For MONTHS we didn't hear a peep about Trevonte Citizen, outside of "Mario offered him a starting job".

Suddenly, they have a brand new (fake) NIL number to blame it on? A number that is strikingly similar to what we are paying (individually) to 40% of our 2022-23 starting basketball team?

Hilarious.

I finally figured out what the opposite of a Gaytor Bumpz is...it's the sudden tear-down of a once-coveted recruit after he picks another school, where you talk about how bad he was at his old school, stats are crap, was gonna be third-string depth at best, afraid of competition, wasn't worth the money, he eats soup with a fork, his farts smell like death, he wasn't an academic fit, etc. etc. etc.

"Stars don't matter" has most of their fanbase shook.

With all the crap that the Gaytor fans talk about "bump class", you'd have to think that anything outside the Top 10 will be crushing to them and SOME Gaytor fans will call for Gaypier's head. BUT, since they are already making pre-emptive excuses, I'd say that if they fall outside the Top 20, A LOT of Gaytor fans will be screaming for Gaypier to be fired, even if he wins 9 games.

It's so funny that you mention the Pittsburgh Pirates, that's exactly the team that I thought of yesterday when I was thinking about market value and the willingness to spend to it.

Baseball has a LUXURY TAX. The teams that spend a lot have to pay it, and the money goes to the poors. And some of them (the Pirates) don't even bother to spend that money on the roster.

So, yeah, why should I be concerned that a bunch of arrogant Gaytors are snorting at what Darrell Jackson is "worth" in their view. Doesn't matter. We have him now, they don't.

Maybe we can settle this question in 2024.

Exactly. OT but the reason I made the reference too is because I'm a long-suffering Pirates fan. Funny you mention the luxury tax because it recently came out (I think via a local newspaper up there) that the Pirates entire season expenditures are covered by ticket sales and concessions alone. So that luxury tax money, the revenue sharing, the tv money, etc all goes into the pocket of the hillbilly billionaire from West Virginia that owns the team.

But I digress. Back to the sweet sweet tears of the hillbilly poors of UiF!

That's quite a list. Mike and Maurkice probably lost a sizeable portion of their fortunes donating to the Aaron Hernandez defense fund. Percy? Who knows? But he did chokeslam a coach during practice while a student-athlete at the flagship - I know Urb was willing to forgive and forget, but maybe there are some bridges that were sufficiently scorched as a result of that incident.

And - we know what Mike Miller is doing. Trying to teach his pet Macaque how to ride a Great Dane like a horse. I don't know about anyone else, but to me, that sort of show would keep me planted in my seat during halftime of a Heat game. Total windfall if he can work out the kinks. I can only guess here, but work of that nature has to keep a man rather busy - too busy to donate to the gator guard, even.
