Here's what I know

If we put the U connection aside and look at these 2 - Mario and Lane - in the proper context, Mario is the obvious choice.

Mario is:
Clean as a whistle - no questions about character
Proven P5 HC
A few question marks about decision making but nothing that can’t be rectified

Lane is:
A lot of flash and not a lot of substance
Questionable character
History of moving frequently

I’d prefer a HC of high character that will more than likely stay a while. Add in the fact that Mario has the U and SFL connections and I believe it’s a no brainer. Whether or not it comes to fruition is yet to be seen.
Yeah but Lane is totally hot ( Paris Hilton voice)

I really don't agree that Kiffin is all flash, no substance.

He's a **** of a HC. Maybe he's not the right fit here and maybe he's not a long-term solution, but the dude can flat out coach.

You're not. I'm saying that Hernandez is being considered over a far more qualified Jurich because he's another connection to Cristobal. If you're comparing resume there's no reason to consider Hernandez over Jurich other than his connection to Miami and Mario.
We don't know that for certain, right? He might be receiving serious consideration because he has less baggage then Jurich and is a safer hire for the "old heads" who don't care about football.

So they're gonna let rich guys pick the coach? This school doesnt learn
Unless Miami is printing its own money, exactly how do you think it works? Hey Mr. Billionaire, gives us $10 million and thanks for playing. Give us more in 4 years for the next disaster. You think they are pushing for Cristobal, because they remember a great time they all had a Snuffy's back in the day? They think he has the gravitas to lead the football team. They may be wrong. Again, this is the first time real big money is willing to invest in the long term to the athletic department. Half the posters on here are fans. They never went to Miami. They don't have season tickets. They never go to games. It is comical.

Got ya! Agree on the AD.

The consideration for Hernandez seems to be with those scarred bit*ches that are afraid of Jurich’s past per others here that are connected.

FWIW, Butch had a similar problem outside of Dorsey.

His QBs were Kenny Kelly, Ethenic Sands, Derrick Crudup and TJ Prunty.

Those of us who were on the boards for Butch remember that the same (valid) criticisms of Mario were there with Butch.
Which is what I’ve been vocal about. Difference is that the Columbus boys backing him might make him Teflon Don as I’ve stated before.

I’ll say it again. Let’s say he recruits lights out but can’t get over losing games he shouldn’t. You’d probably need to move on from him so the program can take the next step. Jurich/zo would need the power to make that decision and I don’t think they would have that power.

Because Lane play calling + recruiting is probably better than Mario recruiting. Mario is probably the better recruiter but Lane can call a much better offense. Mario would need to essentially find a OC that is of the same caliber as Lane or Sark.
Agreed. But, Mario brings more to the table then just recruiting. He might (don't know for certain) bring certain intangibles that are needed to change the culture of our program. Lane likely brings immature comments and a certain amount of audacity that some may not like (personally, I would enjoy it).

For the record, I do not have a favorite.

I would then factor in the risk management of a character guy like Mario vs having to worry about an off field issue with Lane. Then I would factor in the chances each stays and provides long term stability if they achieve success here. I’d be happy with both but that is why I lean Mario.
