Flagg is not hurt

200+ comments and the only thing we know for sure is that the dude is polarizing.

The only thing I know is that I have been constantly frustrated with the positions that the LBs find themselves in. Whether that is bad instinct and athleticism or bad coaching and scheme, I can't say. We will find out soon enough.

To be honest, the entire LB room has been a blur to me over the last 2-3 years. I couldn't tell most of them apart from Steed to Flagg to Jennings. Maybe that makes me a bad fan but I don't feel that way about any other position. I just think they were all so mediocre that they just disappeared on the field and didn't stand out. To me, that is an indictment of the entire position because they were all interchangeable jags.

The fact that Ryan Ragone got any burn at all should have shamed every dude in that room. The fact that the play didn't drop off with him says a lot. If that dude is doing anything beside playing wrecking ball on special teams then you have a roster problem.

Respectfully, Flagg's not polarizing at all. People are making it out to be more than it is. Flagg is what he is. He's a team player, incredibly coachable and likeable, and overall a leader. He's limited physically but relatively fluid and highly experienced. High floor kid with a low to mid ceiling.

Hey, we got someone like that at Center and he's crushing it. If I'm wrong and the pieces around the MLB spot are strong enough for Flagg to shine at MLB, I'll be thrilled. At the same time, I hope Johnson plays the majority of snaps in 2022. And I hope a guy like Bryant can come in and take the spot away from him in 2023.

I hope the best player gets the majority of snaps. If the board had its way Harley would have been permanently benched after a few drops vs UAB.

Flagg is exactly where he should be. Caleb Johnson will likely end up the starter at MLB even if he doesn’t start week 1. Flagg will play. Coaches love guys like him. He’s smart and works hard. He had every opportunity to hit the transfer portal but stayed here and embraced competition. But none of that can completely cover for his severe lack of athleticism. He’s small and slow and there’s no scheme that’s going to change that. That doesn’t mean he’s worthless. He’ll have a role as the 2nd team MLB. He’s not going to wow a lot of people but the coaches are confident he can sub for a series and not look lost. His athletic ceiling limits how good of a player he can be but he’s exactly what you want in a rotational/reserve linebacker.

EXACTLY!

Shout out Corey Flagg and @SouthParkCane for keeping it real with Corey.

We got people who never been a Hurricane athletically or academically telling Corey he’s not good enough to represent our progrum against the opinions of black belt level football minds.

I hope he succeeds this year and make an impact play we remember.

I happy that he playing better but is why he so concerned negative internet chatter?

You play well and they’ll cheer your name…play bad and you’ll get the opposite, that’s never going to go away whether it be college or the pros

Flagg was fine. The entire defense was fine. A&M's offense is absolutely brutal, but they did the job they needed to do. If you give up 250 total yards in a college football game, you should win every single time.

Let's put it this way:

A&M had 264 yards of offense. In 2021, there were 4 offenses in the entire country who averaged less than 264 yards of offense. Connecticut, Southern Miss, Colorado, and New Mexico. That's it.

So the defense limited A&M to production akin to one of the literal worst offenses in the entire country. Yes, A&M stinks. We know that. But they were the team we lined up against, and the defense more than did their job.

The offense and special teams were massive, massive failures and they let the defense down tremendously. Steele and his group should be excited about their prospects for the rest of the season.

Flagg, Caleb and Wesley are the only 3 LBs I want to see at this point. I do with Chase would get his **** together because you can tell he has great instincts - he just needs to learn the position. He’ll get there tho. Unfortunately I’ve seen enough of Steed and Keontra has always been overhyped at LB.

Hes not , really. but he’s well aware he’s hated. He wants to make the comments change. Poor kid. Just wants to make his fan base proud

He has a great technician coaching him, and he's being used far more effectively in this scheme. To be fair, I'm not certain many LBs could cover 84% of the field either, but we asked him to do a lot last that didn't fit his weaknesses, but him in a spot where he can get downhill and he's solid. Two very good games in a row.
