If not Butch, how about Chuck Pagano?

MFers in hear disrespecting one of not only the Great position coaches in UM History....but without question, one of the best Humans possible....Great Husband...Great Father....Great Man.......Amazing & Sickening at the same time...

That's what's always been funny with you and I. I respect and like Chuck, but I also wholeheartedly disagree that Butch would've been the answer. Such is life and opinions. I do respect what Butch did when he did it, my hangup has always been it was a different time. Kind of like horse and buggy, then the car comes along. Times have changed drastically. That and I really didn't like his bagman at UNC. Still, respect.

One of the greatest position coaches in UM history?

IDK if that’s accurate or not, but being a great position coach hardly makes you a great head coach.

The evidence in Indianapolis shows that Pagano is a terrible head coach. He could never win the terrible AFC South, even in years where Andrew Luck wasn’t hurt.

Coaches don’t make franchises great in the NFL. That’s what GM’s do.

Belichick and Saban coached on the Browns and weren’t doing anything special

You’re all over the place in this thread. @caneinorlando insult game hasn’t aged well and he may need anger management but he has been around the program and players for awhile. He also knows what his cousin dealt with in Indy which I’m sure you can give zero insight on. Feel like your stirring **** up at this point...

What would you have said about Belichick after the Browns? Or Pete Carroll after Patriots? **** Vermeil after Philly?

My God, I’ve hardly memorized who the Miami DB coaches over the years have been.

TBH, I didn’t even know that Pagano was a Miami DB coach until I opened this thread. I knew he was a defensive position coach under Butch Davis, but I didn’t remember what position he coached.

My God, Pagano’s main qualification seems to be that he was a good DB coach here 19 years ago. This is ridiculous.

It must be empowering to be within six degrees of separation from him. How unfortunate for you that his side of the gene pool was stronger... But at least you got a modicum of CIS cred?

Then we’ll wind up with some UM relic for sure. Or Coker again. He’s what the players hired last time they did the hiring.

How about just hiring a proven AD with real sports chops who has hired successful coaches and has an actual list in his desk at all times.
I’m convinced that even if the school decided to throw real money into the program we’d just be Michigan. neither school can get away from the idea of wanting someone with prior ties to their programs no matter how many times it keeps failing.
