KillaStore - Agreed to an extent, but we had the same situation with Kayaa, and a lot of the players wanted Williams to start when he returned from injury last year, but Golden went with favoritism and the development rather than who gives you the best shot to win. Created even more hostility in the locker room. By all means, I hope the same thing happens to you Gata and the team falls apart because of stupid decisions like this, but you have to go with the best QB at the time, not think about growth if you're gonna lose.
So you really think Williams should have started over Kaaya? I would have made the same move. Matter of fact I would only see it as favoritism if you pick the player because he has been there, and other players like him. Kaaya clearly was the better QB and I'm pretty sure Coley made the decision on starting Q not Al. Either way Kaaya definitely gave us a better shot to win. It's just hard for anybody to win games when you have Coley calling plays, and No'D on the other side not helping your cause. Then you got Alf telling everybody at half time not to rise to the occasion. Lmao what a joke.
Like really though, how did we end up with a staff that probably couldn't even have success at the HS level...
If he's smart, he would go to Florida.
Grier is a tough guy, and he was developing nicely before he got pinched for being a juice head. Grier would eat this guy's lunch if he prances in there with that "I need to be the only QB on the roster" **** attitude.

Grier lost to Treon Harris his freshman year.

What happened this year under a coach who knows good offense?
Thanks, Big O. THose numbers are pedestrian too. I was hoping the junior numbers I mentioned were an aberration, but it looks like the senior numbers are nothing to write home about either.
I was one of the only guys on here who was critical of Olsen before he got here, and a big part of that was based on the fact that he didn't dominate HS competition. Guys lambasted me for being critical of Olsen, but, as it turned out, his game had massive holes in it.
You don't have to be a 50 TD guy in HS to be a great college QB, but I always look for QBs that dominate their competition and are very accurate passers with excellent TD/INT ratios. Accuracy is a pretty tough thing to improve, and accuracy is the number 1 thing you should look for in a QB assuming he has a good enough arm to compete at this level. You don't usually see inaccurate QBs get appreciably more accurate.
Off the top of my head: Jeff Driskel, Kevin Olsen, Gray Crow....all QB's who did nothing in High school and went on to do nothing in college.
The lack of production in HS from a QB is a HUGE Red Flag.
Yep. Driskel had something like 1600 yards passing in HS and was still somehow rated a 5-star. I remember watching one of his junior highlights and seeing like 10 throws on the entire clip, it was completely baffling he was rated high. You guys have to remember that a lot of these QB's get their ranking off of physical stature and arm strength.
Driskel attended Paul J. Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida. During his career he threw for 4,844 yards and 36 touchdowns.

The thing that really helps 2016 is the early commitment of QB Jack Allison. QB's usually stick and with him in the bag, the skill guys are gonna wanna play with him. Now if we can get Gibson somehow this year then this class might get decent. Irvin and Johnson I think are coming but ya never know.
Scarlett is coming. If Walton stays in the '16 class then I think we can keep Williams, Cronkite, and Scarlett with Williams being an athlete playing reciever and running back. Cronkite only wants two running backs in this class so it's important that Walton maybe stays in his class. Williams seems to be on board with the athlete role.

Now if this ************ would fix the god **** defense, we might be able to recruit DT's

Agree on the staff part....dog **** through and through, but that also shows how they didn't look at the locker room. If the freshman gives you the best chance to win, then sure, play him by all means. We had a locker room that was pretty torn apart and a bunch of the players, it's been shown, were lobbying for Williams to at least have a shot to start when healthy. Maybe it would've helped, maybe not. All I know is we lost our last 4 games, could he have done any worse than that? I believe a person can develop without game experience.
When it comes to favoritism...going on your belief that Coley made the decision...you don't think it's showing favoritism to the hotshot freshman Coley recruited and not to the guy he didn't have a hand in bringing in as a transfer? I agree with Coley blowing **** in everything including play calling and of course D'ono's reputation precedes him, but maybe we don't have the rest of the team lying down to die willingly at the end of the season if the guy the team saw as the leader was given a shot. Which, going back to U***, who knows if the same thing happens to them next year with Eason and Grier. I don't know about you, but I hope so and I'd love to see them go 6-7 just like we did.
Was told by one person that Eason had UF admission papers on his flight back from UF.

I should have clarified. Wasn't trying to imply he threw for 1,600 in his career, that's what he did in one of his seasons. Junior year if I recall.

Threw for 1427 yards his JR year, 11 TDs, 6 INTs
According to MaxPreps, Driskels career stats:
27 games, 3768 yards (139 ypg), 53% completion, 31 TDs, 13 INTs.
He was a product of the summer circuit. There was no reason he should have been a 5*
