Jaiden Bryant is a Miami Hurricane.

The 6'4, 245 five-star DE from Columbia, South Carolina officially flipped from LSU to the Canes on Wednesday night. He is the #20 overall player in America, but as I wrote three months ago on the Bank, the staff has long valued Bryant as a top-of-the-board player:

The Canes are focused on elite players on the edge. Jaiden Bryant (Columbia, SC) might be the best player in America. He is committed to LSU but visiting the Canes on May 29th. Expect a full-court press.

Bryant was South Carolina's Co-Defensive Player of the Year, finishing his junior season with 79 tackles (23 TFL), 11 sacks, 6 FR and 1 INT. His Irmo team went 12-2 and made South Carolina’s Class AAAAA Division 2 title game.



On the track, he holds a PR of 52'1 in the shotput and also throws discus and javelin. His power has been compared to Rueben Bain, and he also has the athleticism to play offense.

Bryant visited this past weekend and told CanesInSight's Sebastian Font, “it's definitely heavy knowing Miami got two first rounders with the same coach [Jason Taylor], that’s a key piece to my recruitment.” He also praised DC Corey Hetherman: “I love the scheme — vertical upfield, my type of playstyle, my type of defense. I definitely love it.”



Bryant is Miami's 18th commit in the 2027 and its fourth five-star commit.

 

I definitely think we get Henderson.

Not that you don't take him, but that doesn't seem like the best investment given we landed two very good LBs already.
DJ Jacobs, Ideally still a top-ish OT, a WR, Safety, and another TE (Cartwright, or just go for a late riser like last year).

Then again if Bonner+Pruitt don't show much this year, I'm not big on Marcelin, and then after that it's all the freshman and Wiley who hasn't wont the job and seems a bit behind or maybe moving to a hybrid edge role... So 3 LBs is definitely something I'd be down for. Just don't know if we should be spending that type of bag in addition to the 2 we already have at LB. I'd rather spend it on a top safety personally.

 

2027 season our EDGE room could be
SDE: Blount (or at DT), Lowe, Keona Davis (or at DT), Bryant, Scroggins
WDE: Lightfoot, Charles, Pickett, Lafayette, Dawson.

Literally Dawson is the only player on the projected 2027 EDGE room currently who was < 90 rating in composite coming out of HS. Our AVERAGE at EDGE for this room is 94.23. (24 avg was 92.75, 25 avg was 93.95, and this seasons average is 93.78). That's ELITE. It's like saying the AVERAGE Edge on the roster is a top 130 player, and there are 10 of them... And there is always possibility we still flip Jacobs. Even if we removed Blount+Davis and sent them to the DT room, the average would be 94.12

Bag schools THRIVED off the cheating of underhanded untraceable cash deals. But more importantly, they thrived off not having an open market being forced to negotiate. They were able to low-ball athletes by offering cars & other non-fungibles that came at no cost to them.

Now that it's out in the open, they can't outbid the market & the result is schools like TTech, Miami, UCLA showing up outta nowhere & getting steals that were once reserved for a handful of teams.

NIL has also exposed that a lot of Coaches got by on program prestige to do their recruiting for them.

You give a relentless worker like Mario an unlimited War-chest, he's completely lapping the Coaches who are used to just getting 5-star commits because the logo on their polo.

It's gotten to the point where every time I see UGA and Bama I absolutely think "easy win"

We are on a different NIL level now.

Nah. Very different players. He is definitely far more in reubens mold though at least at first glance. Not as advanced coming out of high school but we don't need him to be either. Dj is definitely a far better pass rusher. Much deeper tool box he can rely on. Not gonna try to pick the kid apart. He's a **** good pick up and more proof that in this nil era you can flip anyone at any given second. Let's not start ****ting on Dj now. Just my thought. I wouldn't do it.

What's so dishonest about the SEC man crying, was they had a system where they saw Bama, UGA, Ohio and then rotating few others every post season be the only realistic ones with a shot to win it, then u look at the top 5 classes and it was the same ones. They never cried and complained, they were in their stands shouting SEC. And Ohio man shouting The Ohio. Now everyone has to battle for players. Its not like we had a class like this every season. We had like #9 last cycle and #14 the class before that. Saban in congress pocket watching talking bout the increase in NIL budget, yet in Florida enjoying the millions he got when the players got a Hellcat. The privilege ones that is.
