FSU

Tough to admit it but cornrow Mike has done a good job in the portal. But if Travis got hurt he'd be fooked. Guy is still a corch and an average at best recruiter.

I concur. Credit to him for getting Travis and his improvement, as well as, some key players from the portal. Some of his decisions are perplexing and have their fans wanting to murder him.

It’s as I said. I remember him trying to cut in or something and I didn’t see him trying as I was even with him and he started yelling and cursing and I noticed that some guy in a BMW with a chick was having a cow yelling at me and I said “Hey -I didn’t even see you” and he kept yelling and I said “now I’m not letting you in *******” at which point my buddy said to me - “hey, RVA, that’s Boris Becker.” And Boris was yelling still and I looked at him and said to my buddy “oh yeah it is” and then I looked at Boris and said something like “hey Boris fûck you, you wanna fight? - let’s do it. Pull over.” And then he drove away.

I mean that was violent for me 💁🏻‍♂️
I once almost got into it with Scottie Pippen outside of the Forge. He tried to steal a taxi from a group of girls we were friends with. I called him out on it, he got defensive and mouthed back, I called him No Tippin Pippen (apparently he is notorious for being a terrible tipper), he got upset for being called out for that in front of his woman… and then his cab showed up.

Jordan and Tiger were notorious for it too. A friend of mine watched Barkley with them in a casino gambling and he’d tip the dealer and then fûck with them saying this is called a tip. I was there but not with him at the time. Lol

Thanks for sharing. I don’t know why but I get a kick out of stories like this. Maybe because they’re like the “Celebrities — they’re just like us” type of stories you see in tabloids.

I watched Boris play on Court 1 at Wimbledon in the late 90’s. He definitely did not seem to care to be there at that stage of his career. It doesn’t surprise me to hear that he’s a bit of a d*ck.

I think we’re going to be similar to those numbers soon enough.
It's going to be the norm going forward for most programs. The ability to fill shortcomings on rosters has changed the way coaches fill out teams and makes recruiting misses more manageable.

@RVACane I’ve been meaning to ask you to add me to the MOT list.

What’s the latest count up to these days?
Whoa!!!! A lot of us here. Not sure of the count. A few I know of who haven’t put it on the board. And way back in 2000-03 I knew the fight promoter, Cedric Kushner, one of ours from your country of origin.

I remember you doing a MOT shout out several years ago and it was impressive how many of us there were. I just a lurker back then.

Wow! That’s cool about you knowing Cedric Kushner…and pretty random lol. There are people on this board with interesting life stories and I think you’re definitely one of them.

Yeah, I’m a mess lol

So does that mean 2 years from now we'll be what FSU is today?

That’s what I am afraid of. A similar trajectory.

Their backup Qb looked pretty good when he came in for Travis after he got hurt in the Lville game. I was thinking the backup looked as good if not better than Travis.

The thing that trips me out is the Nolies infatuation with G5 Mike. Any other respectable program in America would be calling for their coaches head if he were 12-14 in conference play yet their fan base seems to be doubling down. It’s like they’re so delusional they’ve actually convinced themselves he’s a good coach, or maybe they have grown to accept mediocrity.

Disagree on the backup looking good. I watched that same game and left thinking, "Rodemaker isn't good at all, but Wilson at WR is a problem"
Going 6 for 10 with 2 TD’s coming off the bench on the road in a hostile stadium is impressive to me. I thought the kid did a great job and looked more than capable of doing the job.

No, they just see improvement. They're looking at it from a micro point of view. They suffered through a bad Jimbo team in 2017, all the turmoil that came with him leaving, Willie was obviously a complete disaster in 2018, 2019 was just as bad and they fired him, 2020 they lose to Miami 52-10, but last year they were at least competitive compared to the last few years, and this year they start the season 4-0.

So, like most fans, they can't see the forest for the trees. Mike has improved the program since he took over. No doubt about it, they're a better team and much better coached now than they were in 2018, 2019, and 2020. But what's his ceiling as a coach? You can't win anything of note if you recruit in the 20's. You just can't. It's an indisputable fact. And he's not a great recruiter, so that side of the house isn't going to change much. I've said it since the day he was hired, and nothing has changed, in my opinion. He's a high floor, low ceiling coach.

Completely agree with this analysis. Imho, Norvell is a 7-5/8-4 a year type of coach. FSU is definitely improved from last year, they did a nice job in the portal, but that isn't a staff that's particularly good at recruiting.

Also, I'm interested to see what happens over the next few weeks. More likely than not, they'll be 4-3 going into their bye. How do they respond to a three-game losing streak?

They're only a 3 point dog to NC State on the road this week. I was surprised to see the line that low. Saturday is a huge game for them. NC State is ranked, FSU never plays well in Raleigh, and Clemson is looming. You're right, 4-0 turning to 4-3 in 3 weeks would suck all the momentum out of them. But getting through the first 7 games at 5-2 is a major win for them.

HUGE matchup this week. Would be nice to see NCSU beat them 41-10.
