Here's what I know

Personally, I don't believe Mario is this narrow minded. I'm not judging him based on this season because Brown can't throw a football, and they have good Rbs and a solid o line so yeah, they're going to run.

I think the Herbert fiasco gets blown out of proportion so much.
You can judge on the previous three seasons too. This is who he is. The article about Herbert being handcuffed has made the rounds. He has a philosophy and expecting it to change just because he's at Miami is asking alot. Why would he change? He's gotten to where he is playing offense that way.

If Miami hires Kiffin or Mario I feel confident in saying it accomplishes what the school, and we as fans, have been hoping for for a long time

Can we please stop this debate on Mario vs Kiffin??

We don’t need to crap on one candidate to validate the qualities of the other

As long as we get one of the two I’m ready for the bourbon to flow

Top level NCAA experience/National Championship experience

NFL Experience/Multiple Pros developed under his watch

Multiple individual award winners (will come in handy when recruiting top level skill players)

Spearheaded Alabama's offensive evolution

Schematic adjustments/evolved his own style and playcall in particular to his personnel, something Miami has rarely ever had

Rebuilt FAU in short order and is in line to establish a record level of regular season wins at an SEC stop. Had Tennessee on a positive trajectory before he left.

As mentioned before, what does it matter if you're a "far better recruiter" if you can't get the most out of it on GameDay?

Miami can go the Ed Orgeron route and hope they catch fire, but we've seen Miami scoff at a Mike Leach in favor of the CEO model. I'd just like them to try something different
I don’t have strong feelings towards either. I think both could be very successful here

But this is a good post

There was a certain coach in this town that used to say repeatedly “I am not going to be the Alabama Head Coach.”

We all know how that ended. Why, because the powers that be wanted it that way and they did what they had to do.

What’s happening here is par for the course, except this one happens to be Alumni in Mario. But the same steps are being taken as in any other school when they want their guy.
Not the same at all. Where's the cronyism in that situation???

Its nice. That’s his career achievement ? Here’s the keys to Miami.
When you look at what Cristobal's doing at Oregon, he's doing nothing that their previous 3 head coaches haven't done. Win 10 games, win the division, go to the Rose Bowl. That's despite Mario supposedly being the best recruiter in the country while the rest of the conference is vomiting on themselves. At least Kelly and Helfrich got to national championship games.

What Kiffin's doing at Ole Miss is literally unprecedented for that school. Mario has maintained the status quo at Oregon. Nothing more.

You do realize Mario's greatest career achievement is 12-2, in a very weak conference, with a NFL top 5 pick at QB.

And that is with choking away a playoff birth vs an unranked ASU team.

I don't know. I'd say inheriting the worst team in CFB, a 0-12 FIU commuter school program with no support and no resources and winning their conference is quite an achievement too.

Winning the national championship as Alabama's assistant head coach, offensive line coach, and recruiting coordinator, while landing the #1 class in the country four times in a row seems pretty solid to me too.

But I can't get over you trying to sweep 12 wins under the rug. Some of you guys will talk yourselves out of any happiness or success even if it kills you.

UM went from cheap, to now we throw $30mil down to hire best buds.... lol...

You all really think these new investors are throwing down that much money, just because it's their friend???

The back and forth here is ridiculous... There are negatives to literally every HC option (sans Saban and dabo - which are NEVER happening)... Even the gawd Meyer could have a 99page thread about his "fake health concerns and recruiting murderers etc...."

We are supposedly in talks with two top10 level coaches.. just be thrilled with that level of commitment alone...

I love every last piece of this post. Especially the bourbon.

I’m making a point , not literally having a debate. I’m the guy who said I’m ok with Lane as a plan B even though i know what a sleaze ball he is off field and the possibility he could cause embarrassment to Miami. That’s leaving out the less than impressive resume as a HC.

The point i‘m making is you can’t bash Mario with his flaws and then act like Lane is some great hire or answer. Thats ridiculous.

Helfrich inherited a championship contender and was 4-8 three years later. Willie was 7-6 in his only year. Mario went 9-4 right away, went 12-2, had a bad Covid year (4-3) but won the conference, and now he's 9-2.

What’s your take on Joe Moorhead? I thought that was a good hire so I think this is more of a product of Anthony being a bust as opposed to Mario failing with that hire.

Either way, if Mario is the guy I imagine he starts fresh with a new OC here instead of bringing Moorhead with him.
Here’s the issue in that line of thinking...

Oregon is in year 4 of Mario’s recruiting, needing a limited QB like Anthony Brown in year 4 is a head scratcher for an Elite recruiter, so if Brown is a bust it makes you wonder why you would bet the house on a QB who isn’t very good to begin with when you have playoff aspirations...

Especially in a weak conference like the PAC-12.

They looked past it when Richt brought his son along because "we're getting a successful P5 coach". Then when it came time for little Richt and others to go, CMR chose to retire rather than fire his boy. It will be a whole different type of shytshow if they need to get off of Mario.
Love how we're already looking ahead to when we have to fire the next coach who's the current #1 target. Never change CIS.

We have the talent to win the coastal and possibly the ACC championship next year. We already have pieces on the defense with some holes that potentially could be filled via the portal. The problem is going to be our schedule since we go to a&m and Clemson.
I agree. It’s just pathetic that winning the coastal has become this big goal.

I’m not anti Mario but the one thing that does make me a little wary is if we bring him in….that’s it

The ties and connections and the money…he better be THE GUY. And as much as I respect what he’s done and he’s improved, that’s a big if for me still

Wouldn’t hate the hire (would actually be very happy about it relatively speaking) but 3 or 4 years from now I might

If Lane doesn’t deliver I don’t see it as a big an issue

Or maybe I’m just reading into it too much

Cribby, from what you know today is there a dark horse / contingency candidate behind Mario and Kiffin? I know Arranda was mentioned but was curious if there was another name in play

It appears that it’s Mario’s to decline at this point
