Fan support for Cristobal?

I think there are some fans who are (overly) emotional over the loss on Friday. That's natural. But overall, I think most fan are still supporting Cristobal for the most part

My view is Cristobal gives us the best chance (for whatever defiencies he might have as a coach) to get back to a consistently high level. He has already raised the floor significantly. Maybe Im being overly dramatic in thinking that if it doesn't work with him -- Im not sure it will work with anyone at UM.

He's gotten more support and has the backing of key individuals that help finance this whole thing .

With that said, I love his seriousness as a leader. For too long Miami has been soft and a bit of a clown show. He's an elite recruiter, and this isn't just a job for him - or at least just a stop over. Miami finally has a shot to have their version of Bobby Bowden. Maybe that doesn't matter in this era, but I'm still a fan of long-term stability.

On the flipside, I have concerns over the pace and tempo of the offense, at times. Every season he will lose a game (or two) that boggles your mind. If Im not mistaken, Miami has now lost three games in their last 10 or 11 as a double-digit favorite vs ACC teams

It is what it is.

Mario, as I said before, has greatly raised the floor of this program. For that he must be given credit. Now, the question is -- how high is Miami's ceiling with him?

I personally think Miami has to win out to make the playoffs. Lets see if he can prepare and lead this team to the finish line.

I’m sure this game (a game in which he won by the way, with a much worst team) perfectly encompasses his resume as a head coach and OC, Jagr 👍🏻

We won against Notre Dame, FSU, and Florida and still got blasted for "going conservative".

Why the excuse for Brohm?

Only way he goes is if we collapse and lose four more games. 7-5 would completely undermine the narrative of improvement. Even then, he has allies in the administration, no?

If you think we've only "improved on paper", you're just not going to be happy no matter what we do. It's like when people were complaining that we only beat Nebraska 37-14 to win a national title.
A little carried away with the sarcasm I see, point is we lost a game we shouldn't have which has been a Mario weakness yeah, we have improved but we're not at the level of where we should be with this roster when we are losing games like this. Just keeping it real and some people get offended by that. Obviously as a fan I WANT the guy to succeed but it's the same concerning issues creeping up every year and he needs to be more accountable and fix that ****.

Which coach is currently setting the standard for not "losing a game he shouldn't"?

That doesn't happen. If you get a lead, you continue to score at will. The other team has no role in this.
My apologies for not understanding, but if one team is leading, and the opposing team make adjustments, they still shouldn’t score points?

I have heard all season that you should still score points. Then when I hear how unstoppable we would be with Brohm calling plays, I can't help but look at what he did with a lead.

They benchmark us to 2001. We will never see 2001 level dominance again. From anyone

And even that team had a scare or two.
If you watched the BC game live in 2001, you know how close that was to a loss. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I would point out that the folks I'm talking about either benchmark it to 2001 with a case of amnesia about that game or they benchmark it to Dynasty Mode on Madden at a beginner level....and I think it's a lot closer to the second.

Very reasonable take Steve.

Without question, there’s no one that would invest their heart and soul into the program like Mario has.

Obviously, there’s been a huge $$$ investment since Mario arrived. Is that investment directly tied to him or the program? I believe the answer is obvious.

I think most of us expected at least 1 loss. It’s extremely difficult to go undefeated in CFB these days. Saban only did it twice. The real test will be in the coming weeks as to whether or not this team can rebound from last Friday’s loss. Rumors abound but play on the field will be the determining factor.

I know the history. If/when Mario retires does that mean the NIL dries up?

I see a lot of people say this , but is it true? Seems like it's all conjecture.

Why wouldn't the next coach get the same support?
I’m only stating my opinion, no evidence to back it up. If Mario creates a dynasty and decide to retire, ala Saban, I could see the money sticking around. But my point is, If he ever gets fired, bye bye money

But he said pick any guy who has done more with less. So we get rid of the buffoon who can only go 10-2 and go after _____________ who takes us to 9-3, 7-5, etc. Again, I know Mario is the center of everyone's universe, but you can't just keep trying the next guy.
If our program's ceiling is 10-2, then yeah, let's keep Mario.

But if it's higher than that, then I think we should cycle thru coaches every few years until we find our Kirby or Dabo. The problem is we've cycled thru lower tier guys like Randy and Manny. We need to start cycling thru guys like Mario and Kiffin until one hits.

How many times do we fire a Mario or Kiffin for only going 10-2 before anyone worth going after says "no thanks"?

yeah, hopefully this is just a hiccup, and not a full blown illness. This is now a litmus test for Mario and the program. Lets see where we stand in year 4 of Cristobal..

Participation trophy for caring. A devil's advocate could argue that if he really cared, he would work smarter, not harder, would adapt faster, etc.

If the school is serious they will provide resources to any coaches and evaluate Mario that same way as they would other coaches, and how other top schools evaluate their staffs. At the same time, it is also fair if they said, we haven't done **** for athletics in 20 years, let's give it a little time.

But the thought that Mario is the only coach that can win games at Miami is blind Miami-ing.
