Just so **** predictable
Predictable but led to one of the best running offenses in the country last year. So, who ******* cares?

If the other team knows it's coming and can't stop it who cares?

Bama under Saban was going to run right at you behind their stud OL. Everyone knew who was getting the ball and where it was going - very predictable. No one could consistently over the course of 4 quarters stop what they knew was coming.

You saw the graphic last night. 76% of our run plays last year were between the tackles 2nd in the nation (only to Army? I think?).

No reason to believe this year will be any different.
I recall 1 maybe 2 off-tackle runs last night, out of 35 RB carries. This year may be different; Coach may have his sights set on 90+%.

In all seriousness though, I'm perhaps the biggest fan on this board of our "hit them with a rock and don't run outside the tackles" run game, but we really do need to run outside the tackles more. Especially for Lyle's sake. He danced too much on the interior runs last year, and did the same last night before he got hurt (small sample sizes tbf).

I do want more creativity in the run game.
We have shown other run plays besides duo like counter, power, etc. we have pulled guards and Cici, but do you want 6'6 320 pound monsters moving laterally or moving forward?

Do you want to run soft zone reads or use your big monsters upfront bullying the guys across from you?

Now, I do agree incorporating some jet sweeps with Marion and Toney will be nice wrinkles but that'll come. I think when going against a top defense you look to minimize negative plays and keep ahead of the sticks as much as lossible

I mean.... if you have the best OL in America. And it's getting you yrds...... iiiidddkkk
We got stopped multiple times when we needed two or three yards
Let’s not act as if we ran for 250
We need some plays on the edge
Use
Some speed
Get Toney jet sweep or two
Add a Toss or quick pitch and get the corner
Every play can’t be slammed thru the middle imo

I like being able to punch teams in the mouth, play bully ball and tell them "we're getting these 2-3 yards whether you like it or not" and lean on them to wear them out.

However, lining up and running a play action or jump pass or some sort or creativity/ingenuity is needed when lining up in jumbo formation for the 12th time in a row.

That’s all I’m asking
Keep the D honest

Move the chains and keep our defense fresh.

We didn't have complimentary football last year and it hurt us at times primarily due to how poor our defensive scheme and integrity turned out over the course of the year.

Play balanced on offense and stay ahead of the sticks and we will win more games like last night especially in these high stake games against talented teams

The explosives will be there this year once Beck and co. develop more chemistry

This just wasn't the game to be doing all of that. They got the lead and played it safe. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the method. I'm saying I UNDERSTAND why they called it that way.

Hey, believe we won the game. Out rushed ND & supposedly best RB in the country, so whatever we did worked.

Do we have anymore running plays other than this

That was one of the Dawson-Mario staples before Cam showed up..
..in all the Cam euphoria, we just forgot how Dawson was being cursed out by this board for running up the middle into a stacked line, over and over again, just 2 seasons ago... let's get fizical..

The key to this running game is that we avoid negative plays and convert short-yardage. We never put Beck in 2nd and 12 and Cam was the same way last year. It’s a QB-friendly run game.

And we still can move the ball (top 5 YPC last year and outrushed Notre Dame last night).

This… folks gotta understand that it’s the ability to effectively play this kind of football that’ll get you a deep run in the playoffs.

It’s a set up… is it ****? **** no. But if I lean my big boys on you (pause) for 3 1/2 quarters the goal is come 4th quarter you’re gassed, you don’t want to tackle and now you get punished. ND doesn’t have lightweights on their DL and what we were able to do with them last night was sensational. The stats weren’t glaring but overall our trenches did a great job. I expect us to maul the sh*t out of the likes of SMU and Syracuse

The play works in there normal offense.. it’s when it’s 2nd or 3rd and short and they bring the WR’s into a shotgun goaline formation the play obviously just gets into a pile up and goes no where..

run the **** regular offense and stretch them out and run the play..

idk how many times last night they brought everyone in and the ran the same play just for it to go nowhere cause there’s 22 people within 5 yards of the ball to start the play
