Don't see Randy staying at UF in some type of administration role. He'd likely bolt to another school if not retained on the coaching staff - which I don't think Chip would want to retain him.

Our Gator trolls are doing a great job of upsetting the little gator girls...nice job guys.Zbrod trying for that HOF vote like 2082 and RVA have.

This might be one of the most ridiculous tweets I've ever seen.

The guy is a fraud. He would have you believe that it takes a week or more to "vet" assistant coaches. DOZENS of assistant coaches. Because Chip just can't hire who he wants, he needs DOZENS of pre-vetted candidates. And what is there to vet? Assistants come and go, as long as they don't have a show-cause like Kelly had, there is nothing of value to "vet". This idiot would have you believe that UF is running credit checks on all these US Vice Presidential, whoops, assistant coaching candidates.

As for the nonsense about Chip signing some sort of non-binding voidable "agreement" while his agent is on a plane to the west coast, it's just laughable. What terms could POSSIBLY be in a non-binding voidable "agreement" that would not later be in a binding non-voidable contract? Is the UF administration so squirrely that Chip would need a non-binding voidable "agreement" to lock UF into contractual terms?

It's just so ridiculous. The guy just kissed his professional reputation goodbye by posting that nonsense.

And, for the record, I am NOT saying that Kelly won't sign with UF, just that the claims of non-binding voidable "agreements" and massive vetting of DOZENS of assistant coach candidates is not believable.

To this I would point out to you the debacle at Notre Dame that forced George O'Leary to resign for inaccuracies on his resume. Also, there was that USF basketball coach who said he had a degree when he didn't.

While I won't speculate exactly how long asst coach vetting takes or whether some candidates are "pre-vetted," I will say that some kind of background research is needed.

Look, you Gator troll, you are trying to rebut by using a HEAD COACH who lied on his resume.

Oh, by the way, how much "vetting" did you do on Randy Shannon before you hired him as your assistant coach? Did you discover all of his negative comments about UF?

Again, there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO "vetting of dozens of assistant coaching candidates" going on right now at UF. It simply isn't happening. It's a lie.

Gaytor fans will probably be on suicide watch. What Blake and Luke are doing to them is criminal. every day is just made up stuff. I mean ****, the decision could come on Thursday at 305pm or maybe Friday at 11.29am.. They don’t know a **** thing. They are just throwing **** up against a wall and hoping something is true so people wont cancel their subscriptions.

Maybe Randy Shannon is the only assistant coaching candidate who passed the mythical extreme vetting of "dozens" of assistant coaching candidates...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am beyond thankful for the Gator Tears provided to us in abundance throughout the past year.

I'll make this very simple.

I actually don't care if the Gaytors hire Chip Kelly. I think Kelly is overrated. But I do love the Gaytor Tears.

HOWEVER, every single minute that passes in this ongoing saga just delays and shortens the amount of time that ANY Gaytors coaching staff will have available to recruit and sign players before the early December signing day.

I hope the Chip Kelly decision story lasts for another month.

WIN-WIN!!!

Yea it seems like their vetting needs a lot of work..they did a great job of vetting McSharkfcker didn’t they to know he sucked and that he would tuck and run when things got tough.

The Gaytors' new policy on hiring assistant coaches, after they realized they had hired Randy Shannon:

Don't get your panties up in a bunch. My post had nothing to do with the gators. Was just pointing something out historical evidence where universities screwed up by not vetting candidates more closely. And to your point about head coaches vs assistants--don't you think my point is made stronger with the fact that it was a head coach. You'd think a university would properly vet a head coach. Imagine if a head coach is hired and hires his staff only to find out 6 months in that his WR coach (or whomever) does not have a degree. Guess what all those relationships built with players/recruits/admin was for nothing.

I have no doubt we will closely vet candidates for our 10th asst. in the coming months.

Nothing to do with my hurricane fandom, just pure common sense. If you don't understand that then there's nothing I can do for you.

Look, Gator boy, there is a REASON why assistant coaches are not vetted at the same level that HEAD coaches are, and that is because they can easily be hired and fired for cause (assuming they did something that warrants such firing).

Assistant coaches are not under lengthy contracts like head coaches are. Assistant coaches are not the "face of the program" as the head coach is. Assistant coaches are easily replaced, unlike head coaches.

I have news for you, genius. Miami (and every other school in the country) has no need for "extreme vetting" of the 10th assistant coach. Most schools already know who the person will be, and have no need to do any vetting.

Head football coaches (at least in Power Five) basically say "this is who I want", and then a day later the hiring is announced. And if it doesn't work out, it takes about a day to get rid of an assistant coach. Right now, Chip Kelly (assuming he is hired by UF) needs warm bodies out on the recruiting trail, not a bunch of choir boys. And let's not pretend that head coaches don't use assistants for recruiting even when those head coaches know the assistants are about to move on to another job. "Relationships". Yeah, what a crock. You are acting as if UF can't just plug in a new WR coach and move on with no problem. Yes, they can. And they have done so before, and will do so again.

I'm not sure why you don't understand this. I'm not sure why you can't comprehend that "Gaytor extreme vetting" is the tenth different reason that Gaytor fans have invented to rationalize the delay in getting Chip Kelly. Again, nobody, and I mean nobody, vets DOZENS of candidates. Do you not understand that? It's a lie. You fell for the banana in the tailpipe. Now take your L and post less.

When gaytors start losing their recruits they'll be trying to steal recruits from FIU, then after a lack of success it will go after FAMU recruits. Watch out Prairie View.

I hope we can get to see Chip take the UCLA job on saturday while they’re playing the Noles.
