Held it

My question is this. Why do I see so many TRUE freshmen QBs come in and make plays, but we can't get a QB at any age to play at a high level?

Idk but I watch hours & hours of college football weekly & for years I’ve always thought we’ve looked so much different then everyone else. Even **** teams. It’s like something is missing & I can’t put my finger on it.

When Florida loses 4 games this year, maybe people will stop acting like we lost to a title contender.

After watching the SEC mostly crumble they might not lose 4 anymore.

I could see Georgia and LSU. Maybe auburn and then?

That was pathetic safety play on that Nix TD. He easily could have jumped that route and picked it off. Instead he just stood in the end zone and waited.
I couldn’t believe it myself. It felt like the ball trAveled in slow mo and the DB watched it the whole way, and just didn’t step in front.

Because they have functioning OLs.

Miami does not.
Puzzled that our Oline has been so bad for so long. Do we need to commission a special committee of offensive line experts to consult Diaz on recruiting and developing this position group??? Lol!
Literally his tenure at Miami depends on whether he can find a Oline!

Be careful asking these types of questions on this board. Chances are very high that you will begin to get responses accusing you of being a gator fan. Realism and common sense are not character traits typically appreciated around here. God speed bud

When they do it won't be because of the defense. It will be because Franks is terrible.
Oh he is terrible, but their D was made to look better than it is. Yeah, they have good DEs, but we had guys open, and Williams didn't see them. You can't win games if your QB isn't seeing guys running wide open.

Don't get me wrong, I still believe Enos could have done a better job protecting Williams, but if guys are wide open and your QB can't see them, maybe they deserve a good smack.

Nix is going to be lit up in SEC play. Most impressive qb yesterday was the kid from Boise st. We

Thank you for noticing exactly what I said yesterday. That Boise QB is going to be special. I posted that yesterday and suddenly my inbox is flooded with comments from a poster I shall not name accusing me of being a troll gator. What is wrong with giving props where it's due to a QB from a team not named a cane? That kid is special and will be a better overall draft pick than any we have on the roster
So what?

Ive been asking for years...why can't Miami establish an OL "reputation of excellence"?

OLU?

Williams made plays.

How many of these true freshmen are coming in to brand new systems too? Howells, maybe?
During the Oregon/Auburn game they mention Bo Nix ran the same type of offensive system in high school so it made his transition easier.

Very good question. My answer would be, just give it a little time. This is all brand new to everyone. The true freshmen you see are at least working with a staff that has been in place for a couple years and has continuity. This is the first time Enos has worked with Field, with Hickson, and with Stubblefield. EVERYONE is learning, not just Jarren, every offensive player. Give it time before we go berserk.

But I agree 10000% with you, the freshman QB for Boise looked MILES better than Jarren did last night. Bo Nix looked good, not great. I was shaking my head a lot too, just as you were I'm sure. But those kids, while freshmen, are working in systems that are known by the whole staff and most of the players around them. Jarren is leading an entire team of kids still learning with a staff still learning. If these kinds of mistakes are still being seen by midseason, then Jarren is not the answer or perhaps Enos is not either. But give it more than 1 game.

That and Auburn have been running that system since Malzahn has been there, so everyone knows what they're meant to be doing.

We're still installing a quite complicated offence, but we'll be better off for it in the long run (rather than learning 4 plays by watching videos!).

People are stupid. Don’t pay attention to the kids of the board. Now I wouldn’t go as far as saying he’s better than any qb we have on the roster. Have to see more.

It happens a lot. It happened on the first TD by Herbert too. Sometimes good things happen when you give your kids the chance to make a play. Nothing good happens when you run around and get knocked on your *** by a defensive end for a 12 yard loss. Yes, Henderson and Marco are good players. They're not Deion in his prime. We took ZERO shots down the field and threw virtually no 50/50 balls. I'm not saying throw the ball up for grabs, but like you said, that play at the end of the Auburn game was a 1 on 1 play and the WR won. Or maybe the Safety lost. Either way, Auburn wins the game. Things like that CAN happen if you just throw the ball to single covered receivers. We did none of that last week, either schematically and/or because our QB didn't/couldn't take any risk whatsoever.

I, for one, love the detail you put into it. The **** with the ADD(ADHD) generation, ha. Keep up the great work.

Our effin oline is terrible and has been for many years. Unless some voodoo **** occurs soon or a miracle happens. We are in store for a rough season. I don't care anymore about the butt hurt Homers on here bashing anything you say that isn't in line with their Homer views. Just accept the truth of where we are and pray that our Enos the wizard can scheme around the weakness and give our average qb time to find an open receiver. I'm sick of hoping and crossing my fingers. Show me something!

I have been on team Jarren since last year when Kosi was getting the reps. I said he had the best set of skills to work with and needed reps at the end of the year to prepare him for this year. He received none and now it's biting us in the @ss.

Jarren made some real nice throws and did some good things in a tough game with a horrid Oline.....but he was also responsible for quite a bit of the bad. He held the ball way too long. When that back foot hits on your last drop step, you need to be ready to let the ball go. He wasn't doing that. He consistently checked down or held the ball and had to scramble. He didn't show the quick decision making or calculated risks (throwing guys open instead of waiting for them to clear, throwing 50/50 balls on 3rd and long to your playmakers) you need to win big games. He wasn't decisive in his runs either. He had lanes but waited too long.

I'm sure i'll get blasted for this but i said to my friend in the 2nd half that i would like to see what Tate could do against that pressure. Jarren was rattled and we weren't moving the ball late outside of the wildcat and a few runs. Why not play more games with Dallas/Tate back there, JT in motion, Brevin at HB running wheel routes on a reverse, etc and get the defense guessing. I'm really curious to see if Tate could have exploited a running lane in a passing situation. I know it's a HUGE risk to mess with a freshman psyche like that but it's UF and you have to at least consider it to win the game....especially a QB battle that was so close and with guys who are so different. We did everything to give that game away instead of winning it.

I do think Jarren is the guy and has a bright future, i really do. The next few weeks will prove or disprove that. In this game though, i feel we should have tried other things to win.
