Even Ferman is taking the gloves off

Some thoughts after reading the article:

- I’m optimistic about the program’s future given the renewed direction and energy.

- It’s ironic that Shalala building the medical school infrastructure provided the needed funds.

- The Administration loathes being publicly embarrassed, which in this case has worked in the football team’s favor. Build a statue to Herbie!

- Ferman’s writing sucks. The guy needs an editor.

Med school/plan fiasco isn't paying for anything... only that it is not bleeding $$ and is paying for its own survival...

I Dont Believe You Will Ferrell GIF

Just get the right AD in here first. Then get the right coach. I don't care if he is coaching D3 right now. Interview guys and don't get sold a bill of goods. Hire a proven developer of talent who does not take crap and teaches sound football. We will get talent its how you develop them that makes a difference.

- Program is a disaster
- Frenk's staffers are making moves
- Seems it hinges in large part on Mas Brothers (of MasTec fame)
- Miami's AD needs to be run as a multi-million $$ operation divorced of academic betas who can't lead their way out of a wet paper bag with hole in it

1. Hope he's right
2. And IF 1, hope Mas faction on BoT wins the day

I'll believe it when I see it.

Perhaps the Mas' are trying to build a sports legacy in SoFL.... hmmmmmm

Played ball with Jose’s son back in the day for a few years. They care about sports, so let’s see.

Not a Ferman fan but gotta admit this was pretty good work. Not sure where he got his info as we’ve already been informed of much of what he wrote right here on CIS.

If nothing else, his article shines a brighter light in the public’s eye. That’s a good thing.
Very True.

This is the best possible situation. What he is saying is what OSU, Clemson and the SEC all have in their favor.

It is also perfectly understandable that they are sitting on coaching moves while they build the proper foundation. Building the proper foundation is very long-term looking out 15-25+ years. Manny is meaningless and yesterday’s news compared to these types of plans.

However, the longer you wait you still risk losing coaching options (unless, of course, you are already locking him down).

Hopefully, they are doing what is sounds like they are doing.

Fernandez' resume:

As Senior Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications and Chief of Staff, Fernandez has been Frenk's most-trusted aide in his time as President. His primary role has been nurturing relationships with federal, state and local government entities and serving as the chief legislative strategist.

Fernandez oversees the Division of University Communications, which stewards the brand and shares stories of the university's impact. He created the Public Affairs division at the University to better coordinate all communication and external relations efforts. As Chief of Staff, Fernandez works with other campus leaders in developing and implementing long-range strategy on behalf of the institution.

Prior to joining the university in 2007 as vice president for government and community relations, Fernandez spent over a decade in Washington, DC. He was Special Assistant to the President in the George W. Bush White House. He also held senior positions in the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Bush-Cheney 2004 Campaign and the Republican National Committee.

What a surprise when there is a “want to”, plan, action, expertise leading the charge and resources invested into something that it is successful.

I’m pro Mario but I agree with getting an AD worth his salt and letting him hire the best coach. No favors, no politicking bs. Hire the right guy.
Im only okay with this if the AD has been told by the folks who have the bag that if Mario makes it clear he wants the gig...search is over. Hes the guy. We cant turn him down a 3rd time. The guy has proven he can, at the very least, get us to the ACC title game every other year if not every year. He has, 2 and about to get 3, PAC 12 titles. He doesnt need to prove anything more to the administration and this fanbase. I dont want them to overthink this is all im saying.

We have a ways to go before competing for the playoffs, but with the right coach and staff winning the coastal is really not that far away.

I could rattle off all the turn around jobs this year, but we all know it

You could make the argument that we would be competing for the college playoffs this season if we had the right coach and staff. The ACC was/is there for the taking and we totally blew it.

Others that have more current info can chime in, but the U Health purchase was virulently opposed by a number of fiscally responsible BOT's and was indeed a disaster early on. Norman Braman, who is as smart an individual as one can find, even resigned from the BOT. Perhaps donations and covid funding has turned that operation around, but I truly find it impossible to believe that is the reason we suddenly have bitcoin to properly run an athletic operation.
