From Rivals:

DT David Ryslik from Highstown NJ The Peddie School says the UM is making a presence in his area, He says he knows a lot of guys from NJ go to Miami and Miami recruits hard in NJ.

UM is recruiting him as well, he has talked to coaches, talked to Coach Brown and Kehoe. They tell him they like his size and how he plays. They want him to visit. He is working on setting up a date to visit. Ryslik says his fafter lives in Miami Gardens area, know he will be coming down.

His lone offer is Duke but other school recruiting him hard are UM, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Maryland and BC.

He says everyone he talks to is under consideration. No team stands out more than the other. Of Miami, he says it's Miami. It's the U. They always have that little bit of leverage because of that."

He was asked if he was a Canes fan of that comment, "Obviously. It's one of those teams that before you know football, you know Miami."I love the tradition there. It's next to none. With me, when I think of Miami, I think down, dirty, aggressive football, trench fighting, really competitive stuff."

Of UM offering, he says, any offer from a college is crazy, but it’s Miami you grow up watching no matter what.

Ryslik wants to make a decision by mid-season, does want to sign on NSD

Last season he finished with 65 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 pass deflections and a fumble recovery in 8 games.

He will most likely have to earn an offer at AL Goldens camp this spring, he also has an offer from Temple. Otherwise I think there are better options out there, but I like the idea of lining up plan C kids. He seems to have potential as a gym rat that can develop into a blue collar type player.

As a sophomore he had a 325-pound bench press, 400-pound squat, 430-pound deadlift and a 4.9-second 40-yard dash.

So as a Senior those numbers should be significantly higher. Ryslik recorded a SPARQ Rating of 77.79 ( which is about the national Avg for 2015 DE's at this point in the testing season) at the New Jersey Nike Football SPARQ Combine on February 1, 2014.

He ran a 5.34 sec 40yd time ( rates avg for a DT),
20yd shuttle 5.15 sec ( rates avg for a DT),
Vertical Jump 21.8 in (rates avg for a DT),
Power throw 41 ft ( rates as excellent ).

So the testing illustrates a powerful run stopper that should have average mobility inside the 15 yd tackle box.

This is the type of 3* kid you recruit through an prolonged evaluation an stick in a S&C program with a red shirt year along with early enrollment then poof in 2016 you have a R-Fr Nose Tackle that can play the 2 Gap and will play within the scheme.

To this point he reminds me of a poor man's Beau Allen the NT from Wisconsin, who is Projected as 8th best NT in the 2014 draft.

Bama loves to take big bodied under the radar types like Ryslik that have excellent strength and are just happy to play the game rather than chase big stats, Ryslik also brings intelligence to table as well ( evidenced by hs Duke offer).

HIS FILM LOOKS GOOD...SNATCH HIM UP BEOFRE THE BIG DOGS COME SNIFFIN ROUND....(Bama) this kid can play....seems to be a legit 6'2 280+....

Kids like this have no issues with redshirting and that is what we need for vertical depth.

I'm so sick of being happy with these projects aka jags chickillo etc etc where's our Nix or Cody or Goldman suh............ were getting salami Hamilton or chick so slow. ............i give up

Terrance Cody was a 3* JUCO whose only offer was Bama. Bama took him as a project
http://www.rolltide.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/cody_terrence00.html

Next Bama brought in Jesse Williams as a JUCO, his only offer in high school was Hawaii.
http://www.rolltide.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/williams_jesse00.html

Then they brought in no star Brandon Ivory from Memphis, TN whose only offer was U of Memphis. Oh an he begged for a Miami offer.
http://www.rolltide.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/brandon_ivory_713414.html

An then they brought in my favorite Darren Lake who Nick Saban offered peronnelly at the camp. Saban told him to kick the crap out of some 5* OL they had at the camp from Louisiana and if Lake could beat him all camp he would have an offer. Well that unheard of small town country boy proceeded to open a huge can of pig feet whoop *** on the Louisiana kid to the point he quit the camp. Oh yeah an lakes only other offer was Miss St.

So there is nothing wrong with taking projects if you have the eye and can develop them.

An Bama's latest project for the 2014 they offered before anyone else and saban recruited him personally. Are see the trend here with Saban hand picking his NT's. Keep in mind this guy was a No Star when bama found him Louisiana, right under LSU's nose, but he also doesn't fit LSU's scheme. So at the end of the day it takes a special eye to find war daddy type NT's or you need to find projects that can be developed over time.

I'll just repeat what I've said a bunch of times: Bob Karmelowicz, who was one of the better DL coaches in the U's history told me, just find me guys 6'1-6'3", 280-300, we'll make them into football players.

He wasn't obsessed with stars.

He was a very good coach--spent many years in the NFL until his untimely death a few years ago. He also coached the Tez to his outstanding senior year, and coached the great group we had in '89: Tez, Russ Maryland, Jimmie Jones, Willis Peguese, Shane Curry, Greg Mark.

It's not impossible to coach a lump of coal into a sparkling diamond.

I don't think it's impossible to turn a 2 or 3 star DT into a good player. I think the bigger concern is Franklin's ability, or lack thereof, to coach our DL up.

He's had lineman go to the NFL and make an impact.............. problem is if a scheme doesnt let players play to succeed they wont and the position coach will look worse

I would be much more concerned with the talent level of the DT's and the scheme then Jethro's coaching. Miami is not winning the championship with a roster full of Ryan Fines and David Ryslik at DT.
