % chance that guy comes in to win the job after missing the spring---ZERO!!

He needs to redshirt, learn the system, enhance his footwork, and learn to read defenses at this level. We must play the best guy, and the besst guy will be either Rosier, Sherrifs or perhaps even Allison, in order to try to win the ACC and perhaps have a shot at the playoffs.

If we start Perry we will have wasted this championship caliber defense. Cannot happen! That's the kind of **** Al Golden would do.

We must try to win NOW!
