Hurricanes coach Mark Richt on quarterback situation: ‘Malik is the starter’

Man, Hard Rock really started coming alive that game.
Laughable side note @11:51: GT's kicker makes the FG on his first college kick.
Last year was the year where kickers never missed anything against us too right?

His comments, IMO, serve as a way to give Malik confidence and provide the others more motivation (not saying they are not already). We will likely see all 4 QBs this season at some point (hello Savannah state). It should be on be on them to take the job from Malik when they get the chance. Cream gone rise (or some shiit like that lol). I think Malik is what he is, regardless of last year being his 1st full season. Not saying he’s great by no means, but he has proven to be serviceable. No one else has had a chance to show what they got. But they will and the best guy will play. That’s just my opinion.

There is hardly a football coach anywhere in division one that would go into the LSU game with anyone other than Malik as the starter. All your other options have never taken a live snap at this level and you want them to do it in front of a hundred thousand people in Dallas? That's how careers are ruined.

Can't wait for him to underthrow all our receivers again

What a failure at recruiting a QB by Richt

Pretty vague. Which QB recruit do you have issues with? All of them? Both cycles? Why?

Is it because a True Freshman or a few Red Shirt Freshmen who did not enroll early, just got on campus around this time last season, have not been able to pass up the Miami single season record holder for yards and TD's who led us to huge victories over FSU, ****** Tech, and ND?

Be specific when you respond, please.

I’m still nervous about our special teams .. or lack of consistently punting, kr/pr and rushing opposing fg kickers is very overlooked I think ... love Hartley don’t get me wrong but maybe someone else should just be dedicated to special teams

I've had my share of heart and headaches caused by the stress of watching Malik. However, there is no question in my mind that he is the most game ready QB that we have on our roster and therefore, he gives us the best chance to win. I was definitely in the camp of wanting someone to dethrone him, but at the end of the day he is the best choice and more importantly, he is our QB.

The new redshirt rule gives Miami the best of both worlds. We get to start our only QB on the roster who has game experience, without the risk of shattering the confidence of our young QB's by putting them in pressure situations before they are ready. They now get a chance to get real game experience and more importantly, make mistakes without it causing us a game because it will be during mop up duty. We will be better off in 2019 because of this fact.

If the freshmen were ready to be "the guy" this year, they would be "the guy."
