I mean Auburn didnā€™t stink before the end of 2024, the kid was money before that. He was all conference, and between 22-23 was 18-25 from 40+.

The kid got the shanks man, someone put some change in his back left pocket.

I agree with these points completely. Something happened around November of 2024. I wish I could explain it.

But if you were "Texas", and had seen Auburn in 2022 and 2023, you would not have had a reason to doubt him in 2024.

That is all. He's done very well before. He might be able to return to that level. I hope and pray that he does.

Over four seasons, he did not miss a single extra point. And for NEARLY three seasons, he was a very accurate FG kicker (he did not attempt any FGs as a freshman). 3 of his 9 missed FGs in 2024 came in November. And 4 of those 9 missed FGs came in the post-season games.

That is not to make an excuse. It is to point out that for his ENTIRE CAREER (except for November-December 2024) he was one of the best kickers in all of college football. He is the all-time leading scorer in Texas history.

Something happened. Whether it was physical or mental, he suddenly hit a bad patch in late 2024. But let's not pretend his "inaccuracy" was spread throughout the 2024 year or over his entire career. He was a dominant college kicker until his last few games of 2024.

I don't know whether we can fix him. But he was great in 2022. He was great in 2023. And he was great in September and October of 2024. I hope we can get him back on track, because we don't have a lot of options here.

He was even over 80% in high school.

I read somehwere on this board that texas's whole ST operation took a **** last season. Bad snaps, ****** holds etc. Ultimately Auburn took the fall or legit just bounced to get away from the ****** environ. I haven't fact checked this statement but I hope it is true.

Mario has hinted at it in interviews. He mentioned the snapper and holder.
 
Iā€™m more worried about not having the best 11 on the field because they donā€™t know the play book or havenā€™t matured. Donā€™t want to see Toney sitting while 35 is getting the majority of snaps. Donā€™t want to see Moore needing to mature more vs Marion, CJā€¦ now if they arenā€™t as goodā€¦Iā€™m going to be more concerned with recruiting.

Same is true for DE. We canā€™t keep rolling out 3 5ts and expect to have an elite DL. We need at least one of the speed guys to roll out on passing downs. Let the 5t guys tire out the OT then have the speed guys run past them.
