One, the Miami offensive line did bully the bullies last night, for a good portion of the game. Notre Dame has a very good defense and is defending national champion runner-up for a reason.

Two, the failure to sustain drives on four consecutive possessions in the third and fourth quarter may have been Miami’s failure to execute. A missed block, or the running back making the wrong cut.

Three, the failure to sustain drives on four consecutive possessions in the third and fourth quarter may have been from Notre Dame executing their defense. Recognizing what Miami was trying to do, shedding blocks, and making the tackle.

Four, the failure to sustain drives on four consecutive possessions in the third and fourth quarter may not have been an issue if Miami use a little more creativity on offense. Even if only in the running game.

Hal Mumme the father of the air raid talks about the air raid running game here in this video. Just skip to 36:15 of this video

Parsing out who is making decisions in the a true air raid should be easy, the QB.

Have you guys ever considered that the reason why the run calls aren't varied in the way that yall would like is because the personnel might not excel at executing it?

If you build a run game around being physically imposing & 2 of your top 3 RB's are big slow power backs, what gives you guys confidence that putting in all these outside runs will work for + positive yards?

The run game is tailored to the strengths of the personnel; the calls are that way because that's what they do best, run straight forward.
Calling them slow, brutal.

Has an @Memnon quote ever been put on a bulletin board in the Hecht?

Journeyman OC and a caveman head coach will do that. The bootlickers on here will defend defend until we lose then say I didn’t see it coming after the second lost they pretend they knew it was bad idea all along.

Btw to the mouth breather that said bama did the samething, no they didnt: you can use YouTube
You're not a journeyman OC anymore once you've put together a #1 offense and a 1.1 QB.

The run scheme is legitimately terrible. Half the people on here can bury their head in the sand, but it is an absolutely awful run scheme.
We’re not burying our head in the sand. It’s literally been proven to work. Last season our running game was great. No it’s not the most creative or ****, but it’s efficient and methodical. Which is a tried and true formula.

lol this is such bs. If we do lose a game it won’t be because our running game, I can guarantee you that. Not ONE game we lost last season was because “lack of creativity in our run game.” Its a top 10 rushing offense for goodness sake

If we had any flavor in the run game we win by 21+ and they never stop us.

Hope it’s in our bag for later. (I know it’s not)

A jet sweep to Marion, Toney, or even Lofton would have broken for 50+ multiple times last night because they crashed and sold out right up the gut
Said exactly this in an earlier post…

How about a pop pass or something…

Anything different than this every play

How is it obvious? Do you have any evidence to back that up? I suspect you do not.

We were top 5 nationally in yards per carry last year while also avoiding negative plays and converting everything on the top offense in America. It’s the same scheme and our lead back didn’t even make an NFL team.

Notre Dame was also Top 5 last year, with a first round pick at RB. Most people considered them the best rushing team in America. We just outran them quite easily. People would’ve been doing cartwheels in June if I said that would happen. Now it’s happened, and people are proposing undefined “tweaks” to our run game that they can’t articulate with any meaning.

We have one of the best running games in America. We bully the bullies. Sit back and enjoy the show.
Welp @DMoney I don’t know who the people are but I for one hear you but context matters too…

All them stats you gave are great but time after time we find ourselves in needless dogfights because that vaunted run game gets stuffed multiple times and we loose momentum and the BIG leads we have or can have…

Speaking for me, ramming the ball down anyone’s throat has a limit, last night was yet another example. I’m not challenging our ability to run the ball; I’m challenging our creativity at certain points during the game when everyone knows it’s coming…

Heck I was wondering where the flags were for too many men on the field when we and everyone else knew we were going to run because I saw the punter, fg kicker, long snapper and mascot in the box too…

You saw the graphic last night. 76% of our run plays last year were between the tackles 2nd in the nation (only to Army? I think?).

No reason to believe this year will be any different.
And it works just fine.

If this staff would have played like this after being up by 21 against Syracuse, Miami would have been in the ACC championship and playoffs. The dive play exploded the biggest weakness of Notre Dame, their undersized DTs, it also keep the chains moving, and lead to points.

Can you elaborate on what we do in the run game? I saw atleast 5 different schemes without rewatching the game yet. The "dive" comment is old and false.
