If Miami closed down the program who would you root for?

Anyone who names a non fictional team should be automatically banned.

Anything less would be un-CANE like.

College football would fade away just like the NFL has to me, mostly. I have to admit, I do like the way Stanford plays ball and their standards as a university. They have the best mascot this side of the Ibis, and the band is irreverent, which I like. I could find myself watching their games.

Don't be surprised to see UM close the football program within 5 years. It's all part of the plan. Keep the product performing at an extremely low level for long periods of time and fans will eventually move on.

When UM closes up shop- I won't watch college ball anymore.

That first sentence is so laughably ridiculous. The melodrama around here is amusing.

I'd go with FSU eventually as time would make me get over the U. UCF doesn't win crap, USF sucks, UF is the worse.

The fact that this is even a legitimate discussion speaks volumes about the goal of those in charge. Viva la fighting stethoscopes. Like that great corch said when is the last time 50k showed up to watch a science experiment?

How is it a legitimate discussion. The chance of the Miami football program shutting down is so close to zero as to be non-existent.

If Miami were to shut down their program, I would not root for another team and my interest in college football would dip significantly. I am a fan of college football because of the Hurricanes.

How is it not? What has the administration done over the last ten year's which objectively shows they intend to dump the necessary resources into the program to keep it relevant. It is being kept on life support and being run on a budget like those loveable Cleveland Indians in major league.

i thought they had shut down the program 6 years ago, i had already started rooting for FIU

And I'd never stop watching college football. Ever. Its ridiculous everyone saying that they would.

Your telling me you can't watch a game without the Hurricanes or your favorite NFL team in it? Really?

I was at first Dolphin game ever. Went to Super Bowl II & III in OB. The Fins' decline into disgust and NFL's love affair with becoming entertainment as opposed to football, killed my interest in pros. That left THE U which was the greats form of entertaining football ever. Before Howard and Miami saved college football it was boring option football dominated by a couple schools in big conferences. Now it has returned to same thing. THE U made college football exciting; without THE U, it is returning to what it was. I've spent 100s of thousands on football over 40 plus years. Now I can walk away without looking back without THE U, no problem. More fun to take the money to a casino.

Even if, as you claim, it is not being given the resources it needs, that is nowhere near the same as claiming that it will be shut down. It's laughable to even pretend that there is any intent or move to do so, or that it's even a remote possibility.
