Enjoy Coach Lashlee While We Have Him

A first time head coach +the toughest division in CFB is not ideal.

Personally, I think he's here next year barring a dream offer. I think a lot of coaches will be reluctant to move because of the pandemic, particularly those like Lashlee with small kids. Uprooting his family a second time in two years can't sound too appealing to that family.
Hope you're right. I think if Lashlee is back, it increases our chances of having King back as well.

while i'm super excited about our offense, we haven't set the world on fire by any stretch of the imagination ... i think he stays and parlays this to a better gig than what's out there

He would fit in at places like Western Michigan, Appalachian State or Liberty University which are stepping stones for HCs

As fans we look at the job as a terrible one because of their past performances, the conference they're in, and the numerous number of coaches who have failed there before. But coaches just want an opportunity to prove themselves. If you believe in your ability to coach a team to success then you don't care where you land, you just need the opportunity.

Like you said, if a coach can succeed at a school like Vanderbilt then they can expect a big time job offer from a blue blood program to be headed their way.

I mean, the expectations are literally zero at Vandy. From the school and the conference. If you can piece together a decent year or two, you can get a ton of dough from someone who does pour resources into the program and expects to win. Aka, pays top dollar for their coaches.

I have absolutely zero idea if Lashlee will be considered or even get an interview. But if he’s offered that job you can bet your *** he’s signing it before it’s done being pushed across the desk, as he should.

Good chance he won't be with us much longer.

Expect his name to pop up more and more as more coaching vacancies come about. I think the one place to keep a good eye on is Liberty, especially if coach Freeze does get another chance in the SEC.
Perfect i live near nashville and can go watch if it came true

The name being linked to Vandy right now is Clark Lea (DC at ND and Vandy alum). With that said, Mason was a defensive coach so it's possible Vandy's preference is an offensive mind with this hire, so I can see the reasoning with pursuing someone like Lashlee.

I can see both sides of Lashlee wanting to/not wanting to leave. King is likely gone so unless TVD is the real deal or we bring in a transfer QB, our offense will probably take a step back next season.

You're making too much sense for the Canesinsight board bro. Slow down. Lol

Yes, we know.
How about enjoying 2020 season instead of reacting to baseless articles on him leaving?

So you think Vandy would offer Lashlee over Coastal Carolina's Jamey Chadwell, Buffalo's Lance Leipold, what about Notre Dame's Defensive Coord who went to Vandy? Also, there is Tulsa's Philip Montgomery who's nearing the end of his contract.

Bruce Feldman weighs in:

Miami’s Rhett Lashlee is the one college offensive coordinator who figures to get the most attention here for this one. The 37-year-old has done a superb job at Miami, turning around what was a dud of an offense. Miami has gone from No. 13 in the ACC in Red Zone offense to No. 2. Lashlee knows the SEC well. He played QB at Arkansas and spent a bunch of time on the Auburn staff.

"If you click on who Bruce Feldman actually is you would know its just an internet nobody wanting clicks!"

going to vandy would not be very smart

People were saying this about Manny. Now, yes, eventually he got a HC gig at a MAC school. However, in year 1 at Miami? No. At a Power 5 program? **** no.

Vandy is going to get a coach with more Power 5 assistant or HC experience than Lashlee.

We should retain Lashlee if possible, but we could also find another coach with the same philosophy if need be.
