Held it

Idk but I watch hours & hours of college football weekly & for years I’ve always thought we’ve looked so much different then everyone else. Even **** teams. It’s like something is missing & I can’t put my finger on it.

Honestly this.

I feel the same way. I’m so used to mistake filled seasons and bonehead decisions by coaches and players over the years. Some games I’m just sitting there hoping they do the basic **** lol.

My question is this. Why do I see so many TRUE freshmen QBs come in and make plays, but we can't get a QB at any age to play at a high level?

Our OL play was ****-poor and this can't be understated. This was a well-schemed pressure by UF that exposed the inexperience of our QB & OL. If Nelson doesn't overcommit to help Donaldson, he could've picked up the crashing blitzer and left Dallas free for that secondary blitzer.

I see poor recognition and technique issues that make me wonder about coaching, but this film may be the best learning tool for these young men... Jarren's pocket awareness and posture were also poor, which didn't allow him to make a throw he could have despite the issues with line play.

Name the true freshers you're referring to and then take a look at their OL play. Better pocket posture or that extra second would have made a huge difference, and my only question is why the coaches didn't make schematic or personnel changes necessary to get the win.

@Roman Marciante could make one of these videos for every QB in college and in the NFL, did he miss passes yes, every QB misses passes on film.
Agreed. Difference is, other QBs seem to at least make some of those passes at a much higher rate than ours. Heck, the best QBs ever had moments where they didn't see guys running wide open. Our QBs just seem to see them at a much lower rate.

Great breakdown of things I didnt see in the game. Obviously the O-Line, Enos and JW have things to work on. Tough loss but we can't forget this is a new scheme, players and all new offensive coaches. No where to go but up. Keep them coming Roman.

Entirely? You’re a ******* moron.
Of course the loss is not "entirely" on Jarren. He definitely contributed to it, same as Jeff Thomas fumble, ST play and the short field we gave them, too many penalties...etc. In the last 4 minutes of the game, he had a chance to win the game for us though and did not do it and that's what Enos was mainly talking about. Could he have stood his ground, kept his eyes downfield, delivered strikes and took hits? Probably. He could have been little more tough maybe? Surveyed the field better? Got rid of the football instead of taking sacs? Enos's job is to evaluate all that and be honest with Jarren and with the fans about what he did wrong.

LOL you do realize it was his first game right? Do I really have to go back and pull up numbers/film of great college QB's in thier first game
1st game under a new offensive coordinator, in a hostile environment against a pretty good defense, board is so antsy to have a QB they are nitpicking every little thing... He will improve. Tua ANd Lawrence got us out here moving the goal posts for freshman qb's

I have been on team Jarren since last year when Kosi was getting the reps. I said he had the best set of skills to work with and needed reps at the end of the year to prepare him for this year. He received none and now it's biting us in the @ss.

Jarren made some real nice throws and did some good things in a tough game with a horrid Oline.....but he was also responsible for quite a bit of the bad. He held the ball way too long. When that back foot hits on your last drop step, you need to be ready to let the ball go. He wasn't doing that. He consistently checked down or held the ball and had to scramble. He didn't show the quick decision making or calculated risks (throwing guys open instead of waiting for them to clear, throwing 50/50 balls on 3rd and long to your playmakers) you need to win big games. He wasn't decisive in his runs either. He had lanes but waited too long.

I'm sure i'll get blasted for this but i said to my friend in the 2nd half that i would like to see what Tate could do against that pressure. Jarren was rattled and we weren't moving the ball late outside of the wildcat and a few runs. Why not play more games with Dallas/Tate back there, JT in motion, Brevin at HB running wheel routes on a reverse, etc and get the defense guessing. I'm really curious to see if Tate could have exploited a running lane in a passing situation. I know it's a HUGE risk to mess with a freshman psyche like that but it's UF and you have to at least consider it to win the game....especially a QB battle that was so close and with guys who are so different. We did everything to give that game away instead of winning it.

I do think Jarren is the guy and has a bright future, i really do. The next few weeks will prove or disprove that. In this game though, i feel we should have tried other things to win.
I wouldn't be surprised if Williams is just a stop gap until Enos gets QBs he recruited on the roster.

If I have a choice between him holding the ball too long and taking a sack or throwing a pick, I'll choose the sack every time.

This is game 1. They'll get better.

He will play better this week. This kid has got the goods, the line will play better too. I think they come out with fire for this game. Close early but I just feel a big win. We know this team is way better than they played last game. I think we can run the table.. I'm putting myself out there this year I might take a beating later on but I really think Jarren has the goods something we haven't had in a long time. JMO

I am hopeful as well, but the trend has gone on for so long, I am definitely at a seeing is believing stage. I don't doubt his talent, or the talent of the guys on the roster. I do doubt their ability to put it all together, because I have not seen enough of this staff to know they can get it all together. Show me, don't tell me. I've heard a lot of talk about The New Miami, now I want to see it.

You are a tr
Jarren will learn. But Enos wasn't crazy when he said there were times Jarren held the ball too long. I expect these instances to get cleaned up.

And I am in the process of upping the ball game a bit. I was told I can be a little too technical in print. (So I will explain) And I understand that not everyone has twitter so I made a Youtube account and I will post links through this format. From the Perch will continue in this format as well. Hope you guys enjoy the content.

you are a true professional. @DMoney needs to up his game and get you Beluga GOLD for your efforts.
