Guys, I'm worried about our run defense

Have any of those people ever played college football before?

So they couldn't beat someone out to play on a 6-6 ACC team, but now they are ready for SEC boys?
Jon Garvin had 60tcks 17TFL's 5.5 sacks 5PD's & 2FF's last year
Trevon Hill has 94tcks 20TFL's & 11.5 sacks in his career as a 3 year starter
Scott Patchan had 29tcks 2.5TFL's & 1 sacks last year

Rousseau was injured his Freshman year & Harvey is a True Freshman this season.

And while I know you're just a dumb Gaytor troll I decided to respond to you anyway just so I could tell you, your boy Teblow is pole smoking chi chi man & the worst QB ever in the history of the NFL.

Now go find a big bottle of Clorox & challenge your mother to a chugging contest, winner gets a fresh new denim tuxedo with a pair of matching jorts for their funeral, that way you can go out in style.

Actually, I’m surprised our D was as good as it was, given all the 3 and outs and short fields handed to the opponent via feebles

That sounds totally reasonable. But, youre on a fan site talking about something more than "a rival." It's "the Gator." I'd guess youre less than 34 years old and didn't develop the deep-seated hatred for that disgusting program and its fans.

Also, that LSU game was relevant. It was a peek into how we'd play against certain teams and styles. That glimpse became a nightmare against lesser teams.
Im 19 and I ******* despise them. By far the fan base I hate most like its not even remotely close

I don't think he realizes they beat us once in the last 30 years. And SEC East?lol Mullen is going to get deep d*cked by Kirby
They have no self-awareness. Mullet took a shot at Kirby for UGA not having won a title in 14,000+ days and now Kirby’s just cucking Mullet left and right on the trail. Does anyone think Smart will show any mercy to Cousin Eddie & the gaytors in Jax this year?

Manny has adapted his defense over the three years he's been here. It's probably the thing I like most about him as a coach. He's willing to adapt and change his style to better suit our talents and our opponents' weaknesses. He takes an analytical approach instead of more traditional, hard headed reliance on a "tried and true" scheme. He will never go down with the ship because he's too prideful to admit what he's doing isn't working. If something isn't working, he looks at it and makes necessary changes. Whereas guys like Richt, Golden and D'Onofrio would blame players for not executing their scheme well enough.
He took a little longer than I'd have expected to get that 3rd LB off the field more often and to move away from gratuitous zone blitzing (see FSU 2017), but at least he acknowledges metrics that matter and does *something* about it. I'm most excited about Blake's views combining with Manny's scheme to see if we can get somewhere around the realm of the same 3rd down % numbers (as 2018) without an interior pass rushing specialist creating hurries/collapses. Or, they get creative with Rousseau being placed inside (standing up or otherwise) in 3rd down packages.

Those were the two biggest issues I had with Manny through his first two seasons here. The blitzing just for the sake of blitzing and his insistence on using three linebackers against spread teams. He's shown an ability to make in game adjustments too. How many times did some bum team come out and roast the defense through the air in the first half only to get shut down in the second half in 2017? Even last year, there were a couple games where the opponent came out and marched down the field and scored on an early possession only to get countered and shut down for the rest of the game. The defense is still aggressive without being overly risky. They've transitioned to a 5 DB look without losing the run stopping ability of a 3rd linebacker. He's new age, innovative and not afraid to make changes.

I still have a sour taste in my mouth from when last saw our boys play in which they got sodomized on National TV to the tune of 333 yards on 5.7 ypc. Now, I know that was a meaningless game, and the team was being led by a man who models himself after the title character Bernie in the film Weekend at Bernie's, so I'm willing to give the team some sort of pass.

But there's still other games from last season that lead me to worry. Such as the BC game where we allowed 215 yards on 5.4ypc and the UNC game where we allowed 223 yards on 4.2 ypc. Overall, our average rush yards allowed against P5 opponents was 175 and we gave up 3.8 ypc.

If I understand correctly, the Gators are more talented than teams such as BC, UNC and Wiscy. With that, I'm a bit worried. Can someone please calm me down and say we're going to be alright?

You shouldnt be worried cause the offense will be different. They were the ones at fault for the D giving up 333 rushing yards with a 3rd string QB. At least that is what alot of porsters say

By the time we beat FSU and got to 5-1, the LSU game was a distant memory. We thought we had righted the ship and had found our QB of the future. Nobody was talking about LSU.

It's only in hindsight that the armchair QBs can say there were "signs". But there are "signs" in every game vs every team. Every team has strengths and weaknesses that show up in every game, regardless of opponent, but the weaknesses show up more vs good teams. Saying there were "signs" is a non-statement. What matters is the relative frequency that your strengths and weaknesses show up throughout the course of the season.

Had N'kosi taken off after FSU, instead of fallen off a cliff (partially/mostly due to how he was handled by the coaching staff), we would've won at least 2-3 more games and the LSU game would've been meaningless.

I'm all for getting hyped for the UF game - this is sports and every game is equally meaningless and fun, after all - but come December we'll care much less about that game and much more about how we did the rest of the way.

Not when it’s the hated Gayturd, not ever.

Yea the Gaytors are talented that's why they are high pre-season ranked. You can't stop good teams from gaining yardage... but what we can do is gain yardage ourselves and respond effectively when we have the ball... it will make our defense play better and keep them off the field more than the Richt years. I'll leave the defensive chess game up to Coach Diaz, Baker, Banda who will take care of the trench warfare.

Imagine that, the offense does well and the defense, seeing such veracity, plays lights out and dominates the mightless Gayturd.
