DONT KILL THE MESSENGER

I they thought Dan Mullen was arrogant, wait'll they get a load of Hubert. Oowee.

I'm all for arrogant, but the dude does not look arrogant. If he lets his players play with that chip on their shoulder and doesn't muszzle them, I think we will solve a few problems with that change alone.

I thought we were on the same team? Sometimes I type too fast on my phone.

The schit is still funny!

Two reasons I cant believe this and two reasons only. Flake James said Al will get things fixed and when is the last time our administration did anything proactive such as look into hiring a guy with a decent track record 4 games into the season. I dont buy it at all.

I love the knee jerk reaction by many of you in this thread. You're killing Jackson as a prospect yet most of you have no clue what he has done.

He's never coordinated nor HC'd a good team in his whole career.

And the corching tree he comes from is nothing but SCHIT!

What the fvck else is there to know?

Only on CiS can a mediocre OC, who hasn't been in college in 15 years become a home run hire

I heard today from a reliable person in the know that they wanted to make the move this weekend but once again, the buyout is a huge obstacle. It probably won't happen till the end of the season.

They also told me the top candidate is... Hue Jackson. Offensive Coordinator of the Bengals.
I'm honestly not sure what to make of it, if that is in fact the move.

Okay after doing some research, I'd put HUE JACKSON on the list. Not at the top, but definitely ahead of guys like C.H.U.D. or Schiano.

Based on everything I've read, he's a well-respected offensive mind.

I thought this was pretty interesting:

"When you think about all the moves I've made in my career, I was always putting myself in position to become a play caller," said Jackson, who also coached for 14 years in college.

"Everybody talks about my time with Steve Spurrier [as offensive coordinator with the Redskins in 2003]. Well, I wasn't the play caller with Steve Spurrier. I wasn't the play caller for Bobby Petrino [as offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons in 2007]. That's what people don't really understand. You don't get those opportunities in the National Football League until you've coached a quarterback. And the only guy who allowed me to do that in the beginning was John Harbaugh."

Given the freedom to discover, draft and develop the quarterback of his choice, Jackson helped guide Joe Flacco to two of the best seasons to start a career in NFL history: a combined 6,584 yards, 35 touchdown passes, back-to-back playoff appearances and three postseason victories.

*****

Jackson wants the offense to be a reflection of himself — physical, bold, energetic, loud.

"He wants to get the play in quick so he can start trash-talking the defense," Dalton said. "The rest of it is on me. Obviously, he was with the offense last year, so we already had a relationship. But just the amount of support and the trust I get, and knowing that I'm his guy and that I'm going to be running everything, is great."

Jackson said he knows he isn't going to transform the more laid-back Dalton into a clone of himself, but he already has seen a change in their few months together.

"I don't expect him to be me any more than the other way around," Jackson said. "My energy, my exuberance, my passion is a good thing. His poise and the way he's so unflappable is a good thing. I think we can play off each other.

"But there's a time I'm going to need him to demonstrate that fire. The team's only going to go where the quarterback goes. This is his football team, and it's time for him to step forward and take responsibility."

That first big step will be today in Baltimore for the season opener. It will mark a new beginning for Dalton and the rest of the Cincinnati offense, but for Jackson, it will be more than that.

"It's always special when I go back to Baltimore, because I think it's one of the better organizations in football, top to bottom," Jackson said. "From Steve Bisciotti, there are some unbelievable people there, and this business is about people.

"I would not be sitting where I am today if it wasn't for John Harbaugh. John gave me his quarterback. People don't do that. They don't say you come help us draft a quarterback and coach this guy. What he did, to me, broke the mold of what was really happening in the National Football League. So I will always be indebted to him for that."

Cincinnati Bengals turn to Hue Jackson to energize the offense - Baltimore Sun

IMO that's telling that John Harbaugh would basically entrust him to PICK and DEVELOP a quarterback. That's huge responsibility.

His first chance to really call plays in the NFL was with the Raiders, and their offense improved considerably; the Raiders offense improved from 31st (2009) to 10th (2010) in yards per game and from 12.3 points per game to 25.6 points per game. And that was with Jason Campbell at QB.

I also think college kids would love him:

Now I have no idea how he would adapt to being a head coach in college (my main issue would be the limited practice time and dealing with all the extracurricular bull****), but he's coached in college before so it wouldn't be a foreign concept. Plus he has a ton of coaching relationships, so he'd be able to put together a legit staff. No more James Coley/Mark D'Onofrio/Paul Williams bull****.

Overall he seems like an energetic guy who knows X's & O's and wants to have a physical, energetic team. I think he's a good fit.

Which is why it won't happen, especially if the Bengals' success on offense continues.

before we start seeing the "gruden to miami, players notified threads", can we create a sticky with the name of each poster who says they have an insider, the name of the coach to be hired and the date of the post? that way we can keep track of the rumors and see who is credible?

for example,

wherrera8 - Hue Jackson - Oct 5 2015

this **** gets real tiring real fast and we have not even played 5 games. de pynga.

OrangetieFatface - Vance Lomardo Oct 5 2015

cribby - Hue Jackson Oct 5 2015

Kyle liburd - Hue Jackson Oct 5 2015

Add me to the list:

Dude has a temper and is a **** of a motivator.

He's also not a smooth talker like Fraulden. He might get a penalty or two for spitting on the refs when he loses it.

Maybe we can finally go all black unis to match our coach.

NO WAY IN **** is Hue Jackson coming here. He's all NFL. He's been waiting for an NFL gig for a minute. His name is always thrown out for NFL positions. We ain't his alma mater so therefore he's not going to just give us love. He's all NFL...I repeat, ALL NFL.

Let's say he is the leading candidate and gets the job, first chance at an NFL gig he will bolt, and we are back at square one.

And the reason he would get that job is because he had success at Miami. Isn't this what we want? Our coaches to be wanted at the pro-level?

Just worry about the now.

Conman, it isn't accurate to assume that he would have to be successful in order to receive an NFL coaching job. Bill O'Brian went a mediocre 8-4 and 7-5 at PSU and left after 2 years for the NFL.

Looking at Hue's career he is a serial job hopper. The longest he has stayed at any of his coaching jobs is 2 years. So the chances of him leaving if he gets called to the NFL would be high if we are judge him by his career pattern.

Dude would kill it. He's a straight up G. They'd stop calling bullshyt penalties on us just to avoid getting doused in saliva.

When Hue Jackson was coach of the Raiders I really liked him. Except for when he became GM after Al Davis suddenly died, and started being an idiot. But as far as coaching goes, I like him, and thin he runs a good offense.
He knows how to get the most out of his talent, and adjusts his gameplan accordingly. He loves to run the ball though, which I am fine with.
He's done a pretty good job this year with Average Andy. The only problem with him I have will be his recruiting. But ****, If he could hire the right people that wont even be an issue. I'd much rather have a guy that can coach rather than a guy who is just a master recruiter like Kiffen, Cristobal, etc.

Hue Jackson would rank near the top of potential hires for me, right along side Chud and Chip kelly. I don't think Hue Jackson would take this job though. He is on pace to be an NFL HC soon. After working his way up to being the HC of the Raiders he started as the DB or LB coach of the Bengals and has worked his way to being the OC in like 4 years.

He has a horrible resume. He's bounced around the NFL for 15 years and has had 4 good games as an OC and people are popping boners.

He's never been an OC in the pros for longer than a couple of seasons and he's yo-yo'd from coordinator to position coach. He also couldn't hold Norm Chow's jock at USC.

If we want an NFL OC that's young and had a small taste of HC experience, give me Josh McDaniels.

I would love McDaniels.

Don't think he would leave NE though. He's in a great situation there and would likely have his pick of NFL HC jobs if he were to leave.

I like it. NFL guy that can coach the kids up. He's from Cali so (maybe) that will open up California recruiting wise... Former USC OC

True that, and he'll have Donald run the defense running EXTREMELY complex designs and every time a kid don't "understand" him, he blows a fuse immediately on the side line. That's the kind of fire we need here!

No to Hue but yes to Mcdaniels ? Seriously ?

Dude was an absolute abortion in Denver. He's the dumb *** that put his HC career in Tim Tebows hands, he's clearly not the smartest ****.

I mean Bozo the clown could be the OC in NE, every OC there looks like a gawd , remember Charlie Weiss?

When you have arguably the greatest qb ever you tend to look pretty decent as a play caller.

Willie, D Money or Cribby, do your guys have enough juice to suggest other candidates for potential interview? For example, could your guys mention Tom Herman or Justin Fuente or any of the other candidates that we've been discussing and actually have them be considered? Or is it a pipe dream on our part that these guys could be in contention unless they are identified by the BOT/athletics department?

Pretty clear that a lot of guys knocking Jackson don't watch much NFL. I get it, better to say "no" to an unknown.

But it's hilarious to read the post knocking Jackson from guys who support hiring Mario Cristobal, Mark Stoops, Josh McDaniels, Greg Schiano, Rob Chudzinski, or Tom Herman.

None of those guys has anything over Jackson, except a more recognizable name to some of y'all. Lol

But what's most ironic ... Since Schiano and Stoops get so much credit for it ... Is if you change the school Jackson coached from from USC to Miami, many of the same guys knocking him would be on his jock! "Miami ties, Bro"!

Some folks want Winston Moss to be the HC ... Winston Moss would be a legit candidate, but Hue Jackson would be cause to "shut down the program"? Lol

Yeah ... Some things only happen on message boards. In real life, none of y'all would be dumb enough to publicly ague against hiring the guy who's running the best offense in the NFL ...
