Interesting stat

You convinced me. King is trash. Give me the razor when you're done.

King isn't trash at all. He's going to make huge plays with his feet all year. But there's a very real possibility his passing is going to hurt us too.

It's not you're Drew Brees or you're absolute trash - as hard as a concept as this is to grasp - there's a big space in between those 2 extremes where I think King is.

You know that connection gets made later in the season. This is the effect of a lack of a spring practice and game. Most teams are rustier than usual.

I don't.

We didn't improve much from the start of 2019 to the end.
We didn't improve much from the start of 2018 to the end.

It's a possibility we're much better at the end of this year than we were at the start - but that's not the norm for Canes teams the last 15 years.

I hope it happens, I'm just not expecting it to happen.

Who better to start a smear campaign against if you're a true Canes fan than our best QB in 20 years? Let's go! King is trash! He missed a wide open Payton in the endzone, and we lost to UAB as a result.

Did you just crown King as better than Ken Dorsey after 1 game? Ballsy

What's your point? We know King missed some passes. Everyone saw it. You're not a genius for discovering it. You're also not uncovering anything if it's your opinion that King isn't a great passer. He's an OK passer, but he's a way better QB than anything we've had here in a long time when you look at EVERYTHING he does.

We gained 500 yards, scored 31 points, and won by 17 against a team that probably would have dragged us last year. If you follow national media, you'd know that a lot of people though UAB would beat us. If you're a Canes fan, then you're feeling good and hopeful about the obvious progress from our last 3 games of 2019.

I truly have no idea what point you're trying to make here. No one thinks King is a great passer, so anyone who is expecting that is an idiot. Is it your thing to take a player every year and try to tear him down?

I sincerely hope you can see a difference between King and Rosier or Willams.

Yes. I've said I 100% agree with you on this multiple times now. Is there something I'm saying that confusing you here?
You're saying nothing. King needs to improve as a passer? No ****. Good luck if you ever think he's going to be a great passer, but lots of college teams win with super athletic QBs who are great leaders and average passers. If it's great passing stats you require, then you'll be sticking pins in your King doll all season.

Being the positive person that I am, I put those missed throws in the rust category, considering the fact that he hasn’t played in a full football game for a year, didn’t have a spring practice, and had a weird fūcked up summer practice, like everyone else.

I think most people here would agree that he’s probably an average passer, but I also think the arm is there, and it doesn’t take a super passer to hit wide-open receivers.

We don’t need him to be Jared Goff. We just need him to make average throws, and take care of the ball. His talent on the ground and his ability to create plays, as well as scramble throws with WRs running open, should make him a dynamic difference maker at the position.

At least that’s what I hope anyway. One game in and I refuse to be a stinky rotten ****** about it by already starting to anticipate him sucking at passing all season. What kind of a flappy cūnt lip yeast infection does that? Bshaw does, that’s who.

Now think about what we did with Malik Rozier.

Now imagine King in his place. We can do something with this guy. I rest my case.

Plug Ken Dorsey into this team in this era of spread football, and you'd be hating him with every ounce of yo

We're not far off on anything we're saying here. I agree King's more talented than any QB we've had in a long time. I hope that talent can translate to wins. He's got a mediocre OL and mediocre WR's that are going to be a challenge, but hopefully King becomes that "I'll put the team on my back" type of QB we've been lacking for so long.

Those missed passes don't fall on the whole team, it's the coordination between QB and receiver. That will improve.
I hope so. We've got Louisville & FSU next.

Jarren Williams tthrew for 600 yds & 8 TD's last year vs these 2 teams - so this may be just what the doctor ordered.

The rust thing may be real. I'm hoping this was just a rusty game.

I think all the reports from practice that King was a much better passer than advertised, and King putting up big numbers in the scrimmages got my expectations too high.

I thought we'd come out slinging it a little better than what we saw. So I probably just got ahead of myself.

King has some magic in him for sure - so hopefully we see that against Louisville!

I'm with you. I'll be paying attention to the progression. If we get a lot better in the 2nd game that's a great sign. If we're trying to figure out why we can't throw the ball effectively against a ****** UL defense, then we're probably not going to have a very good season. You don't have months to work **** out; you have to make quick progress and build to that crescendo like Neil Diamond.
Ah Chise, you went and did it. 1973 and I'm 19 yrs old down at the Jersey Shore in Belmar at Mr. D's. Headliner was Neil Diamond. We were like lol wtf Neil Diamond?? But it was the best club at the time so we went in. Two hours later everybody's sweating on the dance floor singing along with Neil at the top of our lungs as the crescendo builds: "Sweet Caroline!!!! da da da Good times never felt so good, So Good, SO GOOD, SO GOOD!!!" The Vegas lounge act rocked the Jersey Shore that night lol. Never saw it coming.

Great reference. Thx for the memory.

I'm just excited to see these Freshman RBs even more. The Oline looked pretty solid in the run game too. I'm mostly just worried about the OLine and WRs from the passing side. Idk why yall are flipping out worried about King. He's the best player on our offense. We work in our TE's even more and I think we are going to be pretty legit on offense. Everyone panicking about King needs to calm the **** down. Dudes going to take this offense to the ******* moon.

Defense played well. Nothing spectacular. Just solid Defense.

For his career, King has 4,800 passing yards (62%), 50 TDs and 9 INTs.

But he missed a throw to Jeremiah Payton in the first game back from a pandemic. I’m worried whether we will be able to complete a forward pass.
Let’s scrap the playbook and play in the wishbone

Ok - so the miss in the end zone and the two overthrows on the sideline to Harley somehow show that there is a “very real possibility” that our lack of a passing game is some sort of death knell for the season. But are we just supposed to ignore the (1) escape the sack, roll left, hit Wiggins on the sideline, (2) 5 step drop, throw a frozen rope that splits the 1-2 on Payton’s jersey on a 9 yard curl and (3) perfect touch on a back shoulder throw between the safeties and over the lb covering Brevin?
