Dmoney explain yourself

But if you grow up in South or Central Florida, you have a very good chance of rooting for Miami well before you choose an institute of higher education.

I only know about North Florida

1. UF

2. FSU

"It Just Means More" fandom falls somewhere between a fraternity and a suicide cult. If the Noles catch a hot streak once they join the SEC, they'll close the ground or even overtake the Gators what with all the bandwagon fans up here

3/4. Alabama then Georgia or Georgia then Alabama -- whoever's doing better

5. Auburn

6/7. Canes and LSU -- A good many Tigahs over by Pensacola, especially when they got it going

Central Gulf coast and Space coast of FL were and are infested with Noles and Gators

Yeah, infested seems like the appropriate word for any place crawling with fans of the Noles and Gators.

I haven't spent a lot of time in Central Florida, but it seemed like there were a lot of UF fans in the Orlando area and a lot of FSU fans in the Tampa area. Don't know if that perception is accurate or not 🤷‍♀️

Not that anyone asked but...

Family moved to Florida when I was around 4 years old. Grew up watching the Dolphins and the Hurricanes, never waivered.

Went to UCF in the early 2000's, was dragged to one UCF game in the Citrus Bowl vs Marshall (got to see Byron Leftwich).
While there, never game a **** about UCF football and that's still true. Saturdays were spent watching Miami games. Wore Miami tshirts to class all the time.

When it's FSU vs UF, who do I root for? Neither. It's more like "Who do I want to lose more?"
And if one team beating another team will help Miami's ranking, strength of schedule etc.. then I hope for that outcome.

But when they play each other, I mainly just want the stadium to collapse.

UF is ranked 7th in the country for public universities. If you're not insane, it's a pretty easy decision if they hand you a scholarship.

Are you familar with the incurable disease known as Insufferable Gator Disorder?

Got a state scholarship to Florida. Hated the Gators the whole time and never missed a home game in the OB. And this was 03-07, so it was a tough time for the good guys.
Same here. I got paid to go to UF. Was getting a ton of money between scholarships to go to Florida. I hate the Gators but couldn’t pass up what they offered. And like DMoney I flew home for the games. I went 98-02 and at that time Miami as an undergraduate school was just ok and for the price it just didn’t make sense. Today it’s one of the hottest schools and companies are recruiting like mad there. Not the case back then.

I did graduate from Miami for my masters in accounting and law degree though.

It's a fair point.

If you grow up in Hogtown or Talla****inghassee, or your parents are alums, then you might root for UF/F$U before you go there.

So many of us grew up going to UM games before even thinking about enrolling in a college. My mother informed me of the harsh reality that UM was out of our family’s budget when I was still a kid and that her Florida prepaid money would be going to one of our fine state schools. I ended up at UCF where it was common to see people on campus with Miami, UF or FSU gear.

It's gone to their heads though, the staff treats students as if they're doing them a favor by helping them. They have insufficient housing and charge huge parking fees for even off campus housing.

You would be surprised how many Cane fans are in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties. Gators fans represent the most, but I see more UM plates, bumper/window stickers than Noles.

Central Gulf coast and Space coast of FL were and are infested with Noles and Gators.. like sharks to blood they scour the rivers and beaches looking to prey on unsuspecting people who haven't found their fandom.. I refused to be deceived by these clowns, followed my heart to the guys wearing Orange and Green and dominating specifically Dorsey, Edge, Morgan, Najeh, pulled me in.

I'm lucky to have made it out alive at such a young impressionable age
No, we're the lucky ones to have you here keeping the Florida Panthers thread going.

idk, I don't know if you're a true fan of this team if you didn't drop six figures in student loans to attend the school on a pre-law track.

There are levels to this.
If you were a Cane fan and never wavered through 1995-1999 and 2005 to present and didn't waver despite not having a degree from UM, your cred should not be questioned. Just sayin.
