Does anyone else find it odd...

What are the players supposed to say. Bash him on Twitter? I’m also sure the coaches told the players not to do that.
No one knows what the players were telling him before he left. Unless you do. But I think your post was referring to the comments made by the players after the fact. No?
I didn’t say teammates should bash him. I’m suggesting they should’ve encouraged him to return.

Yes tho, im referring to the players reaction while he was awol and after.

I don’t think it’s odd because I don’t think it’s a s sinister on either side as people are making it out to be. Bottom line I think the kid just misses home. He has a kid if I’m not mistaken. If he really just wants to be closer to home for family reasons I would expect his teammates to understand that and support him to some degree. Especially the ones who aren’t from here. The issue is about how he handled it, but people are confusing that with the root cause of why. A more mature kid with less baggage handles it better but the result is the same ... he goes home where he clearly wants to be.
Kids fragile... no doubt about that. And I’m not talking about why he did what he did. I’m just suggesting that his teammates seemed pretty good with his departure.

If JT is homesick, that’s even more reason for his boys to reach out to him to stay.

His high school team have to take a vote to let him back on the team cause he bailed on them:

“Absent from a string of practices, Thomas is held out of a game and must eventually win over his teammates, who voted whether he should keep his roster spot,” Dan Greene wrote for SI in 2017 ahead of the documentary’s premiere on Fox. “His coaches confide that their star is hard to reach, often hidden behind walls he’s built to protect himself from a harsh environment.”

It is possible that Richt is responsible for some of the problems here but not every single one of them.

I agree. There seems to be some kind of disconnect between the players responses and the management's declaration that proper "standards" have to be upheld. If it's standards, what's homesick got to do with it?

It was widely reported weeks ago that he was in several shouting matches with his position coach. If they were shouting about him missing home, then you have a point! But i have a hunch that that was not the case.

This is another guy that never should have been a starter! There are 5 WRs that preformed better then him and yet Richt felt the need to make him a starting WR! The nonsense is just unbelievable on this team right now!!

Cager would make former wrestler "Hand of Stone" Ronnie Garvin so proud

I’m not looking to lay blame With this thread...

So based on that quote, it’s entirely possible JTs teammates were supportive of his leaving because they’re sick of his Shlt, and want him gone.

I’m guessing maybe they did and that’s why he didn’t leave this summer.
Who knows?

My point was that missing home means he didn’t want to be here and not wanting to be here effected his behavior thus the shouting matches.
Anyone who thinks this is just about touches and the offense is not really seeing the whole picture. The stuff he did was just a symptom of the bigger issue .... he wanted to go home

I just can’t see him making such an obviously dumb move because he’s homesick.

He’s not gonna play in the season prior to becoming draft eligible... that’s a pretty big deal for a kid whose family’s future depends on that draft.

That JTs teammates were so supportive of his decision to walk away? I say this based on teammates’ tweets posted here.

Shouldn’t his teammates have encouraged him to get his **** together and return to practice? Does it say Anythjng about the team that they were fine with him walking out?

My concern is that his teammates didn’t have a problem with him leaving, because they don’t blame him for doing so, and maybe want to themselves.

Could the atmosphere be so toxic that these guys don’t wanna be there?
Who cares

There was a documentary on JT and his dealing with a difficult up bring and the way it went really put the kid in a positive light for fighting through his trails. You may find someone that has something negative say abut anyone of us but it should not paint an entire picture of his past. I'm not buying that his teammates are upset with him and want him gone. Richt can't deal with what he has control over, and that's the offense!! It is no coincidence that the offense is in so much turmoil!! The fish stinks from the head down!!

This is what you get when you have a guy in charge who is stubborn in his ways and refuses to budge on anything. The "my way or the highway" crap only works when you are Nick Saban.
Oh Saban changes. Thing is, when he changes he does it in a way that makes it look like he's in complete control, which he is. He changes things BEFORE they get bad. Richt digs his heels in and refuses to make changes.

Let's just wish the best for jt4, the man made a decision, coach richt and the other coaches are not gone budge on. So we are where we are at, this is what happens when you got alot of young guys and no real leadership on offense besides the coaches. Just go back to what gauthier said about "guys being to sensitive to the coaching". Again, randy moss got dismissed from Fsu and they still won a national title, so while jeff thomas is a nice weapon to have, he doesnt understand the whole game of football just yet, its not about you always getting the ball, its about you consistently playing your position properly and at a high level no matter who or what the qb is doing!.

Football is always going to be a "next man up" mentality type of game, no one player with the exception of qb, can hold a team hostage, but even than, they'll just work around the qb to as well. The players on this team who are committed to being Great at UM not gone respect the guys but so much who want to roll out, especially the defensive players. The young receivers think just because they making a few plays in practice every now and than that they should be a starter. At UM it aint about hating on the next man in front of you, its about everybody worjing their hardest to get each other better, and may the best man win. To many haters on offense, and once Ahmon went down, alot of the young guns felt like they were entitled to that spot.

Again to all the young wanna be know it all offensive players, learn the playbook, learn your routes and than learn how to run those routes properly, be consistent and you'll be in the mix before you know it, cry babies go home!

Absolutely not. If you’ve ever played sports at any level higher than high school you understand. That’s their boy. You’re around eachother almost 24/7. People leave for whatever reason but no matter what happens you’re friends for life

Can’t disagree.

There’s no leadership by the coaches either. If there was, this situation wouldn’t have festered to the point it’s at.

Point well taken! Lets see what comes out from this for sure!
