Fan support for Cristobal?

This just can't be true. If it is, it's a major indictment on the AD and school president.
Just my opinion. Where was all this dedication before Mario arrived. I’m aware there was no NIL before Mario took over but look at the lazy hires and facilities

Participation trophy for caring. A devil's advocate could argue that if he really cared, he would work smarter, not harder, would adapt faster, etc.

If the school is serious they will provide resources to any coaches and evaluate Mario that same way as they would other coaches, and how other top schools evaluate their staffs. At the same time, it is also fair if they said, we haven't done **** for athletics in 20 years, let's give it a little time.

But the thought that Mario is the only coach that can win games at Miami is blind Miami-ing.
That’s the real question - would the $$$ dry up if Mario left for whatever reason? None of us know the answer.

College football fans need to get used to the fact that the system is constructed in a way that it’s extremely difficult to go undefeated anymore. I’m really curious to see how this team responds. With the 12 team playoff now, if you’re one of the “top” teams you’re basically granted one mulligan. If you’re an SEC/Big Ten team possibly two, but the margin for error in the ACC is much smaller. We have to win out now…no other option.

I think there are some fans who are (overly) emotional over the loss on Friday. That's natural. But overall, I think most fan are still supporting Cristobal for the most part

My view is Cristobal gives us the best chance (for whatever defiencies he might have as a coach) to get back to a consistently high level. He has already raised the floor significantly. Maybe Im being overly dramatic in thinking that if it doesn't work with him -- Im not sure it will work with anyone at UM.

He's gotten more support and has the support of key individuals that help finance this whole thing .

With that said, I love his seriousness as a leader. For too long Miami has been soft and a bit of a clown show. He's an elite recruiter, and this isn't just a job for him - or at least just a stop over. Miami finally has a shot to have their version of Bobby Bowden. Maybe that doesn't matter in this era, but I'm still a fan of long-term stability.

On the flipside, I have concerns over the pace and tempo of the offense, at times. Every season he will lose a game (or two) that boggles your mind. If Im not mistaken, Miami has now lost three games in their last 10 or 11 as a double-digit favorite vs ACC teams

It is what it is.

Mario, as I said before, has greatly raised the floor of this program. For that he must be given credit. Now, the question is -- how high is Miami's ceiling with him?

I personally think Miami has to win out to make the playoffs. Lets see if he can prepare and lead this team to the finish line.

We just need to lock him up in locker room on game day... then we will be fine

Since the beginning of last year, we are 15-4, and that includes a bowl game that we didn't really care to win. So I pulled up the best records in the country since the start of last season for comparison. Again, these do include post-season games, so it's a little skewed because some teams were playing very competitive playoff games, and some were playing meaningless bowl games. But here are all the teams who have a better record than us since the start of last season:

Ohio State 21-2
Oregon 19-2
BYU 18-2
Indiana 18-2
Memphis 17-3
Navy 16-3

That's it. There are 6 teams in the country who have lost fewer than 4 games since the beginning of last season. Are there people calling for the heads of any of these coaches on any internet message boards? I would assume no. **** NO on Indiana, Oregon, Taint. Even if you want to include the teams who have lost 4 games like we have, you get:

UGA
Notre Dame
Boise
UNLV
Missouri
Ole Miss

Again, any of those teams have fanbases who are calling their coach a useless prick and discussing how much support they have or deserve?

I'm not ready to throw a ticker tape parade for our coach. We haven't won ****, and we're all starving to do so. But at this point, can we just have a hint of perspective? Does the program not look to be much more competent than it has for basically the last 20 years? I have no idea if Mario will ever win anything here, but I don't think after winning 10 games last year (aka the best season we've had in forever), and then beating our 3 biggest rivals already this year, being 5-1 at the halfway mark, and being top 10 in the country, he deserves to be run out of town, either.

I don't know what it is with this fanbase just salivating over eating its own, but it's really bizarre.

I’m only stating my opinion, no evidence to back it up. If Mario creates a dynasty and decide to retire, ala Saban, I could see the money sticking around. But my point is, If he ever gets fired, bye bye money
This is what I'm not sure of. The school for whatever reason decided to go "all in", maybe it was solely due to Mario or maybe they just realized they need to invest in the program and paying for a quality coach was part of the upgrade.

I just wondered if there was some report that was out there that said the reason the school went all in was because Mario was available that's all.

I concur my man. I concur. I am skeptical all around, including whether that repeated rhetoric is Voice of the Hecht Mario World propaganda. Should we be firing Mario for winning 10 games this year? No sir. Should we be preparing an extension? Absolutely ******* not. Should we be questioning whether he has what it takes to get us to the top? Yes we should --- especially if he continues to lose games the way he loses games.

In the meantime, let's win and invest in him adapting more quickly -- specifically on Saturdays.

Mario is losing to Teams that he's been a double digit favorite to win

And why is he a double-digit favorite? Because he brought in the talent for Vegas to think we're 10+ points better.

Did it make you feel better when Manny lost to ACC teams when we were favored by 3? You're judged by wins and losses. Win or GTFO. Nobody here is looking to retire by betting Miami moneylines, I hope.

How many times do we fire a Mario or Kiffin for only going 10-2 before anyone worth going after says "no thanks"?
Also, how many coaches are even if this category for cycling? Say what you want, but Miami is a Top 15 or 20 job in college football but it is definitively not a Top 5 or 10 job.

Even this cycle, the best candidates are Lane (who lost to two unranked teams last year with arguably the most talented roster in the sport), James Franklin (we all know the story) and Eli Drinkwitz (I guess he's good).

There are only like 7-8 coaches who definitively have better credentials than Mario and none of those guys are leaving their current jobs, so we are firing guys who go 10-2 so we can play pin the tail on the hot coordinator with a good offense? Miss me with that.

Mario deserves better than to watch our fanbase abandon ship because we lost by three points to an underrated Louisville team with one of the best playcalling head coaches in the sport.

What amazes me about Mario is that while he carries himself around like a true alpha male that you don't wanna F with, he coaches on gameday like a soy boy beta male that's scared ****less of blowing a 3pt lead in the 2nd qtr.

Nothing amazing about it. Fake Miami bravado, Straight from the 305.

We need to be careful with our wishes. He goes, and the NIL money goes with him.
Not calling you out as I've seen this said a lot but is this actually still true? I really doubt it. Whatever happens with Mario, i think he's at least proven the school can be significant again and I'm assuming boosters want to see how far this thing can go.

At the time he was hired, i think this statement more than likely applied...at least to a certain extent.

Mario was the only HC who could have replaced Diaz and rebuilt the program. He was the only HC who would have obtained the resources to do so.

He is an excellent recruiter and adapted his organization to the new era of the Portal, NIL, and revenue sharing. Who else flipped back-to-back starting QBs from the NFL draft? Who else went out and pulled a player from another program (Lucas) by having the player transfer to Miami, Portal or not? He's lost players, lost out on players, and still signed players and improved the roster.

His primary mistake was many or most of the coaching staff choices made during Years 1-3. He can swap out a position coach or a coordinator but players and programs need continuity. Hetherman and new defensive staff seems to be on the right track.

I do think his reputation for player development is overrated. Otherwise Miami wouldn't have had to completely rebuild the WR, LB, and DB rooms from the Portal. There should have been players entering their RS-Soph season ready to step in and play. There were a number of recruiting disappointments, compounded by poor staffing, especially defense that lead to this problem.

What Mario needs is a moment when realizes his way isn't working optimally and he needs to change. He often speaks about accountability but does he ever think he needs to do something different? Or does just tell himself 'everyone needs to work harder'? He's changed coaches and players have come and gone. How does he view himself and his philosophy?

Nick Saban was a "run the ball and play defense" HC when Mario was there but Saban realized there are times where you need to keep scoring points to win. He knew he couldn't win every game 24-10. He knew he had to win shootouts if he wanted to win NCs. Nick Saban adapted and won a few more championships, like him or respect him or not.

Dabo Sweeney has not adapted, at least in regards to the Portal. His program has suffered in comparison to prior accomplishments. Dabo's 'my way or the highway' may soon see him on the highway.

Which future HC is Mario going to be?

Mario has built a real roster and I'll take a championship roster over some mickey mouse guy who can't recruit but I would prefer knowing we are fully delegating to the coordinators and listening to analysts and being high IQ in addition to high talent.

From the quotes it seems like the OC hiring process first goes through a filter of whether the OC's blocking scheme and run game fits with Mirabal, then our play-calling tendencies get adjusted toward conservative plays that are less likely to be stopped for negative yards.

Our #1 offense was because of Ward not because we spammed duo while cosplaying as Michigan, I don't wanna hear "it is what it is we gonna keep running into stacked boxes" out of our staph.
