Gary Ferman Interviews Swasey

I'm looking for a ***** reduction surgeon. I broke my wrist for the last time tripping over this creature. Anyone know a surgeon who has been banned from entering hospitals?

Typical ****ty journalism from that assbag.

It also didn't help Swasey's cause that he struggled to pass an NCAA mandated certification course for strength coaches this past season, preventing him from personally working with the team in his weight room.

"I don't think that had anything to do with it, not from what I was told," he said.

Swasey says he's not upset about getting let go. He wants to dwell on all the great memories from the day he took over in 1997.

How long could he not workout the team? News to me that he took over in '97.

He also listed a lot of players from many years ago as those who come and work out. I told you all that those numbers were down, not many NFL'ers around anymore.

I am honestly not a huge fan of the man's tactics, but this was honestly a very solid article. He essentially just broke the news that our strength coach couldn't work out with the team in the weight room. That is a huge news. I think he should've focused more on that part of things, but you have to remember he is not some journalist with a large newspaper's name behind him if he catches flak for an article that is negative against someone. What do you want him to do? Trash the guy in an exclusive interview? If he did that individuals who would agree to future interviews would evaporate.

If anything, we should be asking where were our beat writers with picking up on this information.

As for Swasey, what the heck did he think was going to happen if he couldn't pass the necessary certification AND a new coach comes in? This is just great news in the sense that no matter whether you like Swasey, or do not like Swasey, we have a complete new voice in our program. From the top man to the S & C department, we have a new voice.

The S & C spends more time with these individual players than the head coach does. You cannot understate the value of a great S & C to your program and instilling the culture you want to instill.

LMFAO at him being so under qualified and clueless at his profession that he was banned from the weight room

HOLY SHlT. I always knew he was a dope but failing a certification course is too amazing.

Every ghetto moron and gutter rat that was in here defending him should be banned. Nothing like the "defend every black coach just cuz he's black" squad sticking up for Swasey despite every indicator being he was grossly incompetent in his position.

I'd love to hear these cats spin this one.

what's even worse was Donna apparently protecting him for this very reason for so many years. We had commies in charge of The U...its no wonder our hallowed juggernaught, revered the world over, became a cheap nickel and diming laughingstock.

Maybe I am reading a little too much into this, but it seems kind of weak that Richt has James doing the firing.

Relly, you forgot we had a WR coach with the following résumé': 1 year as a HS position coach; 1 year in the secretarial pool at UM.

Chise, ur right; totally missed that and the RB coach who had ties to the community and did ish w our recruiting.

Out great RB coach with deep local ties who couldn't even convince his own son to sign with UM? That guy?

After reading that piece, I have more questions than answers/info.

How so? What questions are you thinking of? Just curious as to your thoughts.

I mean, if Swasey couldn't officially work the team out at the facilities, what the heck was going on? Who was doing it? What was Swasey's role? I presume they found a way around it, but how abysmal are the "real journalists" who didn't unearth this while covering the team?

At the very least, if you're going to drop that in the middle of the article, I think a little clarification would help everyone. The S&C coach is the day-to-day fuel for the attitude of any team.

Maybe the "journalists" feared they'd have their credentials taken away? Seemed like Gluten wanted to ban anyone with hard hitting questions or dared question what was going on.

Nothing is funnier than the image of incompetent Swasey locked outside the Hecht screaming incorrect fitness advice at the window.

The thing is, as I said in a post above, that is by far the biggest news in that piece. It really requires more clarification.

I've sometimes heard directly from players and often from people really close to the team/players/coaches. This is the first I hear of this. There has to be more to it. Maybe it was a hush-hush thing and he still worked out with the players. Who knows. Either way, as I said, the S&C coach is the day-to-day fuel! It's a critical position to outcomes in more ways than just strength and conditioning.

Reportedly, Swasey was S&C coach for the whole athletic program, not just football. Even if he was fired at Richt's behest, he likely reported to the AD. So, it would be appropriate for the AD to advise him of the firing.

Are those the same "ghetto moron" and "gutter rat" that wanted to crucify the BLACK head coach Randy Shannon?

Yeah. Off all the mind blowing failures over the years this one really takes the cake for me.

Probably not.

May have been said already but I can see Richt going up to Blake and saying, "Hey Blake, how about going in there and firing our S & C coach, yeah, you know, the one you let run the S & C program that couldn't pass the freaking test that he should be able to pass to do the job. Yeah, go ahead, Blake, get in there and do it, I don't have time for this crap".

Now, anybody know who's gonna get Swaseys' job?

Wow! That tells you all that you need to know. He should have been gone a long time ago.

Soooooooooooooo, for the record; we had an incompetent MAC coach, who had a sub 30 winning pct against teams with a pulse, and a sub 20 winning pct against teams with heart.

We had a def coordinator who thought he was a genius, but consistently fumbled through his paperwork to call plays and thought a safety who ran a 4.8 was Deon Bushesq.

We had a DB coach who allowed players to talk back to him and did absolutely nothing in player development and recruiting

We had an o-coordinator who was successful only on script plays and called for a HB option pass in a blizzard where trained QBs were having trouble throwing the ball

We had an o-line coach, God bless his soul, who lived off the past, called former players to tell them to stop complaining about the crappy coaching, and who's o-line set unbelievable negative play records, and almost got our franchise QB killed in the past 2 yrs.

We hired a d-line coach who's body work consist of him "leaving" programs after 2 yrs or less and his last stint was at FIU.

Now, ur telling me our S & C coach was unable to past the prerequisite to be considered a true S & C coach, and wasn't allowed to be with the kids to train them in S & C and yet he was on the payroll??

THANK GOD, this chitty dog and pony clown production is out of my face!

Yikes, it hurt reading this.

Yet, per the troll and Golden we were building something great here, and we "deserved" victory. My God, u couldn't make this ish up if u wanted to, yet we saw it live in full production. Honestly, as a Canes fan, this had to be the worst 10 yrs of my life. I know we have some fans here that's been through the Kichefski, Curci, Elliot, and Saban decade, but those guys didn't have the resources Golden had....that era was still known as the University of Miami era, not the U era...those guys didn't send a total of 27 players to the NFL, including 13 drafted in the first 3 rounds.

I'm glad we moved on, but these past 5 yrs, especially, put a real bitter taste in mouth. Randy was a str8 corch, but at least we saw his teams compete, we saw his team beat FSU once...Golden was allowed to set the clock back on Canes football to the 70's, making one of the most talented teams in the nation, look like the worst team in the nation. And had not Shalala not "moved on" to greener pastures, I'm convinced this guy would still be allowed to coach here. Thank God, we have a Real President and a Real Coach again.

In hindsight, I now look at the baseball and basketball programs bringing in their own S&C coaches and wonder
if those coaches saw a need that Swasey's staff wasn't addressing?
