Food for Thought

You really are ready to go down with the ship on this argument. Dabo was a first time HC when he took over at Clemson. He didn't have 15 years of experience like Richt does. Dabo had to build that program up and learn along the way. Dabo made changes when necessary. It took Richt's bosses to force him to make changes while he was at UGA. If you don't see the issues, I can't help you.
The real difference... Dabo made staff changes when he had to. Once he got his staff right, he hit his stride. Look at that defense before and after BV.

Exactly. Dabo was learning along the way, but he knew when he needed to make changes. Richt has shown a propensity for keeping the same staff around regardless of results, unless he's forced to. Blake James isn't forcing Richt to do anything. That's why the fanbase is up in arms.

And honestly, Blake shouldn’t have to. Richt should know better.

Yup. Blake is merely under criticism because he's useless as an AD. But if you have a HC that doesn't evaluate on an annual basis (ie Brian Kelly in 2016), than you have a lame duck coach. We saw it with Golden, we're seeing it with Richt.

People are calling for Richt's head now because we already know he's going to stick with the staff and isn't going to make changes. This is what he did at UGA, and this is what he's going to do at Miami. Only reason he made changes at UGA is because their admin forced him to. He won't get that from Blake James. The problem with Richt is he's flagrantly mishandled this season, particularly the QB position. And just because we haven't been elite for the last 15 years, doesn't mean Richt deserves to slide with mediocre results.

Also, I brought up Richt's tenure because you slurpers keep mentioning Dabo in year 3. Dabo was a first time HC, Richt isn't. Or do you not see the difference?
No there is no diff..new place equals new start. You hire a headcoach to be the headcoach and because they are READY to be the HC and implement a consistent winning program ..There’s no such thing as “learning on the job” . Dabo from day 1 had a plan and worked towards that plan. And 8 years later Natty. The point is if he were at miami y’all wouldvd called for his head year 3 regardless if this was his 1st ever HC job. The same way y’all did with randy

It takes time to build a consistent program..the 1st 3 years you should expect up and downs..year 4 & 5 is when u generally know what u have Especially when your taking over a program who haven’t won since 2002.

Burn it down every year it's working! - Miami fans.

But....in reality nothing gets burned down every year.
We go through these long coach tenures where every single one of those head coaches gets extended all while we can all see we are going on the wrong tragetory.

Yes, we keep going on the wrong tragetory.

I honestly get where Blake is coming from.. u hire someone because u trust their judgement.. but still, this is so obvious.

Holy god. How are you not grasping this concept? I cannot make this any more clear.

- OP was comparing Dabo's 3rd year to Richt's 3rd year.
- Dabo was a first time HC when he took the HC job.
- Richt had 15 years of prior experience.

The last 2 points are a comparison of why Dabo likely struggled because he was learning the job. It wasn't to be used as a simple basis for Richt deserving to be fired. It's saying that the two aren't comparable and that their situations are running parallel with one another.

And for everyone that loves to do these type of scenarios where Coach X is struggling so we'll look at Coach Y as an excuse. Saban went 5-7 his first year at Bama. Taggart went 5-7 at FSU. Do you really think that Taggart's going to have the same run as Saban is? No, because that's a retarded way of thinking.

Oh, I agree and in the long run may be a blessing in disguise. If Richt took/takes the BOT's lifeline and hires a top notch OC by the advice of the administration, he's afforded multiple years to get things right. However, if Richt remains with the status quo and insists everything's fine, has a season similar to this one, the board and Blake can then fire him saying "Hey, we gave you a shot to make changes, you said everything was fine when it wasn't".

Dabo fired coordinators until he found what worked. Richt has not.

End of discussion.

It's not asking for much.

If that's all you people were asking for. How many times have we seen "________ would have us in the playoffs with our talent". People actually believe that our roster should be winning with Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.
