Not being 'that guy' (I'm not someone that lifts weights at a gym, I have a sandbag and a kettlebell for that) but aren't they really strict about what counts as a rep at the Combine?

I'm not arguing that he's weak, just I'd take those numbers with a grain of salt.

It was already touched on in the thread but doing that weight and reps with that wingspan, at that age…it makes you shake your head

I’ve been a bit hesitant to permanent marker him in to the starter here, but it seems inevitable. I didn’t see anything from his senior year though

This is partly true; however, in this case he has functional strength and technical strength. Furthermore, it is unusual for any of the very top performers in the bench to not have functional explosive strength as well.

True, but shot put is a pretty good indicator and Cantwell excels at that.

I would also add that "explosive strength" is no guarantee the kid has the skills to actually play the position. But I think Cantwell does and whatever he lacks, he has the best guys in the business teaching him In Cristobal and Mirabal.
