You said Cam lost us games last year and Beck would be a much better QB for us because he makes quick decisions and wouldn’t turn the ball over or get us into as many 3rd and longs.

If Cam Ward was our QB this year we’d be undefeated and the heavy favorites to win the natty.

OP, if the right guy is there, he'd make the team better in theory, and you've got the money then the answer is yes.

The only ones that can answer the better part are those who see the players daily. At some point though we've gotta use a QB we recruited or we'll be known as a place not to go for the position.
 
What more will you get out of a QB you recruited out of high school versus a portal QB? I don’t see the advantage of a high school QB when there are better options available via the portal.

No but I personally think he didn’t have much respect for Louisville .. dude was chucking up deep bombs when he had guys clearly open underneath, I expect he’ll reign in the deep ball hunting moving forward. For all the talk of him taking the checkdowns that Ward didn’t want to Friday proved that narrative to be kinda cap ..

Stockton is an example. He redshirted then sat behind Beck while he developed. He’s now starting year 4. Miami fans expect guys to come in as freshman and take over the position.

It’s not ignoring Nickel to recognize that as a freshman he might not be a playoff QB

Beck had a bad game, I’m not denying that but so did Cam against Georgia Tech last year and that’s a fact. Had he taken the check down in that game, we would’ve won that game and probably went to the playoffs that year and had a chance at the national championship. Those are facts. You know it’s OK to state when Cam had a bad game, it’s OK to do that when it’s the truth. And Georgia Tech last year was a bad game by him.

I don’t like the idea that a seasoned transfer is the answer every year. Seems to be where the fan base is going. The leader of the team should be a guy that earns his way into that position and isn’t just handed it. I still think our next NC is with Nickel behind center. This year has been a nice surprise so far. My $0.02.

@DMoney, I appreciate you and Pete getting around to covering Sorsby. He's been my guy for weeks now, if he doesn't enter the draft. I am always looking, but I am confident he is my QB transfer choice if he doesn't declare. I really like what you guys are doing with Group Chat Sports. I try to give everything a like and view. Trying to help, man. Good stuff!

Yep, Sorsby is a stud but he feels like an NFL Draft guy to me. It's a wide open class and some of the better guys (Moore, Simpson) can use more reps.

I think we will definitely take a portal QB … Not sure if it will be a starter or backup. All depends on Nickle's development.

Simpson is already an older player and having a great efficient season. I think he declares along with Mendoza. Mateer I think could definitely declare because he’d have good chance of being a 1st rounder as the guy with the likely highest ceiling in the group.

I think Sorsby returns as he’d be a top portal player whereas his NFL potential after this season is probably like 3rd-4th round at absolute best. Dante Moore I believe returns for sure. Sellers is having a mediocre season and needs more experience so he should return. Maiava will return as well.


I agree that Sorsby PROBABLY should be our top priority in the portal as long as we are going for a 1yr guy
