Here's what I know

Thank you, sir. I realize that I am a sarcastic smart-a$$, but I know my stuff and I try to bring the facts and info.

I do think that the Vandy endowment is open to ALL STUDENTS. I made this point back when UM announced that it would give need-based aid at a 100% level for any admitted students who qualified. I said that it MIGHT help baseball the most, as those student-athletes tend to have better GPAs coming out of high school (don't blame the messenger).

Not sure if it has had much impact at UM yet. Hard to tell a baseball recruit "trust me, wait until you see your financial aid package in 6 months".

I would also like to see what the impact of "academic awards" is. Ole Miss (?!) is leading the way right now.

Would love to see Miami add back a couple of sports. I think lacrosse would work at Miami although the sport carries rosters that are ridiculously too large at the college level. Miami has a large Atlantic states and Northeastern draw and that is where they sport thrives. It is a prep school sport and many of those kids come from wealthy families and are above average students. Girl's lacrosse players have very high GPAs, too. You can pull in local kids. STA has a very good program and it would feed quite a few kids.

Men's golf and swimming first (thanks, Dave Maggard).

Why do we not have women's softball?

There is absolutely no reason we should not have a men's golf program. We should have an overall athletics program that rivals Stanford (only smaller). The amount of talent in South Florida and the appeal of the area to those student athletes has not be leveraged. I've always thought we could be a **** of a basketball school as well

Ha! Didn't even think about that. I just thought "if I call it the Singer Scholarship, maybe someone will think it is for vocal excellence."

Sorry, I was in President's 100 and led a bunch of tours of UM. I'm used to saying his full name, UM was pretty proud of that.

haha im just messing w you. idc honestly it just stood out lol

I don't know how it is in every country, but it was my understanding that most European countries have a more "living-wage/not-as-dependent-on-tips" pay structure for restaurant workers.

In the US, it is particularly bad, since most table-service restaurants (a) pay below minimum wage to wait staff (and expect the differential to be made up for in tips), (b) frequently do not offer healthcare, and/or (c) often cut hours in a way that makes it difficult to hit 40 hours and/or qualify for healthcare coverage even if it is offered. Some things are FINALLY changing post-Covid, but not everywhere, not fast enough, and not "permanently".
All correct

how about men's soccer?

What were the sports that were dropped? I seem to remember men's rowing because it was a big deal that they beat Yale one year.

At least the two that I mentioned are absolute certainties (my roommate was a men's diver, so his sport was saved), and men's crew (rowing) may have been a third. Hard to remember if crew was a scholarship sport or a club sport, they used to practice up at Key Biscayne, so I never saw any of their events.
