I am disappointed too. Who wouldn't be?

Of the top 20 teams, 5 had very disappointing years. We were one of those. Many others that started top 20 were major disappointments that didn't make the top 5 list.

Knowing our QBs, OL, losing Richards at LSU, and the disaster of a punter(s). Was top 20 realistic?

With some more beneficial finishes, and more buckets full of turnovers, like in 2017, yes. Otherwise, probably not.

Diappointment is a function of having yourself believe something wonderful is going to happen, but it doesn't.

I assure you that every single person reading this, replying or otherwise, is disappointed in our 2018. None of this changes my initial post.

PS Of the top 20 teams preseason, most of those that had been ranked 6-20 (other than Notre Dame) are maybe àt least a little disappointed.

The disappointment stems from something that Richt could fix. He saddled himself with a "yes man" staff around him. He decided to hire his kid as QB coach whom was qualified. He decided to stick with an archaic offensive scheme that worked 30 years ago, even though his colleagues who have more cache in their resume's have changed with the times. He's the one that keeps sticking by upper classmen regardless of the youth being the better option. Fans are upset because those whom have analyzed Richt's career, knows deep down that there's really no change coming voluntarily. That's why we're disappointed.

I know the knee jerk reaction to why it has not happened in 15 years (other than with Richt in 2017), is because Richt is as bad as the other horrible hires... and that the solution is easy: there is a long line of coaches that the UM administration will hire and is willing to be hired is chalk full of absolute sure fire winners.

But I am not as certain as you of that fact.

As I've said before, 100% of us are disappointed. Maybe me more than most. I really, really wanted this year to be great. I watch all the spring interviews. The work the team was doing. It was exciting. How much worse could Rosier be? Although we we're moving into year 3/4 of the Golden OL recruits, how bad could they be? Feagles was a well regarded punter from a UM/NFL pedigree. Richards was coming back. We were ranked 8/9. Exciting. We're back. Oops.

His "yes men" staff and "archaic" offense worked fine in 2017. And is the offense really that archaic? As I recall FSU was not an RPO heavy team. Nor was Georgia.

And he very much plays the younger guy. Not every young guy has overtaken a spot.

But YES. We are all disappointed. And should be. And hope we get some more stud recruits in the next 2 years to massively overfill the folks left behind by Golden's final 2 classes.

Dabo was fighting with Clemson fans last week because they’re undefeated but only beat their rival by 21. Clemson fans have been bytching and moaning because they’re not winning impressively enough.
 
Serious question.

Do you think a significant number, any number, of recruits or players make decisions based on what fans say or think?

After deep thought consideration. I consider Richtirement to be the coach we don't want.

Dabo had at least 3 years of struggling and a couple more years until clemon stopped “clemsoning”..he was 6-7 in year 3 after winning 9 games the previous year

He lost that year in the Meineke Car Care Bowl to South Florida on his way to a 1-3 bowl record, and, for history sake, he showed up for the job interview as an assistant (like Shannon) and with a binder of ideas (ala Golden).

Would I and the rest of our fans have run him off before he built the jaugernaut that is now
consistently near the top of the heap.

If I'm being honest with myself, I would have been in the middle of the pack carrying torches, pitchforks and trying to get everyone to fly planes with banners saying, "DABO'S A DUMBO, GIVE HIM THE HEAVE-HO"

I would have been short-sighted.

Fact is a lot of canes are household names because of their nfl days.every player on every team we play based on that fact alone those players will give us they're best shot they can.plus it doesn't help when our coaches don't game plan around our weaknesses.we've seen it on both sides of ball from the last two coaching regimes.and we've seen the lack of developing players for the last 4 regimes.

You gonna pretend that our fanbases negativity doesn’t at all effect anything.,that it’s just white noise..that’s very naive..if that was the case tho..then why go on social media and rant about what makes y’all upset?? It’s not just white noise. These kids see the dumb **** on social media, then show up to the games and see the fickle sensitive fans not show up..so yeah it does in some ways effect a recruits exprience
