Does Culture Flowe from Geography?

Geographic = transportation and economic connections, so yeah we got to consider where we're practically connected too by planes, trains and automobiles. Ours aren't to Deep South nor the Piedmont. You're struggling with the fact that we're physically south, but we're so far physically south that we are no longer Southern.

When you're ready to think beyond hur dur we're far south therefore must be Southern, I'll still be here as right as ever.

;)

"So far south that we are not southern".

That's the end of your credibility on the subject.

Man, if you're so dense that you can't understand how being far away from a region means you're not a part of it, I'm not sure what to tell you. We're functionally part of a different economic region, anyone that's sourced goods or sold product out of here knows that. We have regional offices for all manor of businesses and governments, and they very rarely set up here to service the "South", instead setting those offices in cities that are actually in the South (Jacksonville, Altanta, Charlotte, New Orleans etc..).

I'd think you're being intentionally obtuse, but maybe your economic acumen is that low.

Look, ignoring the fact that you don't understand the difference between "manor" and "manner" (and don't try to claim that it was a "typo"), you are in no position to question my intelligence or acumen. "Regions", for business purposes, are set up for a wide variety of reasons, including WATER. And "economic" was never a part of the original conversation, that is something you are shoe-horning in here belatedly, to try to defend your increasingly bizarre arguments.

Geography. That's it. People live in the south. Some parts of the south are closer to other parts of the south. Some parts are farther away. It's still a geographic area that is a part of the United States. It has NOTHING to do with whether you are 90 miles away from Cuba or any other ridiculous economic argument that you are trying to use to salvage your original ridiculously illogical hot-take.

Seriously. Stop acting like you are the Assistant TO THE Regional Manager, Dwight. You are wrong. Dead-a$$ wrong. Stop using "regional offices" to rationalize your ignorance on actual cartography and geography.

So just to be clear, you have no economic or business basis for this and admit that we're actually closer to a lot of other areas if we include this thing called "water". However, since on a map of the continental US there isn't another region to associate us with, we have to go with the area a days truck haul away?

You keep digging this hole though, haha. I don't need the validation, just having fun playing your terrible argument out.

"A day's truck haul"? That's the entire basis for your retarded logic? Last time I checked, this was a sports board, dealing with college athletics. You know, where there are conferences, based on US geography (except for the moronic Big 12). And this is about the opinions of 18-year old recruits, who might choose to play "in the east" (oh my God, how can you put Notre Dame in the ACC?) or "in the south" (hey, did you know that Mizzou isn't in the south?) or "on the west coast" (wow, Colorado isn't on the west coast!).

This IS NOT a "business and economics" board where we talk about the best places to locate regional distribution centers.

Seriously, you turn yourself into a bigger buffoon with every post.

If by Southern you mean South America...... Ok, I agree with you. Miami has more in common with Rio or Buenos Aires than Oxford, MI.

Yes, Miami is the most Southern city in terms of Geography, but it has ZERO in common with the Southern United States. When is the last time you saw a "cafe con leche", "lechon", "croqueta" or "pastel de guayaba" on sale in the ENTIRE Southern United States (let alone in one of its cities)?

MODs, can you please open a new board for geography for summers? Happens every year during these dog days people start arguing over geography. Just waiting for someone to live stream a road trip at this point.

We have no better measure of geographic regions than how market forces move goods and people in and out of a given area. We effectively don't interact with the part of the country considered "the South". Florida, and south Florida in particular, has always been considered something else. If anything our region is "the Caribbean", but certainly not the traditional American South.

I find your conference argument quaint since it agrees with me, putting us clearly in the East with a schedule that barely touches the traditional south.

You're making a strong case for "dumbest poster on CIS". It doesn't hurt that you are citing Bugs Bunny for support of your argument.

Oh, and the "Florida doesn't interact with the South" is hilarious.

I won the Geography Bee in 4th and 5th grade!

3rd grade and 5th grade Geography Bee Champion here. I know what you're thinking, but I missed the semi finals and took an aggressive DQ from my cvnt of a teacher 4th grade year because of a broken foot.

Any way, there can be only one! The capital of North Dakota is Bismarck. Consider yourself on the clock.

If you use Google, God and Santa Claus will both know and judge you accordingly.

I just wasted 5 minutes checking in on this thread. There’s nothing new since page 3ish.
I’m out for tonight. Strolling into the casino Monte Carlo acting like I’m 007 and own that ****. Wish me luck on the craps table. Never mind, you know I’m slapping some rich dudes girl on the *** before I throw anyway. How about some Flowe updates for real?
