Gus Felder new S&C coach

On Clemson's S&C Program And Our Problems with Batson - Shakin The Southland

Good read on the different methods of strength and conditioning for people like me who have no idea. The author seems to be in favor of the Hatch system and points out that the majority of teams that have recently won NC's had S&C coaches that employed the Hatch system. (I don't know if this fact has more to do with correlation or causation)

Has anyone confirmed our system will now be HIT or is it just speculated?

That would be disappointing for the type of athletes we attract.

Felder does worlds strongest man type training if you search him on youtube. Thomas has been known to incorporate HIIT to his stuff but he's adapted well over the years. I'm sure it's a little of both concepts

I would also offer this...of anyone in S&C truly had a discernable advantage due thier system, TTPs, etc...

I would think the market of international pro teams..NFL...Euro Soccer...Rugby...etc...would beat a path to their door paved in gold.

Has this been the case with ANY name debated on these S&C threads?

If not true, I would argue the market has spoken in terms of marginal value of this name.or that. The premium to hire would then come.down to other qualitative factors...good.guy...honest...esy to.work.with...not .douche bag...i know/trust him...etc...

What does the type of athlete have to do with the S&C coaches system? There are NFL teams and top 10 college programs that run HIT. Please explain your issue with HIT.

I will go with whoever has the best drugs wins!

I'm going to cry because the only two names I knew weren't hired.

Well that makes you an uninformed imbecile whose opinion on the matter should have no import to actual adults - you only know two SC coaches' names that were potential candidates and you think you are qualified to have any opinion of merit regarding who UM hires as SC coach? The fact is you came up with two names (likely Ivey and Moffit) because every half-wit on this board began puppet-ting them over and over on this board because some guy who has never lifted a day in his life tweeted he heard from someone one name. UM just hired basically the SC staff from the University of Georgia which included the guy that was regarded as one of the top SC coaches for over a decade at Penn State. Georgia and Penn State...you think those programs know a bit about SC...lol. Stop having such a strong opinion on a subject you know nothing about. There is virtually no one on this board that has any opinion on the SC component of a university athletic department that has any credibility whatsoever - most here are overweight, middle aged, beta males, that spend more time on a Canes message board than actually lifting. Most here have never trained a day in their life hard enough to bust a blood vessel in their eye because they couldn't turn a squat over from the bottom or did pyramid sets of 100 reps of legs presses that shocked your body so much that your kidneys started producing urine every 10 minutes for 4 hours. Sit back, take the opinion of a few of the non-Beta, non-whiny, non-figgats, whose girlfriend's are not getting trained on by actual men, and see what they have to say. This rock star SC cult of personality that began to creep in here was absurd. You think there are only two guys in the country that know how to teach skinny malnourished Africans from the hood how to deadlift? GTFO man. You are a moron, so I don't imagin you will understand my point, but in summary, 1) dont form such strong beliefs about things your are uninformed about, 2) do not listen to a bunch of meely-mouth bishes on a Canes forum who have never facking even attempted an Olympic lift regarding their opinion of strength training, 3) understand that there are many very qualified guys beyond the two you learned about in the last 3 days that bring a huge amount of knowledge and understanding to SC training, 4) and this i most important, the quality of SC staff that was just brought in has stool samples that know more than the ignoramus that was fired. You are akin to a voter in a democracy that votes for a candidate because you like his hair as you are too dumb to actually learn about his policy ideas. Stop being an embarrassment and grow a pair you pansy.

lackluster resume, imo.

Georgia just hired 2 guys to head up the S&C unit and they supposedly hired 2 very top notch guys. 2 guys were former heads of S&C at other schools (UCF and Marshall).

And if we hired guys from those programs ppl would be crying about them not being from better programs or not having top talent

Speculation. One of our new assistants, Thomas, is a known HIT guy and our head of S&C, Felder, was a football player at Penn State when Thomas was the head of S&C. The other thing to consider is that the both, Thomas and Felder, have recently been assistants to Hocke who uses the Hatch system.

Thanks?

You just wasted a lot of time man... the dude was being sarcastic making fun of everyone else on the board

ATHENS — Most of the men who ran Georgia’s strength and conditioning program last year are following Mark Richt to Miami.

Gus Felder, John Thomas and Kelin Johnson are set to join Richt’s strength and conditioning staff at Miami, according to multiple people familiar with the situation.

One person said Felder is likely to head up Richt’s S&C program, but that could not be immediately confirmed.

Felder is a former Penn State player who has been on Georgia’s staff since 2014. He ran the S&C programs at two smaller schools, Clark Atlanta and Cheyney, prior to coming to Georgia.

Thomas was Georgia’s associate strength and conditioning coach since 2012, essentially the No. 2 man on the staff, after serving as Joe Paterno’s head S&C coordinator for two decades.

Johnson is a former defensive back for Richt at Georgia. He re-joined the program as a graduate assistant a few years ago, then joined the strength program last year.

Not getting Ivey is a letdown, no matter how you look at it.

Getting ivey would have been great but Georgia team looked like grown men this year. I'm 100% happy with us taking a lot of their strength staff

Richt didn't lose games because of conditioning or getting pushed around

They were also working for some dude named Richt. I think they will employ the program he desires.
